Nvidia GeForce GTX 1080 reviews and benchmarks

as expected its a die shrunk maxwell. it actually has less changes than even i expected. also confirms that maxwell was incapable of async compute at a hardware level

Guru3D say it is not worth the upgrade from a 980Ti and based on the benches I will agree.

If the 1080Ti gives another 20℅ on top of the 1080's 20℅ then I will bite, especially if it comes with HBM2.

Awesome by the initial sound of things. Only downside is the Founders Edition, which is just reference, but I wouldn't bother with those anyway so there is no need to worry about a premium. Performance actually making 1440p and even 4k in some instances at 60fps a real prospect with very recent games.

Hoping the 1070 can be fantastic, in which case I'll be grabbing that to save a bit, otherwise I will grab this

Sitting on a 980ti and I know I should wait for the 1080ti, but I'm starting to get that upgrade itch...

You and me, but if I buy one I'm waiting for overclocked custom cards. Going to be insane looking at their overclock potential.

so far.. its double the performance of my GTX970 haha. its nuts. I can't wait to get one of these. :D

Double the performance of 970 at double (tripple at launch?) the price...
Meh :\

I personally think it's worth waiting for 980ti owners, but I'm sure those that jumped in early on that card have large budgets anyway. I'll certainly be looking to go to a 1080ti or Titan when they get released.

Agreed. If the next Titan is as overpriced (and trumped by the 1080 Ti shortly after) I'll skip that but a 4K @ 120 Hz G-Sync display and a 1080 Ti might be a pretty good pairing.

I don't pay much notion to 1440p scores for these cards as my 980 Ti can run everything really nice at that resolution.

Lmfao 789€.
I'm guessing around 100€ less for non-FE?

4K performance doesn't seem quite there yet. I guess I'm waiting for the 1080Ti.

Guess it's time for me to buy a superclocked 980Ti with a price drop or just get a second superclocked 780 to SLI until 1080Ti is out with HBM2.

Yeah, I'm looking at a G-Sync 165Hz 1440p monitor as I'd rather have the frames rather than the full resolution, but a resolution bump and 1080ti should scream on it.

Here we go. When it was rumored and I said it'd eclipse a 980Ti, everyone laughed. When I'm saying the announced 1080 will be brilliant, everyone tells me to stfu and wait.

Now we're here and everyone can eat crow. Sit in the corner and eat it.

These benchmarks are pointless without the 1070 to compare it with to see the value proposition. When is the embargo up on the 1070?

No-one has one yet. They're only putting 1080's out there for now as that's the card coming out first.

To me it's not worth it at all, waiting for the GTX 1070 review to see if instead could be worth upgrade from my GTX 980 to that

Is this for the founders edition? (What is the difference between founders and standard?)

I feel like upgrading my 280x but at the same time it still runs things decently :p

This is the killer card for all (previous gens anyway) 970/980 users.
For OC TI/Titan users this is not enough. Expecting the TI to massively curbstomp.

789€ for a "hairdryer" cooler card is really hefty but expected due to the expensive new process. Hopefully lots of these get sold so that the TI cards come with less of a FinFet tax.

Apparently the 165 Hz is a bit of a gimmick really and not something you can really notice though. So don't rule out 144 Hz displays either.

Has the UK price been announced?

£619 for the founders

Less for the non founders, whenever they appear

Cheers for the heads up. Only looked briefly sometime as it won't be for another month after I move, but I was thinking "FRAMMMMEEESSSS" and the higher number being better as a starting point.

Well, this settles that.

100% Selling this 980ti. Looking forward to the overclocked AIB solutions in June.

When you're on a resolution higher then 1440p you need all the performance you can get, and imo 4k is shit for gaming anyway, the only way is Ultrawide.

Oh no five people were wrong about a blind prediction and now can enjoy a good product.

Get over yourself. It's embarrassing.

€789 for the Founder's edition, probably €689 for the others. Still hugely expensive.

Will probably put one in my new build in July.
