Is Nintendo waiting for NX to announce Cloud, Bayonetta and Corrin amiibos?

Nintendo released a lot of Smash Bros amiibo so far, one for each character of the roster, but we still have to see some of them hitting the market and I'm particularly looking forward for Cloud and Bayonetta ones.

Those three were announced more or less 4 months ago, and we still don't have a release date neither.

The release of Smash amiibos has been pretty constant so far so it seems a bit strange to me that we still don't know if they will be released in summer, around fall or near Christmas.

Plus, we know that Kirby amiibos will arrive on the market around June alongside the new Kirby 3DS game, so we can assume that they will hit the market later, from September onward.

Even stranger, we know that Smash DLC/updates/Directs/events are over. So my question is: is it normal to leave those three "pending" amiibo out there in the silented wild for so long?

We know that "NX" is some sort of shadowy mare magnum in this moment and that everything vaguely Nintendo related seem to belong to NX in this very moment, but I think that maybe the weird silence around those missing amiibos release date could be somehow be motivated by this (reliable?) rumor:

http://www.neogaf.com/forum/showthread.php?t=1176639

So my question is: will they be released alltogether around...fall (october?) alongside the release of Smash NX version?

im probably in the minority but the less focus on amiibo for NX the better, IMO

theyre selling though so, whatever i guess

The other DLC characters took 8+ months to finally get their amiibos out, despite being announced.

Mewtwo was released in April, but his amiibo wasn't until the holidays later in the year. Roy and Ryu were in June, but were just released a few weeks ago.

But, if a Smash 4 NX port is coming, the time line works rather nicely for these three to come out in late 2016, early 2017, which may be when the port releases, if it is indeed a thing that's happening. Although Cloud would be pushing it, if he were to keep up with the other DLC amiibo releases, it would be mid/late summer, not quite NX release time.

Lucas was announced April last year and his amiibo was released in December in Japan. That's an 8-month gap. These guys were announced in December. If they're to follow the same pattern, they could be out in August or so. They don't announce amiibo releases until about two months prior.

In short, it's nothing out of the ordinary.

Probably not. I think they already announced they were getting figures, IIRC. Maybe a release date soon but likely not tied to NX

Guys, don't release, but on the announcement of the release date.
Did all those 8 months gap amiibos release dates were announced so long after the reveal of the characters?

Just asking.

Usually there's a 9-month gap between DLC characters & their Amiibo's release, Mewtwo being the exception (since it's rumored that Mewtwo was meant to be in the base game & missed the mark). By this logic, Cloud should be out by August, while Bayonetta & Corrin should be out by September. But we've yet to hear anything about Cloud, despite his timing lining up with a summer release. It could be because Nintendo doesn't want to talk about stuff too far in advance as far as Amiibos go (the latest they've spoken about Amiibos in the March Direct were those coming in June). But it's very possible that the Final 3 DLC Characters may be saved for Smash 4: Complete Edition on the NX Platform to maximize sales. Nintendo also doing restocks of other characters (like Robin, Palutena, & Lucina) would also make sense, since people have been begging for restocks &, like the DLC characters, launching with the rumored NX Platform port would help maximize exposure & sales.

In short, it could go either way. If we don't hear anything about at least Cloud's Amiibo in the next general Direct, then it's safe to assume that they're being saved for the launch of the NX Platform.

The Ryu one was already made so they closed down the amiibo factory since I already have the ones I want.

I'm sorry

My guess is they'll be talked about during the next direct. They decided to do the kirby amiibo next instead, for robobot, is my guess.

Actually, now that you mention, it's a bit weird how we have yet to get Ryu & Roy support in Super Mario Maker (despite Capcom already providing Nintendo with Monster Hunter SMM costumes, & Fire Emblem being Nintendo). I honestly have no idea why they didn't just add them in alongside the launch of their Amiibos. My guess, either they're waiting for the last of the Smash 4 Amiibos to drop or they'll save them for an NX Platform port of Super Mario Maker (possibly both, if the final Smash Amiibos are being saved for the NX Console launch).

Seeing that Ryu and Roy amiibo released about a week ago despite their DLC releasing in June last year then we probably won't see them until later this year. I'm guessing September the earliest.

They're waiting for snake.
Stop it. It's not even funny anymore, it's just sad.

I'm sure they'll get a mention in the next Nintendo Direct, which I expect there to be one between now and E3...

...but who the hell knows, honestly.

They will only be exclusive in a boxed set together with the just announced Smash Dioramas and only sold at Nintendo New York.

I just need these three, and I'll have the full Smash series of Amiibo (except for Miis, but I don't care for those). Hurry up and release them so I can put my wallet at rest.

So was I right? Looking at how they announced new amiibo at e3 to be released in fall, alongside the new Mario party for 3DS, I would assume that corrin, bayonetta and cloud will be released alongside nx and its smash port in march 17

Your take on the matter?

Has Nintendo made amiibo figures from any IPs not owned by Nintendo? I'd imagine the licensing negotiations for something like a Cloud amiibo would be pretty intense.

I find Jawmuncher's unyielding love for Snake to be beautiful. *sniffs, wipes tear*

On topic, I think they'll roll these out in a Direct prior to NX, feat. Pokken DLC, more Hyrule Warriors DLC, a fresh look at Federation Force, the Mother 3 WiiU VC reveal, and more footage on Paper Mario: Color Splash, Mario Party Star Rush, and Zelda: BotW.

That would kind of imply that the NX port has no new characters they could make Amiibo of. I don't see that.

Pac-Man was probably a lot more straight forward in comparison to the other third party characters due to Bandai Namco developing the game.

I can see it, instead.
We already have more than 50 characters and amiibo.
They could include all the dlc in the basic game, put 3ds and wiiu specific contents/levels and obtaining probably the biggest game of all time lol

I've been wondering for months why they haven't been released yet. I wanna give it to August for the absolute latest. But yeah the wait has been absolutely ridiculous for these 3.

It's been heavily rumored that Nintendo is preparing a huge slew of DLC for Winter so they have something to offer and sell. While they also make some revenue.

We got hints for:

Mario Kart DLC
Pokken DLC
More Splatoon Content
And I'm sure there is more that I missed/forgetting.

So I'm pretty sure there is going to be a direct in a few months that's going to show this all off.

Or that it just doesn't have enough for a complete wave of figures, possibly leading to a staggered release of the last few DLC fighters' amiibo alongside the new characters' being a more viable option.

I believe someone said development and production time on amiibo is something like 7 to 8 months...I forget where I read that. Considering Bayonetta was introduced in December and released in February we'll probably see her and the remaining amiibo around August or September of this year.

I always thought that the delay was either waiting for more Smash-themed amiibo to release alongside it (alts maybe?) or there are issues with Square Enix regarding Cloud.

Are three Amiibos that much of an addition?

Especially when the line is already over 5
65 that aren't always in stock. They could probably restock old figures at the same time.

There are still over a dozen figures that were sold out day one and never got restocked.

Finally it's safe to assume other NX titles will have Amiibo launching.

Breath of the Wind already has three confirmed from its own line.
