How did you find this out? As spoiler-free as you can.

After making X number of jumps, I was directed to a specific area. Normally I think it would give you multiple options to choose something, but since I ignored the Atlas ball at the beginning, I was only given the one which was basically, "screw you I'll do what I want"

EDIT:

And now, down at the bottom right where normally quest things appear, it just says "Explore - Go Explore the Galaxy."

Oh yes I've found plenty plenty of flora and fauna. But huge things like the wines you encountered are rare, on purpose. Sean has stated that they about there but super rare. Hence my comment :D

Oh, wow! I didn't know that at the time! I mean I was aware that it was definitely large but I just thought some creatures would naturally be that way. Now I wonder if stuff like that can be killed..

Atlas question:
I said yes to the Atlas orb at the beginning and since then have warped numerous times without getting an "anomaly detected" message. Is this normal or a glitch?

I also landed on a moon which didn't have a dangerous atmosphere, so I decided that I'd take the 10min walk to my objective, this place didn't seem so bad.

That's when I discovered that everything on that moon was OUT FOR BLOOD. I got swarmed by these tentacle crabs the entire way that would knock out half my shields in a single hit.

Sounds like you just played Europa Report.

Can two people each have their own save?

I think it's only one save file. But you can make another PS4 account for them.

Blimey. How swiftly GAF can turn! I've see it mentioned previously but it really is either love or hate on here. Rarely any sensible middle ground. Looks like NMS is next for a savaging.

And honestly, I'm still confused as to how anyone feels mislead. Its been pretty clear to me for a loooong time now what NMS is and does. I don't expect any major disappointment when I play tomorrow.

On here? Look at the Metacritic user ratings.

600 love it, 540 hate it, and only 50 think it's okay.

A buddy of mine has been waiting for this game. Says he's willing to pay $120 for it. I look forward to his opinion once he gets his hands on the PC version.

Are planets all the same mass; do they have different gravitational pulls?

Are stars all the same? Any red giants or brown dwarves out there?

Are there any 'active' enviromental features? Volcanos, waterfalls, rivers or anything like that.

Thanks
no different gravity

stars are different but you can't fly up to them anyways?

no

Power Canisters, are there any benefits to having them in your inventory or are they just another crafting item?

Some of these planets are really cool.

I had one like that except dialed to 11 earlier. Spires everywhere, overlapping and intertwining. Then another with many raised squarish sections of land with holes punched clean through them. Another that had lots of massive rock arches with patterning etched into them and a gigantic slab of rock balanced on the top of them. The variety is pretty damn good to be honest. I'll get some of the screens off my PS4 in a little bit and post a few of the strange ones.

I preordered NMS through Steam (first time ever doing such in Steam). Any idea when I should expect the download to start?

Sean said they hope to have it done by 6pm Friday. I guess it could slide and not even land on Friday given the wording.

Wow, I just had a real "Cast Away" type moment for a bit.

Was shot down by pirates over a hyper-irradiated moon. To make matters worse, radiation storms would hit every 5-10 minutes and the moon was very low in the resources necessary to get back to space.

The only respite from the storm came from sitting in my broken ship and trying to hop out for 5 minutes at a time and explore the foggy expanse.

So glad to be out of that godforsaken system!

Got everything working and hey, where did the time go?

I explored the heck out of my first planet. It was a cold planet with many trees and warm caves. I found outposts, a trading center, all sorts of artifacts and temples, and 6 very different species of fauna. I must have spent just two hours on my first planet. All that said, I probably saw a very insignificant portion of it. I thibk that stations are the only way you could reasonably meet somebody.

The second planet was irradiated, but full of gold.

Both had a lot of foliage (the first was almost forested). The second had steep cliffs almost everywhere and flying finned worms.

The scale in this game is something else. I have never seen anything like it. It is almost intimidating.

My only real gripe is inventory space and that some items don't stack. I am always full.

I only just used my hyperdrive, so I don't know if that is the end of the tutorial and if I can use my preorder bonus now.

This is all I hoped it would be and more.

Found a planet i named graviton balls for day$$$$
Im so god damn rich money isnt really a problem and maybe I broke my game by just filling up my 24 slot ship and however many spots in my exo suit with these balls of light and then selling them all for about 540,000 units each trip to a really close space station or random trading station on the planet. Im gonna take a break now but it kinda feels like cheating but i dont wqnt to leave all that $$$ behind haha.

So you made it off the moon. Awesome! :)

Just found a ship that look like the Millennium Falcon but with a dong on the nose. I didn't have the money to buy it, Jim Sterling was right.

So I've got a shit ton of Nickel, Emeril, and Aluminum that is worth a lot. Sell it? I haven't really seen anything that it's needed for yet

Sad only made it 20 hours. But raised over a grand for Cancer Research and for the first time in years had a good number of gamers start to really be interestied in game design.

Hawkian

The Cryptarch's Bane
The planet with the underwater caves wasn't very resource-rich on the surface but this one in the same system is.
Weird sort of humid space desert

Still haven't seen any planets I'd call "lush," will make it that much nicer when I do.

Can I go back to found locations on a planet?
Is a trading outpost the place with the aliens that don't speak the language ?

Please don't lynch me for this but I have been on media blackout for this game but I just wanted to know if there was a storyline/campaign to this game.

In the sense that it has a start and finish along with the Minecraft-esque mechanics. Or if it's just a ridiculously immense sandbox to play around in.

Hi friends!

Can someone kindly tell me how one finds outposts that have trade merchants and the galaxy selling kiosk?

Also wondering if there's a local mapping system for planets and solar systems?

Thanks!!

From IGN: "Story wise, I can’t do much to spoil No Man’s Sky because there’s not a whole lot to spoil yet. You’re not given much of an idea who you are, what your objectives are, or why you want to achieve them, and there’s very little guidance beyond the first couple of hours pointing you toward the next objective. What’s there is vague to the point of being obtuse. If you’re looking for a good story, No Man’s Sky’s first hours won’t give you much to go on. Hopefully a little more will develop, but if it doesn’t, it’s at least more than what Minecraft gives us."

Started the game up and spent 3 hours on the first planet before I had to leave my house.

My social life is over for awhile

There's a super thin narrative, so more the latter, but not completely devoid of direction.
