Dark Souls III |OT| Thy path has been tested, now fight unkindled ash

He was wary about using
the draw out true strength from Yoel
and people got extremely mad. Accused him of not paying enough attention. Others accused him of not explicitly detailing every decision he's making to the audience etc.

Today was about him missing an extremely easy to miss covenant.

I have to say that he's caught a lot more stuff than I ever did on my first playthrough so far, that's for sure.

Hindsight's 20/20. $10 says none of the people complaining noticed any of the shit they're complaining about without a guide after the fact.

I really need to know what the hell is going on with that, lore wise.

Yeah, I can't wait to read some explanations. By itself it would be interesting but how it connects to the other zone is what really confuses me.
Could it be whoever runs or built the castle's shrine that they extinguished and built around?

Ok so i have this problem.

- I went to the cathedral for the first time.
- Killed the first Giant (inside the cathedral)
- Killed the "many priests" Boss
- activated the bridge inside the cathedral
- when im back to the bonfire, i see Siegmeyer inside the well.
- went back to firelink's tower to see Patches.
- went back to the cathedral to see Patches again, but he is not there.

How can i have Siegmeyer armor now?

Reading the comments for the ENB playthrough is hilarious. I know I shouldn't but I'm inexplicably drawn to them. I haven't seen meldowns like this since Giant Bomb did their endurance run of Persona 4.

I can imagine, but you gottta admit it's the most annoying thing in the world when someone doesn't see what you think should be obvious and is just staring at them. The invisible wall was right there! Gah!

Any magic builds out there. Finished my 1st play through as pure strength. Looking to change up the game play a little bit on the next run.

How regularly do invasions usually happen? Cause I've only been invaded once while embered. Even that was when I was AFK. Every other time it's been nothing. It sucks cause I've never experience the invasion aspect of these games really.

I'm sure many of you with better headsets or speaker setups than me noticed this way earlier, but yesterday I noticed that on the level up screen, the Fire Keeper has a prayer she chants as you're picking your stats. With music/effects/voices at 7/7/7, it just sounds muffled to me. Took the time to type it up.

let these souls withdrawn from their vessels
manifestations of disparity
elucidated by fire burrow deep within me
retreating to a darkness beyond the root of flame
let them assume a new master inhabiting ash
casting themselves upon new forms

Cool detail. And, "
withdrawn from their vessels
", eh?

Invasions seem to have priority to people who have summons. Everytime I do Co OP with my buddy we get about 2 invasions in a level.

I have been invading quite a bit, but it is with the host almost always having at least 1 summoned phantom, and it is quite common to see 2 summoned phantoms with the host when invading.

I'm currently using Uchigatana on my second run, is there a weapon that most Dex users switch to later on or do most of you just use it forever?

I picked up the Rapier and haven't used another weapon.

(This is consistent with my playstyle in the other games though.)

For those saying that Strength builds make the game harder... really? I found it to be the exact opposite thanks to the huge amount of hyper armour I got on pretty much all my attacks. My weapon progression was Large Club, Spiked Mace, Yhorm's Great Machete, then finally the Dragonslayer Greataxe. Bosses never took more than two tries and I finished the game (all areas) at SL 97, which I think is probably over-levelled but what was I going to do with all my souls, not spend them?

Ok I'm at the giant dude and using the sword at the throne is doing piss all for damage. I'm using the weapon art and it's doing like 60 damage per charge, I can't reach his head, so if that's where you have to do the weapon charge I'm completely out of ideas

Consesus seems:
Dex players say it favors strength
Strength players say it favors DEX.
I've been running DEX with katanas, and it's as viable as other games.

The truth is the game favors even scaling weapons. The falchion, the straight swords, a slew of greatswords and other weapons.

With my Butchers Knife+10 the O
ld Demon King
was the easiest boss fight of the entire game. I went in there with 3 Estus left and I barely even got hit. Just stayed under his legs, hit him about 10 times and he was down.

