Batman v Superman Ultimate Cut |OT| - Men are still good (out now)

Umberto was too hyped up from the extra Batman scenes to be thinking straight.

Yea, Umberto is a fan boy. A lot of his defenses are non-sensical. Schnepp asked him to point out a flaw and he just kept talking about what he liked from the added stuff. Almost like he just ignored what Schnepp asked of him.

Just had to take a break to cook a burger at the Senate hearing scene. The movie doesn't seem any more cohesive as far as editing is concerned. I still have that same feeling I had in the theater were I was like "wait....what??"

Still a C+ in my book, let's see what the next hour and half has in store for me.

Okay, that was a lot better.

Sure its still far from perfect and has some very messy parts, but some of the stuff cut for the TC version is just stupid - the whole Africa thing made so much more sense in this version for example. The movie needed a lot of the cut scenes, but at the same time it needs to cut some of the stupid scenes/bloat (Lois and the spear is a big one that really should be removed).

When i watched the TC version it was a 5 out of 10, this version is for me an easy 7.5/10.

Not gonna lie I really like this cut. I feel like you get a much better sense of Clark's anguish over not being accepted by humanity.
But he is accepted by humanity.

Sure there is some bad press, some YouTube commenters out there but who cares? I mean he shouldn't care, you can't please everyone.

What's the first thing they tell you when you become famous? Don't read the commenrs, it will get in your head. This dude works at the damn Daily Planet though so he is over analyzing everything.

I enjoyed the TC but I really likes this cut, still confused over how Lex found out the identity of Batman. Supermans identity he probably got from the AI in the ship but don't think they explained how he got Bats.

TC ended up being a 5/10 from me, this cut ranks at a solid 7/10.

I finally cared about Cavill's Superman, it felt like every scene actually had a purpose to serve, I bought Amy Adams as Lois for the first time and every single thing added needed to be in the movie from the get-go. It actually feels like a cohesive film now.
I understand they trimmed it down because most audiences aren't thrilled by seeing a three hour running time, but frankly, fuck 'em.

A better film would have made for better word of mouth and reviews. Better word of mouth and reviews could have sold people that passed on seeing the TC when it was in theaters. Releasing this cut as the TC would have put some people off because of the running time, but the audience it would have gained from it's quality vastly outweighs the former.

I'm just glad that this cut saw the light of day. In my mind, this is Batman v. Superman. I don't like Eisenberg's Luthor. I don't dig murderer Batman as much as I used to think I would growing up when I would scream "Just kill them already!" at the comic panels. I felt bad for Clark, too. Poor guy just got beaten down, literally and figuratively. All in all though, a much better cut, and now, in my opinion, a great comic book movie that gets me a bit more excited for the DCCU.

WB, please. Let Snyder have his way with JL. If you let the guy run free a bit, he'll make a decent film. He just takes a bit longer than most directors to pull it together, haha.

You can not imagine.

Well, I'm glad you got to make it. Threads like this should be made by fans.

Personally, I thought BvS was good enough. It had problems, mainly WB going out of out its way to be the anti-Marvel, but I enjoyed the movie well enough. I'm sure it'll look and sound great on my home theater.

I probably won't be able to wait until Black Friday to get it cheap.

In the Knightmare, when Batman is chained up, Supes literally says to him "She was my world. And you took her from me" though
It's a tainted dream of self delusion, punctuated by a time traveler asking if they came too early, the joke being the flash always fucks up time travel.

Snyder shouldn't have filmed a 3 hour movie.

They should fine him for every minute above 2 hours 10 minutes for Justice League's theatrical cut.

Why not? Good is good. Here's hoping Terrio's script is tighter in JL, but a 2:45 good blockbuster is not a bad proposition . The UC is very long, I agree, but in some sense it's the last of its kind. Bet there won't be any 3hr cbm in the foreseeable future.

Ugh, I'm an hour and forty five in with over an hour left and this movie is so boring.

Ok, that's an exaggeration. The UC so far is a notable improvement over the TC, that much is hard to deny. So far, it's taken it from a really sloppy meh movie to a competent meh movie. There's just so much endless pondering and exposition with continuous foreboding tones resonating underneath like every scene is straight out of Paradise Lost. What's exhausting about it is it simply takes too long to get to the pay off with everything feeling like it's building momentum for far too long.

My favorite added scenes so far are the glimpses into how every day people view Superman and Batman. It is a better film than the TC but I have to take a short break from finishing the last hour or so.

I think being called out by the US government is a bit more serious than a few Youtube commentors.

Eh, just not your style I guess. I wasn't bored at all.

There are things that happen in the movie now that are explained better, but that doesn't mean that they should be happening. Batmane really killed over 30 or 40 people easily, I can't get over that.

