Uncharted 4 spoiler free early copy impressions

People since informed me that the press did get to access multiplayer on may 4th and some earlier dates, but I still have a problem with the way the majority of reviews were written. It's clear that many outlets didn't participate in the mutiplayer review opportunity, and many that did dismiss the mutiplayer as non-important and post a generic paragraph about how it adds to the packages lifespan. Gamesradar explicitly say that 'no one buys Uncharted for multiplayer'.

There's a lot of really crappy journalism surrounding the review coverage of this game.

It's a huge shame, because the Multiplayer is the best playing TPS on the market bar none. That's something to be commended, yet somehow it's not mentioned in any of the reviews and they brush it off.

I don't get it. I suppose it's because the single player tends to be sooo good that it just isn't something reviewers focus on.

Meanwhile, other TPS games like Gears, I feel get more attention to the MP for some reason.

I buy Uncharted for the multiplayer, the single player serves as a cool down when I get mad at try hards who always run around in groups.

Man this sucks. I just ruined the pacing. Now i have to replay chapter 11 just to see the end cutscene because Ps4 standboy mode kept the game playing while i was away SMH.

Aww man I fucked up. I had put my PS4 on standby last night right at the end fo the convoy chase from E3, right when the truck flipped over. I turned my PS4 on today but I just left it on because I was on the computer and when I switched to the PS4, It was alrady on another chapter and I missed the entire scene before that. Is there a way I can watch it without replaying that whole chapter over?? I don't want to do that whole chapter again.

Maybe using the encounter select option from the menu? Not sure if that would work since I've never used it.

I used it and right near the end it just says restart encounter before Sam catches up with you. It sucks because Chapter 11 is beautiful but the pacing is good for first playthrough. I don't really want to replay it all over again but I guess I have to. Sucks.

No cutscenes when you use the encounter select, at least from the ones I have played. It just pauses after the fight and asks if you want to restart the encounter.

Ohhh I see. Damn, that sucks then.

It also messed up my play time so now it doesn't show how long I played. :( It starts from that chapter as new.

That's a glaring omission. There should've been a cutscene viewer but I guess that's because of real time cutscenes. :/ Shit just soured me a bit.

Can I just say that there's another Easter Egg which is a non-Naughty Dog reference to gaming, and it is absolutely fucking brilliant. It's a really protracted and relatively important part of the plot, too, which I'm sure will go over many people's heads.

I found it far more exciting than the early-ish Easter Egg which lots of people were going crazy about in the last couple of days (still a brilliant Easter Egg...)

What and when is it? Obviously spoiler tag it.

I think it's an audience thing.

And also the Uncharted USP is the SP, that people forget about the MP somehow....

It is weird. TLOU MP was great too, somehow not so much noted in reviews.

THis game is amazing. Borderline CGI at times. I did run into a small glitch/bug/unintended gameplay sequence though. I wanna upload a vid of it - is it safe to do so? There is no spoiler anywhere in this short video.

You could just watch the cutscene on Youtube.

I'm not a hundred percent like this, but almost. I wouldn't spend sixty euros for just the single-player campaign, and while I'm excited to play through it once or twice, the multiplayer is the bigger attraction for me. It looks like I could spend a month or two playing it, so I hope the player counts stay high for a long time!

So yeah, shame reviewers seem to ignore it like idiots.

One thing I loved about this game is how smoothly everything transitions, from chapter to chapter, from level to level.

Fuck, from start to finish, I think there was like a total of 7-8 seconds where there was nothing on the screen and no sound/music was playing, otherwise there was always a cutscene or gameplay scene or SOMETHING happening.

Isn't that just playing as a team? I thought "try harder" we're lone wolfs who don't understand how teamwork can trump their "innate superiority"

Is anyone having problems with Trophies not showing up? The notification pops up but when I check the Trophies under my profile I either get an error or/ and the Trophies don't sync for the game.

Anyone else getting this error?

Yeah, it doesn't make any sense considering UC2 and UC3 were each consistently popular on PSN and had some longevity as far as console shooter multiplayers go.

I wish the xcr and mp34a showed up more throughout the game. There were only a couple of encounters I remember picking up those weapons. :(

Journalists are biased against non-mainstream MP games, especially if they are PS exclusives. It's all about CoD/BF/Halo/GoW/Destiny/Division. Everything else doesn't exist for them.

Maybe it's because the X360 revolutionized online console gaming, therefore the following perception still persists:

XBOX/XBL = better online gaming
(not really)
PlayStation/PSN = better SP gaming/poor online network

preloaded in US and ready to go for tomorrow midnight. Can't wait!! need to be very careful for another 24-48 hours since a lot more news/videos/spoilers are going to be popping up tomorrow with embargoes lifting

Is it my PS4 or was there hitching for other guys who played the E3 setpiece? Like right at the end the game had a slight pause or two where you see it freeze for a second.

To the bold yes yes I and many people I play with buy uncharted for the multiplayer.... it's among the best in the genre for tps. So I can whole heartily disagree with them there.

Because you're playing it early, they'll show up once the game is officially out.

One thing I love about this game I forgot to post about earlier.

I was talking to a character about something, and I triggered some story dialogue by physically moving forward, obviously interrupting the exchange. After the story dialogue was finished Nate said like "so you were saying?" and the other character was like "oh yeah, so..." and continued.

I thought that was really neat. Most games would just completely skip this because you triggered story dialogues.

I also kinda like the soundtrack, it definitely seems Uncharted but not as grand or epic as the previous games. It's kinda just there in the background the whole time.

Is it the
GAF forum page print out?
I thought that was really funny and cool.

Thank you. ^_^

I'll be posting the Official Screenshot Thread shortly after the OT goes up tomorrow. They'll be a few rules to follow, pretty straightforward, such as:

not to post key spoilers/endgame content and cool set pieces (this'll be changed after a maybe a couple/few weeks), and post PNG format (ideally). :)

Wow, this is amazing.

So when you guys get to the chapter I'm talking about......I truly believe naughty dog can make an open world game and keep the fidelity and fucking mind blowing set pieces without a single problem. I truly believe naughty dog could easily do open world and have it look this good. God damn

I liked Uncharted 2's Multiplayer but always sucked at it so I never dove into it, Uncharted 3's Multiplayer was better with mobility but worse with everything else so I was on and off with it, but Uncharted 4's Multiplayer blew me away with how perfect it is.

It's one of the best playing and most satisfying 3rd person shooter Multiplayer modes ever and it alone is worth the $60 of admission. It really should get more attention.

Midnight here in germany and I was hoping for some Kind of error in the ps network, like someone accidentially pushed at Button so the digital Version would have been released but no, nothing. Well, tomorrow night then :D

The part in the boat? Happened to me too, I thought it was pretty damn amazing.
