Need N impressions on 6P.

I don't understand why they'd announce Allo if they won't release it immediately. What's the point?

Called the new messenger app. It is so Google to release more and more messengers.

No new smaller tablet :(

Only been a few hours, but N is smoooooth

I use Hangouts but that's because I ported my number to Google. Doing so allows me to use Hangouts on the desktop. I'm hoping Allo can be used in lieu of Hangouts once it's ready. Otherwise there's really no point in using it unless you convince your friends to use it.

I'm so glad I live in a country that's so utterly and completely dominated by Whatsapp because I don't have to worry about this SMS / Hangouts / iMessage / [whichever this week's new Google messaging app is] nonsense.

After using RSbrowser and Habit browser for the past few months, I've decided to go back to Opera Mini. I think it's the best Android browser.

Wish more people used Whatsapp in the US. It's far and away the best one I've used.

I'm really liking the double tap on the square to switch back to the previous app.
The new notification bars are dope too.
and omg the new emojis are super cute, they finally fixed the ugly ass poop.

It's gotten much better. Now that they have a web interface as well as a desktop client, along with Automated Google Drive backups and End-to-End encryption I feel Whatsapp is finally where it needed to be. It even supports VoIP which is awesome. The truth is Whatsapp is really, really convenient since you don't have to get people to create yet another account. You just need their phone number.

At any rate, one doesn't really pick one's messaging solution: basically a society does and you're stuck with it. Whatsapp is so entrenched where I live that not using Whatsapp means being completely cut off from communication. People here don't say: hey, give me your number. They say: hey, send me a 'Whats'. A lot of people here buy smartphones just for Facebook and Whatsapp.

Even my 70 year old dad uses it now, which is fucking annoying since he gets mad if I don't reply to his shitty jokes and ancient memes within 3 seconds. "Hey I saw you online and you ignored my whats you snot what's going on I'll disown you."

Can anyone with dp3 installed do me a huge favor..... can you tell me if underworld empire (kabam) works after installation?

Is it possible for app developers to implement messaging apps that could flip between SMS/IM like iMessage does? The thought occurred to me that while I want that kind of a service from Google I wondered why other developers of popular chat apps haven't done anything like that.

Like WhatsApp could act as an SMS app and then send their own messages if both users are using their app.

I don't use it myself, but there's no way to appear Offline on Whatsapp? This is a pretty basic feature of anything that's used for communication.

Seems to be working better than the 1st Preview, Bluetooth is now working in my car, which was the reason I moved away from it at the start. All seems nice and smooth, no issues with it since installing last night.

Lost 3% battery overnight, cannot really gauge battery life in day to day usage as I work in an office with extremely poor reception and my poor phone is always looking for a signal and draining the battery.

It's already out though, isn't it? Just your carrier being a little bitch?

Don't think my partner has M yet on her Z3 compact was originally locked to o2 now with Three. Actually in that case, who would push the update? I assume o2 as it's still effectively one of their phones with their guff on it.

I might be wrong anyway. This is from a month ago:

Sony has started to roll out Android 6.0 Marshmallow to Xperia Z3 Compact (D5803) devices. The update has been spotted in the US, Russia, the Middle East, and North Africa, but will certainly spread globally over the coming days and weeks, so head to Settings > About device > Software update to see if your device can be updated yet.

So not total rollout.

Meanwhile, the regular Z3 has an N preview build.

It's an O2 phone and they decide when and if it gets updated.

That's precisely why I'd never buy a carrier phone.

Google Hangouts currently does that on Android.

But it's a terrible experience because you can't send SMS messages on your Hangouts browser app. So it's super useless unless you have your phone or use Pushbullet.

Has anybody have any issue with Google Drive lately? The app updated yesterday and now it crashed when I tried to use it, reverting the update solved it though, this isn't happening with any other app. The version it's running on now is 2.3.327.07.33, this on a second gen Moto E with Marshmallow.

Not sure if I'm following you here, but didn't Google attempt to do that with Hangouts until recently?

Unless it doesn't have the dynamic theme that changes per app. I love that feature.

Nothing dynamic, can apply your own background now though.

So i'm having issues with my Experia Z3. The proximity sensor isn't working right and is always on, which messes with calls especially as it automatically turns the screen off after dialing a number. Might send it to maintenance after the weekend but I wanted to see if there's a way to fix it myself.

no other dev has the balls to hijack SMS

My dog was murdered by a 3.5mm audio port and I will not rest until the standard is dead
Did anyone dirty flash the new preview? I don't want to clean flash but we all know it's the only choice. However, I'd feel compelled to clean flash the final version tbh. So clean flash once or twice. Hmm.

Aiii

So not worth it

Does it matter? You'll flash it and then revert back a few days from now saying it runs like dogshit either way, AJ.

Custom ways to open Recent Apps is broken in N at the moment. I mean like when it is set to happen in a launcher when swiping up, for example. Heartbreaking!

I forgot I flashed my Pixel C until thje virtual keyboard came up. Performance is great and I've not noticed the Chrome stutter problem yet.

would it be really dumb to buy a Nexus 5X now? I would ideally want my next phone to last 3 years.

I know I read about performance issues, but maybe Android N will fix things? My Verizon contract is up next month and if I switched to Fi, even if I made monthly payments on the phone I think I'd be paying less than my monthly Verizon bill, so I could potentially even save money per month by switching to a 5X.

The 5X likely wasn't going to last 3 years at launch for people that want a good performance on the latest software, never mind now.

We're so close to whatevers next, may as well wait it out.
