Hey SteamGAF, what are your favorite indie games or early access games that have been released this year? Looking for something new and interesting to play and there's too many choices in the steam store lol

My strongest suggestion would be Stardew Valley followed by The Witness and INSIDE.

Anyone know if those bluetooth Xbone controllers work on PC?

I bought my wireless adapter a few months ago and I haven't experienced any problems on my end. It has been under heavy use. I haven't downgraded to Windows 10 yet, I am still a very pleased Windows 7 user.

Pinball Arcade just updated, new table: Frank Thomas' Big Hurt

What The Evil Within needs is a melee system akin to God Hand. Not this weak-sauce distraction punch that's less effective that poking an enemy's shoulder and telling him to look behind him.

Did they fix the new trash UI? I miss playing some pinball... maybe I'll launch it this weekend

the new UI is still there but looks a little cleaner, but if you don't like the UI you can't go back to the old one, I am getting used to the new UI though, it's actually pretty decent w/ a mouse but sucks with a controller...

???

you can upgrade melee if you really want, but sebastian aint no busta.. he sees 5 enemies in front of him what does he do? baits them over, knocks down one or two w/ a close up shotgun blast, then calmly strikes a match and burns all of them

5 zambies defeated, 1 shotgun shell and a match ez

I know how to play bruh just stating that the melee in itself is blargh. Intentional sure, but like Leon Kennedy RPD wouldn't be messing with no love taps. He'd be all "you got jelly on your shirt" then fucking summerslam those five guys and their overrated burgers.

Also man these framerates really can be gruesome at times.

I have a few ones but I'm only going to mention Headlander because, so far it's been one of the largest and most positive surprises of the year to me. I'm not used to Double Fine's work, the only game from them I've played it Brutal Legend which was cool but nothing stellar, but Headlander is really one of the best metroid-like games I've played recently, alongside Ori, and because it released without much fanfare I'm afraid it won't receive its due credit. I've some hours to go through yet but if it keeps the pace it'll definitely figure in my GOTY list.

I've seen television advertising for Headlander, so it's definitely getting more push than most Double Fine games do thanks to Adult Swim being the publisher.

I'm hesitant with Headlander because it reviews like a Double Fine game, meaning a much greater emphasis on aesthetics and storytelling than actual gameplay. Which is alright if that's your prerogative.

... Anyways, to me, TEW and RE4/5 are basically the Dark Souls of TPS titles. There's a definite jank and an arguable lack of responsiveness to controls and movement, but the core gameplay does more right than wrong. I quite like the diversity in weapons and upgrades. I enjoy being able to carry all of them at once, as well as maintaining said gear and stats into NG+. (Although TEW locks the transfer to the difficulty you just beat, IIRC)

And much less self-loathing and slow walking than in Max Payne 3.

PS Vita has been properly and fully hacked, can't wait to add those games to steam :3

Details!

Brb, buying a copy of Metal Gear Ac!d 2.

Edit: Ah, Vita. That's that thing for people who like the things that people who like animated people like, right? I thought it was the other thing.

Gentlemen, we can rebuild it. We have the capability to make the world's first enhanced store. Steam will be that store. Better than it was before.
So ATraveller might find this interesting, along with a few other ChineseGAF members that might be around or lurking...

Enhanced Steam is getting support for a few popular Chinese Steam-related websites. As such, there will be a few additional Chinese-specific features available to users browsing Steam in either traditional or simplified Chinese.

YOC1yI5.png

Chinese names will now appear at the top of store pages next to the English names

tYvt6Np.png

A link will be available to the game's page on Keylol.com

lM0mkeh.png

Chinese-language support mods for games will be listed in the "Languages" section of the game's store page.

XpZMmNe.png

Keylol.com rankings will be available on the store page - this is similar to a Chinese-language Metacritic

oGOzwa9.png

Profile pages will have a link to review a user's account at SteamRepCN, a Chinese-language based SteamRep alternative.

Hopefully Chinese ES users find this information useful. There are a few more language-specific features I'm working on, so more is coming soon. If you're not a Chinese user, you won't see any of these language-specific resources.

Oh yeah? Well, I had that impression because only three people in my friend list had played it, and I didn't see anyone talking about it here on in twitter, so I thought it had released out of the blue.

I started Half-Life 2 a couple of days ago and, oh boy, I'm having the time of my life! One of the best shooters I've played in years.

It's alright. Best thing about it is that Jurassic Park: Trespasser was a direct influence to that game in terms of physics.

I dunno. I thought it was average. It was a pretty good tech demo though.

That shows how mediocre modern shooters are. After this one, I'm more excited to play Doom.

I was lucky,
the person before me said something about "a loop" so I kinda saw it coming.
Of course, I then wrote
"This is a loop... you'll see."

Mine talked about how he was doing hotdogs and it was sauce instead of blood. I said exactly the same, without knowing it was "multiplayer", after knowing it, I restarted and made an original one, about some snake that attacked us and bit her, and how I'm going for help while the other player must take care of her.

Part of me wants to play again and
write the lyrics of the Fresh Prince of Bel-Air =3

The person I ran into wrote their stuff out so well that I thought it was a CPU. He told me the truth and everything so I thought it was just the game having some sort of choice. On mine in return, I wrote Fuck You three times, not knowing it was a MP game lol

Well, seems Microsoft are going to prevent people cutting out Windows 10 "features" by preventing sets of group policy edits, unless you can get a hold of a education or enterprise version of Windows 10...

Fuck this noise.

I wouldn't be surprised if there somehow arose some kind of defense force arguing how locking up Group Policies is like the best thing ever. After seeing folks vigorously defend UWP, I believe anything is possible.

Also, Windows 7 is great you guys.

There was a Unit 731 defense force on gaf (with anime avatars).
Ther is a "Its okay to kill drug users" defense force on Gaf.
Surely there will be a defense force for that on Gaf.

That's pretty much my back up plan. Win 10 has been fine enough (with exception of the updating mess that happened over the last week for me), when Win10 becomes untenable, I'll go back to 7. Eventually I'll probably move my gaming only to Win 7 / 10 and do everything else on Mac, where almost all my software stuff is available

Is it still unsafe to use windows update with Win7? I accidentally did a manual check for updates this morning and I'm scared. Don't want none of that forced Win10 shit.

Microsoft is making a really great argument for why you want a free (as in libre) operating system. Sad that Linux is still totally unusable for normal users though. Maybe Win 10 will become so bad that eventually a bunch of software companies come together to "fix" Linux, simply to have a good dev environment for their own developers that they can fully control.
