As much as I want that Boba, paying nearly 16$ in shipping is overkill. Especially for something that isn't that massive in size.

it comes in a really well packaged flat-double layered cardboard thing. At this point, $16 is pretty much the average for print shipping. It sucks, but usps keeps jacking up their rates.

Also, the last print I ordered from Cyclops had, what seemed like, kraft paper lined with glassine on the inside, which is absolutely amazing.

Yes they overcharge for everything.
I've been saying that for a while, but as was pointed out, I guess you also gotta cover the actual materials they're using as well as the labor involved. But it is a bummer when shipping costs keep piling up.

I would rather the cost be hidden in the product. Raise prices by $5, but don't lie to me about BS shipping costs.

Yes, add it to the price of the print. That way, people can complain that they keep raising the prices on their prints. There is no way for them to win.

In theory they would raise print prices and lower shipping costs, making the initial cost more transparent so you don't get through checkout to find out what you bought it magically $20 more than what you thought. I guess it doesn't actually matter.

no.

the funny thing is how much profit there is in the prints. even with paying licensees + artists (who frequently just take more APs). or in the case of licensors paying THEM to make and sell a print.

Yes I know how this hobby works, but thanks for the update I guess? I thought you weren't interested in posters any more? Or maybe you just like to show up when you have the chance to try and correct me.

Posters = serious business

hah, yeah, I just don't get the weird hatred for shipping prices. It's expensive to ship posters.

I'm mostly out of the game these days, certainly no longer hoarding anything I like or majorly collecting artists anymore. I'm totally out of wall space and have a bunch of framed pieces that aren't even up, so it makes it easy to kind of hold off.

but I still keep an eye out, cause you never know when something will manage to squeeze into what little wall space remains... like Moss's TFA 5x5s.

You still need those Moss TFA 5x5s? ;)

Is the shipping price really a make or break for a print you want?

I pulled the trigger, but I think 16$ to ship something that's not coming from outside the US a bit much. Especially when I can send something much bigger and heavier for less money via Priority Mail.

I understand they have materials to purchase to ship out their art, but I'm sure they are paying wholesale prices for said goods.

Unless we see their accounting books, who knows what their money situation is and why they charge $16 for shipping

If $16 shipping is a deal breaker this may not be the right hobby for you.

$16 for good shipping. Mondo ships flat well.

The only time I get bummed about shipping is when I pay someone $15-20 and they ship parcel mail or something and the tube clearly shows they paid $9 to send me a shitty tube with Kraft paper if I'm lucky and tissue paper if it's my birthday.

Apparently you haven't tried shipping something via USPS, UPS, or FedEx as of late. $16 seems cheap as shit today.

If $16 is make or break on a print, something you only buy every once in a while, this is the worst hobby, next to video game collecting and backlog building you can have, I think. $16 over the course of a year or lifetime is nothing in the over all scheme of things.

Do consider that the tube does cost money. As well as actual time, prep shipping, and perhaps even gas/transportation used to do said shipping and preparation. So, it may have cost $9, but overall it was more.

Nothing beats spending $60 to ship a plastic waifu across the ocean in a cheap, flimsy box with a single sheet of newspaper to protect it.

Exactly, $16 for a poster that theoretically is going to be hanging on the wall for years doesn't seem like a deal breaker

A 2 pound package (which generally a Yazoo-ish tube and print is probably closer to 3lbs) From Austin to the cost retails for 10.25 shipping. Add in cost of tube and materials (probably a couple bucks) and labor to pack it, and you're easily getting to that 16 dollar mark. EASILY.

Same thing for a 1lb flat... except flat prints require even more precision (aka, labor) to send safely.

I've shipped a lot of posters. Mondo's prices seem completely reasonable and normal. Priority at those weights, and with the cost of the tubes they use, is not cheap. Nor is labor to pack them.

Just got my Rocketeer print framed. It came out alright.

Frame is some cross between a bronze/brown hue. Really picks up the jacket.

The one issue with this hobby is actually deciding where to put things. We just moved into a new house, so we've slowly been adding things to our walls.

Nice frame up. The second issue is when you have no wallspace anymore to put things up. ;)

This arrived today. It's a good Stout.

Yes it is
