Anyone have suggestions for coop with pvp games (RPGs, etc) that aren't p2w?🤔🤔

Thanks 💃💃

Impossible Road (iOS) vs Super Impossible Road (PC/PS4, releasing soon)

I think that might be the most enhanced mobile-to-PC port I've seen
Interesting choice of art style change. I always thought the point of the ball being white (and blending into the background) was to add another layer of challenge.

Yeah I don't really get that change. The PC version looks nicer, but the iOS version looks like the more compelling game.
The Super version has the original endless arcade gameplay as a "classic Survival mode", and is focused more on straight-up racing. There's a Career mode and split-screen/online multiplayer

Hi guys,

We just released our first game, Rolly Hills on the IOS.
We are a team of two brothers, I did the art and my brother did the programming.

It's inspired by games like marble madness and super monkeyball. It should be 60fps on the newer devices.

https://itunes.apple.com/us/app/rolly-hills/id1080096216?ls=1&mt=8

here is a video of it in action. Sorry was a bit hard to take a video...:)

Would really appreciate your feedback so we can keep improving the game.
We hope that you like the game, please give it a try.

Won me Marble Madness and Super Monkey Ball inspiration. Downloading to give it a shot. Good luck with the launch!

The balancing in Clash Royale is terrible. Pretty clearly no real attempt at matching you against someone at an equal level

I haven't had any issues, but I also haven't really played in two days so something may have changed?

How the matchmaking works is you get match made with someone of a similar level and in the same arena as you. Of course, you can get match made with someone who just spent $100 on gems and bought a bunch chests to level up their cards. In that case, yeah, you are getting match with someone who's on another level to you. How it's supposed to work though is people like that are expected to win a lot of games and level up there by being taken out of your match pool. It's not a perfect system by any means, but I guess it does incentivize people to spend money so they can win some games for a while. :/

I played Able Black. The writing and story was excellent, and I loved the fables and the inquiries on them in-between chapters. Unfortunately I thought the puzzle design was really poor. There's some clever solutions there but the implementations with the key visuals or the rhyme riddles were really unintuitive. I eventually just looked up a guide after getting stuck multiple times so I could progress the story, which is really rare for me when it comes to puzzle games. Didn't regret it.

But it's definitely worth a play if you're looking for a good interactive story, especially if you're into stuff that focuses on artificial intelligence ala The Talos Principle, SOMA, etc. Make sure you access "17" after you finish it before putting the game down.

Verreciel finally has a release date: May 1st
This is the space exploration game from the developer of Hiversaires, Oquonie, and Donsol

Know this is the iOS thread, but anyone who has an Android as well, the latest Humble Bundle is incredible (especially if you don't have any of the apps). I'm just going to quote what you would get if you paid the $6 top tier:

Prune
Framed
Battlestation: Harbinger
Desktop Dungeons
Grim Fandango: Remastered
Frozen Synapse Prime
Lara Croft: GO
Sorcery 3
Lost Echo
Unmechanical
Puddle+

Plus a bunch of soundtracks for many of the apps above. Honestly think that has to be the best mobile HB ever. I wish iOS could get into the game.

The first three you can get for just a $1.

That's one hell of a bundle. Too bad devs can't do bundles for iOS games

Of course, they can do bundles of their own games (one dev/publisher). But it would be cool if Apple would allow places like Humble Bundle to maybe use redemption codes to do bundles. Or if Apple itself would do bundles on their own for charity.

Yeah, it sucks. But it's not a surprise with these types of games I suppose.

Might just have the opposite effect on me though. I'll see how it goes.

It's funny how acclimated I've become to Dream Quest's graphics. Now they don't even bother me, it's just part of the game's charm like the first Cally's Caves.
A shame we might not get a refined sequel though.

Yeah, that was the main complaint I had heard. The combat interrupts the interactive fiction parts too often
Yeah, I think you mentioned that when I brought up the game last week.

The combat is actually pretty well designed, and far better than what I'd expect out of an interactive fiction title. There's just way too much of it. It feels like I can hardly go a page or two without running into more things to fight.

For gaming and media, would iPad Air 2 still suffice? Pro seems tad too expensive ...
That's what I use, and it works very well. The A8X is a very powerful chip and its aged nicely. The 2 GB of RAM is fantastic, with games, apps, and Safari tabs refreshing much less frequently than legacy devices. The only detractor, and this me being picky, is how the speakers make the screen vibrate when they're above 10% or so volume. Not a fan of that, but I try not to notice it too much.

I'd imagine the Pro would suffer from the same vibration issue, probably even more as it has four speakers inside the same body. Still, you get used to it pretty quick, and it feels like a light rumble from a video game controller, so it's actually sometimes, IMO.

I think this is pretty cool. I'm horrible at it (the best I could get is 114 so far!) but it's cool and it looks nice. If I was going to ask for something specific to be implemented, it would probably be a landscape mode so I could see a little bit further down the hill, when some of those steep slopes show up.

Thanks bjork for the review. So glad that you think it's cool. We actually made the game with NeoGaf in mind. We thought the game would be easy for NeoGaf lol...But maybe we'll need to tone down the difficulties a bit at the beginning sections.
The landscape mode is a great idea. We are working on the update, with more chars, theme and new obstacles, so maybe we might include it then.
Thanks again, we really appreciate it!

TA wrote about it

And it doesn't sound like he's working on a new game

I just found his blog post about it http://nyarlu.net/blog/fmn-ios-is-freeware-now/

(didn't want to renew the developer programme subscription but somebody else paid for it for him (yay) and he's honoring $free)

his WIP new game is here: http://nyarlu.net/blog/wobbegong-land/
and here: http://nyarlu.net/blog/category/devlog/

"wobbegong land"
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=bq8J1oBqAXs

gives me New Zeland Story in a car on acid kind of vibes

can't wait for that!

My understanding was that he wasn't going to pay the fee "right away" but would when his next game was ready.

Yes perhaps. Well done to the anonymous benefactor that makes all this moot.

hey, Forget-Me-Not guy here.. i just couldn't really afford to pay the app store license at the moment so was going to let it lapse for awhile until i could easily renew it, but my friend offered to help pay because they thought it'd be a shame for it to disappear.

i'd been meaning to make FMN permanently free anyway as it's 5 years old now, had a good run, and i'll probably never get around to updating it again. (kinda amazed it still works on current devices!)

i am working on a couple other games but am real busy with life and stuff, so i go very slowly.. got nothing anywhere near releasing.. anyway, thanks!! enjoy :)

Awesome to have you here! FMN is such a classic. Hope we are privileged enough to play more of your work on iOS someday!

My guess is good, solid, simple coding. Great game and glad to see you here!

Hey, nice to see you're on GAF. Thanks for making such a great game, and can't wait to see what you work on next. Wobbegong Land looks like a lot of fun

^^ Was that through the Starbucks app? Or on the cards they give out in-store?

I already have the game on Android but wouldn't mind it on my iPhone too. But won't take your code. Someone who doesn't have the game should get it.

Somebody already redeemed it though.

Are we still playing Contest of Champions on GAF? Because currently we have 0 points, and we need 100 to get rewarded with a 5-star hero crystal. I just joined and would love to help out but only if it is a team effort.

I also found all of my unread mail in the mail and discovered I had like 5 unclaimed heroes, so got a 3-star War Machine, 2-star Daredevil, 2-star Deadpool, 2-star Cyclops and a 2-star Hulk not to forget a 2-star Black Widow!

If anything major comes out this week, looks like this thread might hit 20 pages. That hasn't happened since September, and before that since the Jan 2015 thread
