ReCore uses "sandwich time" tech once you die (edit: or not?)

Sounds like either engine problems or the game was rushed.

The latter would be ridiculous given it was originally touted as an early 2016 title - what the hell were they thinking with that?

The former is questionable. It doesn't look like the sort of game that you'd make in Unity (not that I know a thing about game engines). I'd have thought UE4 would have made a much better fit for Recore.

I'll also do some tests from another sample vid , keep in mind the user in the OP is saying he's getting 2 minute loading times on every loading screen

Loading screen 1: 42 seconds
Loading screen 2: 40 seconds
Loading screen 3: 46 seconds

I also dont see any 2 minute loading times in this video or this video or this video or this video which all have similar loading times

Nearly all evidence points towards ~40 second loading screens, not 2 minutes.

This isnt exactly speedy, but its a far cry from what this user is apparently having

None of these are under the same conditions as the OP though. They're not even deaths.

The OP clearing up some claims people are making about him saying "all" his load times were 2 mins.

Was just going to post that

- Has the newest patch installed, there might be a day 1 patch though
- Super different loading times, can be 20, 40, 60 seconds or even 2 minutes but just if you die
- New Xbox One S that has been working with 0 problems
- Adressing other minor stuff

Yeah his issues have definitely been echoed by other players now, we'll see on review day if its massively widespread or not, even so the fact this stuff is happening not good

He can relax though, nobodys calling him a fraud

You did say he claimed all load times are that long. Where did he say that?

Here

Even then he says "Its not even if after youve died, even going into areas it takes a while to load up"

He shouldve specified more clearly that he meant just deaths, hence why I had to post on the last page for people to kill themselves (not in that way lol)

This game straight up looks janky and unfinished as fuck, so I'm not surprised by this horrific loading times.

That is failing to be specific in the case of other areas, not a positive assertion that it's also 2 minutes. And certainly not "all" like you said.

The gist is that he seems to have meant all loading times are bad. (Reasonable statement based on available evidence.) Not all loading times are as bad as dying loading times. (Also true.)

Well theres still a lack of specification, hence for the sake of clarity that I asked people to die in the game and see what happens, and there does seem to be some sort of issue

Bottom line is the loading times are long, and this includes the "shorter" loading times that some users are experiencing.

I'm pretty sure everybody would appreciate shorter loading times right? I don't see the need to try and downplay it.

If the game is fantastic then things like loading times will be noted but largely overlooked by reviewers. Issues like that have never stopped other games from reviewing very well.

Yes absolutely, and PressStartKofi is encountering some other issues on the XB1 version that need to be fixed.

I only have to say one thing...

Seems like a cool game but im definitely gonna wait for a few patches before buying (unless the pc version runs great from the start)

Personally, the dev in me wonders what technique they are using for loading. I wonder if they are using threads on the different cores (pun not intended) to load or nah.

EDIT: It seems to me that they are reloading objects like enemies and their AI and also all those little objects that you find around the world all over again instead of streaming their loads in as the user plays. There's definitely some sequential loading going on instead of async loading.

Yup, even those "short" loading times are too long.

Probably saving/syncing to the cloud that's causing the long loading times.

A save to the cloud is a couple megabytes at most...would not take that long. Also, I would ask any of the users to play offline. I doubt that saving is the issue. I presume that there is a bug in their loading (as it is a single player game whereas Destiny and such are games that need to bring in other players) technique or they designed their way of loading wrong. I know I have loading issues with Unity in my game (and it is a mobile game) but I'm also not using great techniques to load, more brute forcing stuff and I gotta change stuff around (not using sprite sheets is the biggest one...lol).

Just speculating if there there's not a lot of nearby data centers that has ReCore activated yet. Every ReCore player must be hitting only a few servers in one place atm. Hopefully it's something simple, or easily fixed.

Let's say that if (IF) i would be reviewing the game right now I could report about long loading times too.

(most probably I would also add the game is quite good)

Then I would say that in that hypothetical situation you aren't alone

I hope they can fix this issue, I'll be getting the game regardless but it might hinder the experience for me. Even 40 seconds seems like an eternity when playing.

At least the gameplay looks really fun from the clips I've been watching.

No reviews out for this yet? Or am I living under a rock?

Tomorrow at 8am EST.

It takes half a minute before the loading screen background loads there, but the worst thing (aside from taking so long) is a loading animation that chops up and even freezes, visibly sharing the strain.

Batman and Robin on the PS1 was the longest loading screen I have ever encountered. Its hard to believe a game is this day and age could shatter that record.

So, since my video was used as an example of loads that are about 30 to 45 seconds, I figure in fairness I'd track the loads for the largest open world area in the game, and dying and respawning in that area.
https://youtu.be/-gn35bPAJiY

Even despite this, I still enjoy it, really want to compare it to my PC and compare these loads.

Pleeeaasssseee let there be another patch. This game should've been delayed a month or two

They really need to fix this.

What difficulty level were you playing on? The AI didn't look too smart.

The game doesn't seem to have a difficulty select. It actually isn't that they are dumb, the a.i companions you have with you are actually really good at fighting, and if you just sit there they will take aggro off of you really fast. I've done whole fights where I don't press anything and the corebots can actually win, and keep a combo going on there own. It's a nice change of course from having a.i partners who suck and need to be babysat.

So this basically confirms what the guy was saying in the first place, loads after you die, can push close to 2 minutes. Just loading a level is shorter than that, but when you die appears to be the big long load.

Yep, I figure I'd show the largest area in the game, to give the extreme example of long load. Like I said, it's a problem, but despite that I still like playing. It's literally the only real problem, hoping they can patch it or nice PC can rectify it.
