iOS Gaming March 2016 | Your backlog grows in tiny bits

I loved Calvino Noir on iPad btw, great game...I wish for new chapters since I completed the whole game.

Speaking of that...the dev seems busy on a scifi game that looks awesome, even if I for are scarce at the moment (but concept art and first screenshots are very intriguing).
Where you'd see the screenshots? Twitter?

Decided to give 7 Mages a try and I really like it. Think I may actually prefer it over Legend of Grimlock. Only minor annoyance is how you don't leave a battle after defeating an enemy even if the closest second enemy is like four or five squares away. Thought that seemed like an odd design decision given that most dungeon crawlers I've played have had a one and done approach (unless there are multiple enemies on the same screen).

But that's minor. The cleaner interface works better here than Grimlock IMO and the gameplay is great. Probably helps that I believe this was built specifically for mobile and not a port.

Actually the PC and mobile versions released the same day. Game's also on Steam

Yes. It's been a year that he is tweeting gorgeous scifi art (from various artists I happen to love) and more recently in game shots (apparently, no hud or anything).
Looks a bit like Capybara Below...details are sadly scarce but the announcement must. It be that far away.

OK. Didn't realize that. But still probably different in that the mobile version probably was developed from the ground up while Grimlock was a port well after the PC version. And Grimlock is still great. Just think I prefer this over it.

So what are we expecting from the 3/21 Apple event? Anything gaming-related?
I'm curious if we'll see Nintendo showing off Miitomo during the event.

On one hand it's a pretty huge moment for the start of Nintendo entering the mobile market with apps, but on the other hand it'll be on Android, and I don't know of they focus on apps that are multi-platform.

My guess is that this event will be mostly device focused, but Id die of happiness if they launched that new RTS game by the Kingdom Rush developers the day of the event. :D
A developer from the team mentioned that it might be coming before the end of March, so I've got my fingers crossed for that.

Everybody should play the basketball game in Facebook Messenger on their phones. I got really addicted to that.

Also, Disney Crossy Road is coming with 100 of characters and 8 Disney themed levels. Excited about it. It will feature Pixar characters as well.

Is Hexcells coming out for iPhone as well, or is it only iPad?

I recently made an account for the JP app store, and Konami has some stuff I'm really enjoying. There's a baseball game called Professional Baseball Spirits Ace that's probably the coolest handheld baseball game I've ever played, a Pop'n Music game, and two games based on the Crows/Worst manga series, and I'm loving all of it despite the language barrier. I wish that at least the baseball game could come out here, it's really good.

I was reading this and went, "cool, I would play Disney Crossy Road" and then I read Hexcells and actually gasped. I would love to have Hexcells on the go, I hope it's on iphone!

I've been waiting for the Apple event for a possible deal on a new iPad Mini. It looks like there won't be much iPad mini news at this event.

Best Buy currently has the iPad mini 4 at $100 off, is there likely to be a better deal than that? I've been watching he fluctuating prices on Amazon and it seems like that's a good deal.

To keep this on topic, I bought Lost Socks when it went on sale. The game looks amazing. While it is difficult the levels are always the same so once you memorize the pattern you can work though each level. I always feel like my deaths are my fault. Practice makes each level possible if you get the timing right. I'm really enjoying the game. I did notice after about an hour of play it had hit my battery pretty hard thought.

I've been on the fence, since I heard the combat gets repetitive and that the fighting interrupts the actual text side too much. Would love to hear more impressions

I've only played the first chapter, but I personally thought it was great. I just redownloaded the complete collection and need to get back into it.

The combat is a bit repetitive but so is the combat in the Sorcery! series. I actually like the combat in Lone Wolf better. It's a bit deeper and more fun IMO.

After playing 9th Dawn a little bit, that discussion about bad graphics=/= bad gameplay that we had last page holds up pretty well in this instance. I was put off by the dark and murky textures of the game at first but now I'm quite enjoying the game. Puzzles are challenging and controls work quite good, knowing where to go is sometimes difficult though.