Now I just need to
defeat that goddamn massive Arrow machine, if there is a way.

Patches should be back at firelink on the upper level, near the exit with the giant tree.

You need to charge it up, and thankfully it holds charge so just keep holding the button until you see the very obvious "charged up" animation.

The game doesn't "favor" them. It makes sense that a refined (quality) weapon does more damage if you get both STR/DEX to 40/40; you've invested a ton into damage stats.

But, say, if you were wanting to focus on just STR or just DEX, the Heavy and Sharp outdamage refined scaling weapons.

What's the new OP in terms of build and items? I'm still wearing Knight armor and Shield with a Broadsword+3...I always get nervous with my build and upgrading because I don't want to waste it - so, whats actually good in this game?

Why are Dancer's Enchanted Swords doing a miserable amount of damange compared to my starting twinblades, despite having 100+ more damage in the stats. ::| I'm tired of this game dropping nothing but apparent garbage.

Charge it up by holding L2, then release when you have the chance to do so by pressing L2+R2.

Because the damage is split between 3 types. Split damage type weapons will almost invariably be shit compared to pure damage type weapons because of the way the damage calculation works.

Your three damage types are coming up against 3 separate defenses for every enemy.

Think they are getting a buff, but I doubt it will be enough, it will have to be pretty massive to make them even average.

yup

The damage numbers pertaining to any twin weapons is hilariously weird and seemingly broken.

Welp I wasted a bunch of shards on this shit thinking it would obviously be better than my starting weapon. lol...

I'm wrecking this game with that thing + pyromancy fireblade magic. It's just kinda sad to be honest. I gave Uchigatana a try but it's much slower and consumes more stamina, leading to fewer attacks in a row. Also tried Farron's greatsword, but it's just slow garbage.

I need some honest opinions from people who don't like Dark Souls 2, do you like this?

Yes. I loved Bloodborne, but couldn't get into the DS2 remaster. Haven't played Demon Souls or Dark Souls 1.

I'm loving this game nearly as min as Bloodborne.

yeah, i did that, but now ? where is he?

Divided this up since it may be more spoilers than you want:

Do you mean where is
Patches
?

He should be on the upper level of firelink, near the exit that goes to the tree with the seed of giants and the tower. If you forgive him he will become a vendor and he will sell the Onion gear to you (not give. You need all the armour but not the shield).

Quest line details:
I never paid too much attention to the quest line, but the order may matter. What I did 1) Get tricked by him in the Cathedral and he lowers the bridge. 2) Go to the well and talk to Onion Knight. 3) Buy the tower key for 20K from the handmaiden and go in the tower. 4) Go up to the top and get the FIrekeeper soul. 5) Come back down and Patches is there and has locked the door so you can't get out of the tower. 6) Exit via the bottom of the tower. 7) Go up to the top level of Firelink shrine, same level used to get to the door where you used the tower key to get to the Firekeeper soul. 8) Talk to Patches and forgive him. 9) Buy Onion gear. 10) Return to well and throw the gear in the well.

Do you mean where is the
Onion Knight?

No idea on that one, I have not seen him again yet.

I'm not talking about that, just that more weapons start at d/d or some equivalent than anything else.

Played all of the souls, demons included and bloodborne

It's better than 2. Better bosses, better level design, actual npc storylines and feels way more like a sequel than DaS2. Actually it kinda retroactively makes DaS2's place in the trilogy way more feeble, like it's all padding now between 1 and 3.

I still find it inferior to Dark souls 1 and Bloodborne in many many ways. Honestly while it's cool to replay through a game like that, there's nothing new to say about the souls series and the game itself doesn't bring many new things to the table, may it be setting or lore. It's a nice sendoff but honestly I really do hope they end the franchise here

Ah, yeah. I rather like it, since then it's equal whether you swing Heavy or Sharp, mostly.

And if you swing Refined, then it's even nicer if you've got the stats.