Okay, watched it (the UC) and I believe this a pretty solid 8/10 movie. I enjoyed the bleak atmosphere but damn if it doesn't get a bit too much at times.
Holy shit Batman, kill more why don't you.

I enjoyed all the performances (Ben Affleck is good!) and really dug the action, particularly
in the third act and it is so cool to see Wonder Woman hold her own for a bit against Doomsday!
.

It is indeed too long and bloated though, but again, otherwise a good if very dark film. Absolutely worth the wait! Glad my first exposure to BvS was this version.😃

Watching now. First time seeing the movie and seeing the Ultimate out of the gate. Dont know anything about it spoiler wise, and i enjoyed Man of Steel. I will be a test subject. Also some alcohol will be consumed since its 3 fucking hours, which i guess bodes well for poor Ben. poor poor Ben, so sad

While I never got bored, I do think the UC is a very slowburn movie especially for a superhero movie. I have a theory that was one of the reason it was cut the way it as for the TC. The erratic scene jumping was probably done to try and keep audiences invested while serving to shorten the amount of time between action scenes.

Watched the UC, it was definitely better than the TC but still not a good movie. It still suffers from a bad script and characterization.

I can't take one of the guys in the Collider review seriously - a 10/10 for this? Really? This isn't even near as good as Civil War and that movie is like an 8/10.

For me, the TC was a 4/10 and the UC is about a 5.5/10.

This is pretty much where my head is at with this film. If someone tells me this is a 10/10 for them, I'll respect their opinion but it would let me know not to trust them for future reviews. The story isn't even big enough to justify being three hours long, that's what drives me up the wall about this movie. You don't need the Africa subplot to expose that Luther is a bad guy, just go with the bombing. You don't need Lois being kidnapped because they already had Martha. You don't need to play hide & seek with the spear because they were going to need it again anyway. The Ultimate Cut makes a bloated movie that was incoherent actually make sense sometimes, but it is still bloated. I feel like someone talked to me in an elevator for three hours about the weather. They talked...but they didn't really say anything.

It isn't even about getting the movie down to some magic runtime, it just spins its wheels for moments I ultimately didn't end up caring about. If you're literally going to spend two hours building up to a conflict that is the title of the film, you should probably just make that the final act. But this movie resolves that in minutes, just to add a whole new mess into the 3rd act. No hyperbole, I've never seen a movie that took so long to get to a big moment(s) and then feel so rushed when it finally got there.

I'm glad they released this for people who wanted more, but it would have been the same shit show if Warner Bros had released this in theaters. There would have been fewer complaints about being confused and more about wasting people's time.

Eeeeeeh.

That was... uhhhhhhh.

There were a lot of people on my social media feeds claiming that people were only disliking this film because it wasn't a Marvel film, and while I certainly do think people were too hard on it's um. Not very good, too.

also, Luthor was fucking trash and so annoying, why did they do that

This is what happens when WB tries to go straight for Avengers-money with the groundwork Marvel put in. BvS had to spend a lot of time building & explaining the world.

I'm looking forward to seeing the added scenes of regular people reacting to the heroes, though.

Did they at least explained in this cut why
the Bat-brand is considered a death mark in prison?

No, it isn't explicitly explained.

It's possible that he only saves it for certain types of criminals and that might be why it's a death sentence. We see it used on someone who had sex slaves in his basement. There is a hierarchy in prison, and abusers of children are at the very bottom of that list. But it isn't something the movie pointed out.

I thought it was explained .

didnt Luther specifically hire prisoners to kill anyone with a mark to get superman more pissed at batman ?

Thats what I thought.
People didn't get killed in till Lex saw a way to make batman a criminal in superman's eyes

Actually you're right.
Cause the brand thing was recent. I took the scene with the KGBeast to mean that Luther was having them step up the killing, but looking at article that Clark reads, it's more of a recent thing. So he was probably the cause of it happening in the past few months

Yeah,
Luthor is having criminals branded killed to make Batman look worse.

It's a reason, atleast...

So what was he
branding them for before Luthor put his plan in action? Sadism? And why didn't he stop when he realized his mark was causing unintended deaths?

Yeah, different strokes.

His cowl and gauntlets appear to be bulletproof, probably parts of his cape too.

My cousin brought a point
bat took like 3 bullets point blank range and walked it off like nothing
which was funny when i thought about it.

Does anybody know if Batman's cowl bulletproof?

Yeah. Even though you never see it in the movie (outside of Alfred messing with it), the tech cowl is under the mask itself. Along with being supposedly bulletproof, it's also responsible for the voice modulation and
the white eyes you briefly see in the Lex Corp break in video
.