I've developed quite a fondness for card game hybrids. I think the best ones I've played are Card Crawl, Dream Quest, and Calculords. Maybe Empire as well

Gaf, I need your help !
For my casual idle times, I have played and finished Paint it back and am midway through PathPix HD. Problem is I only have the tiniest amount of pleasure I had with Paint. Not really necessary to think and horrible touch controls.
So I surrender to my new nonogram overlord, what Picross do you recomment for someone who has played Paint ?

Paint It Black is really the only one I'm familiar with, unfortunately

Hexcells should be coming next month, and that plays like a mix of minesweeper and picross, so definitely keep an eye out for that

STARDATE -306779.6959750051 - 21.03.2016

I could see it.
I could smell it.
It was near.
Like never before.
All systems were functional, tanks filled.
Dark matter Omega was plenty.
I had alien blueprints for almost every tech aliens were able to give me.
By now I met everyone, I know almost all their dialects.

The promised land.
The gold ending.
It's there, just 2 clicks away.
I can reach it even now, directly, let me just go to that system and get a last component just to be sure to have everything.

DISASTER.
Enemy appears.
But I'm moderately optimist nonetheless....I have shields, shields enanchements, 4 alien techs on top of each other for evasive maneuvers.
I took precautions for EVERYTHING.

But one thing....the enemy, knowing they can't defeat me now....do the only thing that can fuck my glorious march towards the gold ending.
They erase from my database the only tech I need to complete the game.

FUCK THE ENEMY.
FUCK THE SPACE.

I *LOVE* Out There.

Before ragequitting I avoided on purpose red ending and blue ended the game just because, even if that didn't really satisfy me.

Hungry Cat Picross is quite good if you like the puzzle.

Never thought this would happen to me but I've become a little addicted to Clash Royale. The quick games and instantaneous matchmaking ques make it great for fixing that small competitive itch I've been having lately.

Motorsport Manager is currently available for the princely sum of GET (sorry, on mobile, linking is proving difficult!).

I regretfully inform those who purchased Sproggiwood based on my recommendation earlier in this thread that it is ..

...now half off at $4.99.

Anyone else dive in if you'd like a slightly more casual take on roguelikes (but still pretty damn hard).

I pretty much hate management type sims but for the price of free, I'll give this a shot having heard good things about it.

Looks to be $1.99 but may be one of those that hits at 11 EST.

Same here.
The super fast games are fantastic.
I keep bouncing between 950 and 1050 tough, never reaching the next batch of cards.

I must confess it's really well done.
I won't spend anything of course, so I'm their worst customer, but I'm having great fun.

Oops, sorry if I've given you a bum steer, guys - it's showing as free on the AU store, and the UK one as far as I can tell. Hopefully it's still a timing thing elsewhere, perhaps?

I've played Clash of Clans for 2 years without spending so I have a head start in the worst customer stakes.

The last episode of Republique is out.

2 years later, I'll finally start the game.

It's ashame that they require EVERY episode to be downloaded and doesn't allow for you to delete previous chapters.

I think it was over 6 GB after the last episode so I'm guessing closer to 8 GB this go around.

Don't know when or if I'll play the other chapters (was up to just the 2nd). The game never really lived up to expectations IMO.

They changed the gameplay with episode 3 which turned the game around for me. I'm looking forward to finishing the game off finally.

Main reason why I was waiting to get the PC version. No way am I going to have one game take up 8 GBs on my iPad

Glad to hear they finally finished the game

I'm tempted to get Invisible, Inc. for my PS4 but something tells me it will come to mobile as Don't Starve did.

Looking at the gameplay it looks like a perfect fit for touch screens -- probably better on an iPad.

Don't Starve (mobile version) has been on sale a lot though. So I kind of wonder if it made money or not.

It really would be. I asked Klei back in November and they said there were no plans, but they were looking into it
