"And look, folks. I welcome this kind of examination. I do, I really do. I welcome it. Bigly. Because the people have got a right to know, and I've always said this--for years I've been saying--people call me and thank me for saying it, they say 'Thanks Donald, that needed to be said, and you're the only one' I'm the only one who's saying it folks. The people have got a right to know whether or not their president is Crooked. They do, the really do. And folks, I'm not Crooked. I have earned everything I have got. And, let's be honest folks, I've got a lot. Have you seen Trump Tower? It's tremendous. Simply tremendous."

First tragedy, then farce.
Since the FBI is investigating the link between the DNC hack, Putin and Trump, would they be able to get access to them?

The FBI can get the IRS records, yes.

They will not release them to the public however.

Really Mr. Trump?

Wanna tell us about the financing of Trump SoHo then?
http://www.nytimes.com/2016/04/06/us/politics/donald-trump-soho-settlement.html?_r=0

Or your involvement with Felix Slater?
https://www.washingtonpost.com/poli...c6c2c6-16d3-11e6-aa55-670cabef46e0_story.html

Or why your campaign chairmen worked for Viktor Yanukovych for 10 years?
http://www.politico.com/story/2014/03/paul-manafort-ukraine-104263

Or why your son in 2008 said:
“Russians make up a pretty disproportionate cross-section of a lot of our assets" and “We see a lot of money pouring in from Russia.”

I get the feeling it won't even cause a moment of doubt among his supporters though

I was kind of hoping his faith in himself and his ability to get away with anything where his base is concerned would end up pushing him to release the returns. I'm pretty sure at one point he said they'd be out before the election and was just waiting due to the audit (BS excuse, but yet another lie.)

It could be because he owes Russia, it could be because he doesn't want to deal with fallout from all the times he claimed he'd donate profits from venture X or Y to charity, it could be because his net worth is lower than he claims or he's taking tax breaks that don't match up to his public version of his wealth. It's probably some combination of all of the above.

That we didn't even get a token "when Hillary releases speech transcripts" has to mean he will do everything he can to keep his returns from seeing the light of day.

His supporters won't care but it will to Independents and Moderates. It might not make them vote for Hillary but it will definitely keep them away from wanting to vote for Trump.

Yeah, I noticed this, too. He must know that all she has to do then is release the speeches. He doesn't want to take that risk.

If this is true with Russia then god damn since when became freaking Putin so strong?

Someone at the IRS needs to make a public statement that only the years (generally the last one/ current one) being audited are of potential interest anyway, and he is free to release prior years.

In fact, a tax attorney on Forbes wrote an article about this a few months back:

Trump could absolutely release those returns now – even in the middle of an audit. While an audit could result in a change (or two) to his returns, it does not change what Trump filed, signing “Under penalties of perjury, I declare that I have examined this return and accompanying schedules and statements, and to the best of my knowledge and belief, they are true, correct, and complete.” In other words, no matter how what happens as a result of the audit, what Trump submitted, he did so claiming that it was true at the time. If the IRS makes an adjustment (which happens, even with the best prepared returns), it shouldn’t substantially change the nature of the returns. And if the IRS makes no adjustment, then there was no harm, no foul, in releasing those returns. Trump could release those returns at any time.

Now she does say that as an advisor she would probably tell him not to, but that's on the base of said filings being picked appart and possibly revealing damaging issues, exactly what Trump claims isn't there in the first place.

Releasing his taxes would damage his campaign and he knows it.

1) He hasn't paid enough taxes or at all

2) He is not rich as he says. Although, I don't think you can find his actual worth out from his tax returns

3) Shady investments or overwhelmingly from one source

4) Exploiting loopholes

5) Not enough donations to charity

Hillary has actually paid $43 million in taxes since 2007 and that might be a lot more than what Trump has paid.

The media has to blow up this issue or people simply won't care and that only helps Trump.

Who's going to hack him? I'm sure there are people out there that would like to but so far it's been done for Trump's benefit.

Assange has come out and said he's for Trump and he's trying to throw the election to him. Russia clearly wants Trump in power.

When did the left lose all the good anarchists?

Damn. I owe a lunch to my friend.

We did a lunch bet on whether Trump would release his taxes. I thought for sure he would by the end.

I think the people who would vote for him don't give shits anymore. He really could shoot somebody and people would still vote for him.

Uh huh. My guess is he indeed has some incriminating links to Russian oligarchy, and that he is nowhere near as rich as he claims to be.

Do you have a source there? As far as I know he's only said that he's not for either candidate.

I oversold his Trump association a bit, but he would prefer his chaos to Clinton, who he thinks of as a personal foe.

Mr. Assange replied that what Mr. Trump would do as president was “completely unpredictable.” By contrast, he thought it was predictable that Mrs. Clinton would wield power in two ways he found problematic.

You guys really need to stop harping on this. It's a distraction from the important things. His tax returns won't change how tall and beautiful the wall is going to be. We going to build it fast and it's going to be incredible. Big league.

That's the problem with you guys. You don't win anymore.

I would bet my own money that not only do Bill and Hillary Clinton make more money than Donald Trump, they've also paid way more taxes than he has. I think that's the main reason he won't release them, he doesn't want proof that Bill and Hillary are better business(wo)men than he is.

Bernie or Bust peeps have something better to protest about, like this.

i just listened to a podcast interview with a bernie or bust activist at the convention and when asked about comparing a trump presidency to a clinton one she literally said that she doesn't believe there is such a thing as the lesser of two evils, just evil and good

these people are never ever coming around and we can only hope there's as few of them as there seems to be

"That's what he said and that's what I said" is a funny answer

It is an incredibly evasive answer. Manafort at no point denies it for a soundbite of "No, there are no ties to Russian oligarchs." He goes out of his way to do so.

Either he's being cagey because he knows the business or because he knows Trump's business.

I've read that article. Please be careful with what you say. Facts are our weapon and our moral high ground (no matter how futile they seem to be this election season). The more we exaggerate, even slightly, the more our political opponents grasp on to that and declare we are all manipulators.

he's against Hillary, which in the American political landscape puts you firmly for Trump

As a voter, yes. But perhaps he will leak documents on Trump, too. If he does, then he hasn't lied about who he prefers. If he doesn't, then he either did get the opportunity to (which I would find seriously hard to believe), or he really is only attacking Hillary.

The guy could networth 2 million a year and he would probably get a bump with supporters.

"Crooked Hillary makes 10 times more than me! Who's the real evil 1% billionaire here???"

Anything negative can be spun into a positive with this buffoon. Add some Benghazis, emails, and DNC corruption, then you get another Trump Bump. All Trump has to do is paint the Democratic party as corrupt and enough people will vote third party, thus splitting the Democrats.
