Can we stop it with the PS4/NEO comparisons?

4k has been desired for a long time among movie fans since it's a major film standard. HDR alongside it makes for a significant improvement in picture quality. But HD is already HD. as of right now we are just being forced into UHD to make money for the television companies to get a push out of more expensive televisions
But what else will we do until the 7th

i guess your right, but i don't really see the appeal right now i guess. i'm fine with my 1080p 50in
What kind of cache? eDRAM?
Also, are you talking about 2 stacked dies? How are you gonna cool that thing? Die stacking works in mobile SoCs, because they're extremely low-power to begin with.
We look back on the reaction when we first learned about PS4K,Scorpio and mid gen upgrade.
hahahaI'm just going to bet on this either being a HDMI and other non-gaming components upgrade (VR breakout box built in) that could result in 4k gaming (using the same existing power of the ps4, so it'd probably be very simple games if at all possible).
or that it's actually PS5 that Sony's talking about (due to this being a shorter generation and a likely 2018 release possible for the ps5) and the devs are thinking it's an inbetween console due to mixed messaging.
I really hope so. BF1 in HDR would probably look incredible.NBA 2K17 is going to support HDR. Is that the first 3rd party game to do so? Pretty excited to see if other 3rd parties will support it this year as well. FFXV with HDR would be gooooooooood.
Maybe, but seeing is believing. Once you see the 4K w/HDR there is no return.

Edit: Oh, people got tired of it. Sorry, won't do it again.
And both would die if Cell was around.
I'd agree with that, and as far as we know, that strategy was to launch in Q1 with as much as 5.5TF. As you say, it's unlikely they'd let MS sway them from this just as a general rule, but I'd say the Scorpio announcement gave them even less reason to do so. I suppose they could go Option B then "react" to Scorpio with a 10% upclock That'd be pretty funny. The thread got sidetracked by someone who mentioned the Scorpio and its been downhill since then.
I personally would leave it at the sentiment that Sony does not have to worry about the Scorpio while pursuing their own strategy
This is actually the perfect venue. You show them the standard version they can buy and play today, and the enhanced version they'll be playing if and when they upgrade to Neo. All theirs for one, low priceBut developers will still want to sell the game on other platforms, and by revealing the version of the game the smallest audience will actually play seems counterintuitive - that is assuming Neo updates add more then just an increase in resolution.
I generally agree, but it sounds like Sony are pushing Faux-K techniques that won't waste quite as much power as normal. Guess we'll see how that goes.I really can't see there being 2 different distinct Neo modes. If there is a 1080p mode with a lot of bells and whistles vs. a 4k mode that has the same effects as standard PS4, who would bother with the 4k mode? just upscale it
It also depends on the dev and the game. Something like Nom Nom Galaxy probably wouldn't get or need anything more sophisticated than 4K native with downsampling. Games that already have "settings" on the PC version will likely get multiple performance targets, depending on the console and the display in question. Top-tier 1st-party stuff too, I'd imagine. It's fairly clear that from the leaked presentstion that dev feedback indicates 'many' games are doing some kind of additional enhancement at 1080p while others are 'just' downsampling from the UHDTV buffer when outputting to 1080p. Which is preferable to the user might vary a lot depending on what's on offer.
Fixed. This thread constantly remind 40 fellow PS4 owners how outdated & old our PS4 are.
Not cool, not cool.
Did you guys hear something?don't ignore me bruh
My final predictions going into the press conference:
Locked in.
- Price Points: $249 USD / $329 CAD Slim & $449 USD / $529 CAD NEO
- Additional NEO Features: 4K Bluray Capabilities, HDR?, Improved Game Fidelity, 5G Wifi (Like Slim)
- NEO Game Fidelity: Improved Lighting/Textures, etc @ 1080p@60fps or 1440p+@30fps
- NEO Power: 5 TF (+/-.5 TF), GGDR5 or similar RAM, Slightly Improved CPU to decrease bottlenecks.
- NEO Design: 10lbs (+/-1.5lbs), Same design as Slim but larger with an extra layer.
So who is in on day 1?
I am!
Slim + Neo - absolutely. My body and bank account are both ready: part funded by trading in OG PS4.
I've been day 1 since it took me 7 days to work out if I'm day 1 or not.
This...
I have probably sold more 4k TV's just by having friends and family coming over to watch movies than a regular person working at Best Buy. Once you see a good 4k Set that has been Calibrated and in HDR it is quite stunning. Gaming in 4k is pretty incredible. You should see Witcher 3 at max settings at 4k/60fps. It is sublime.

Why would you get the Slim and Neo? Or are you thinking that Neo will not come soon and you will get a Slim in the mean time?
Predictions:
PS4 Slim: $299 w/ game bundle, possibility of standalone at $249 but unlikely before Black Friday I think.
Have any specs leaked?
Have any specs leaked?
Yeah, I'm not expecting anything above 5 tflops and a jag. I probably won't be a buyer anytime soon unless it can play most games at 60 fps.I expect them to be near Osirisblack's initial leak. Anything higher than that and i'll be pleasantly surprised. Best to keep my expectations in check and not be dissapointed
The leaked Slim boxes are standalone console boxes, so there has to be a standalone MSRP set by Sony.
