The face detection thing for the People section in Photos is unintentionally hilarious. It's created a folder of my screenshots from Pokemon Go because it detects the little character avatar in the corner of the screen as a face. It's also created a whole folder of one of my friends doing a duck face completely separate from the normal folder of her.

Seems to think me with and without a beard, and with and without glasses are four different people.

If you want to see a lot of iMessage apps, you can open Messages, open Apps, tap the four dots on the bottom left, tap Store, tap the magnifying glass, then type a single letter and search. That's what helped me look at a lot of different apps and sticker packs.

Does anyone know why there's a search for a random address in my spotlight search (when I pull down on my home screen) right underneath Siri suggestions? Where is it coming from?

Oh damn just seen on reddit that you can turn off the need to press the home button to unlock the phone in the Accessibility options. Gamechanger.

You can merge these. It had a bunch of different versions of me too, but you can merge them into one.

It thought an Egyptian sarcophagus in the Met was one of my colleagues.

You can merge two instances of the same person, though. Just give them the same name and it'll offer to combine.

It's ridiculous that they made the default option for that to be off. It's how people have been using it since the 5S. I for one thought my phone was broken when it wouldn't work.

Sometimes when I close my macbook and open it again, colors are fucked up. At first I was afraid that it was a faulty screen, but going into screen settings brings back the correct colors.

Normal in Sierra beta?

Never knew you could merge them. Cheers.

I think they might have made it the default option because of how fast Touch ID is now and I remember a lot of people moaning about how they were accidentally unlocking the screen on the 6S when they just meant to press the button.

Ooh nice, apps I already had are starting to add sticker support now that the store is up. Tap My Katamari just had an update that added 14 stickers to iMessage.

Interesting, I never had that problem with my 6. Still, always frustrating for a non-savvy person to have things changed and then hidden deep inside settings.

Man... I couldn't get it to work in the beta and I STILL can't in the GM. I'm on an iPhone 6 and it still makes me press home a second time.

I recently switched from a 6 to a 6S and the speed of Touch ID on the latter feels near-instantaneous in comparison when it comes to unlocking. They should let you chose between either unlocking with just touch or with the button press as well when setting up the phone after the software update to iOS 10.

Anyone on iOS10 GM (10.0.1) having an issue when iMessaging with someone else on iOS10 and not being able to send background effects by holding down the blue arrow in the text box?

I was able to do this in a previous beta, but now it no longer works and when my friend sends something with an effect, all I see is some tiny background txt that says (sent with balloons), but I never actually see the balloons...

Any ideas?

EDIT: I found the answer online... it seems that you need to go to Settings>General>Accessibility>Reduce Motion and set that to OFF. Not sure why? I've had that setting ON for sometime, and in previous public betas I was able to send the effects no problem...

Do you have Reduce Motion enabled? I do, which means I can't use/see any of the effects.

(I have Reduce Motion enabled because I can't stand the whole zoom in, zoom out thing when you open apps etc.)

any chance Finder does a better job of remembering how you keep your window open? Like out of nowhere starting a month or so ago I start getting this preview pane on the right side of Finder opening on every Finder window. Not sure how that started or how to make it never come up but it keeps coming back.

it wouldn't be so annoying if Finder didn't open so tiny (why it does this I don't know).

For those of you who don't use the stock Mail app, what do you use? I was using AirMail, and I liked it - aesthetically, and its functionality - but the additional folders/labels it added to all of my accounts was a nuisance. Sort of going through my options at this point, starting with Polymail first. This one I like because you create an account for the app itself so you don't have to re-add your accounts on iOS or on the chance you do a full reset, but on OSX the inability to resize entirely is a pain.

I only use the stock app, but I hear good things about Outlook

Spark by Readdle also seems to get a lot of praise. I tried it once but didn't like it - though I can't remember why I didn't like it, so I'm gonna give it another try.

I've been eyeing AirMail for a while, but I refrained from buying it because apparently it's pretty buggy, or at least the Mac version is. Or was. Did you have any issues?
How many folders and labels does it add?

I disagree.
After testing the first Gold Master of Sierra fresh install nothing restored I went back to El Capitan. First Gold Master was semi buggy. Even in things like Youtube 60fps video would drop frames (Stats for nerds! new Safari) went back to El Capitan and frame drops went away also UI was more snappy. (rMBP)

I know they released another Gold Master Candidate wonder how that is...If the final release has these issues with 60fps video in Safari it will be annoying as fuck.

Hopefully final build that comes out 20th is a lot better.

Yeah, Outlook seems a very polished alternative from the options I've been looking at lately.

Hm, alright. I'll have a look at Spark next. Doubt I'll be sticking with Polymail. It's too slow, least its iOS client is despite being on the exact same connection as my rMBP.

It adds a main label simply named [Airmail], and beneath it there's 5 sublabels: Done, Memo, Send Later, Snooze, and To Do. Most annoying bit is that I never used these features but they were there anyway. If they made it so that on use of the function, it adds the label, rather than forcing them from the start to all of my accounts, I'd feel better about it. Inbox by Google handles that really well, for example.

I actually haven't noticed any bugs in my time using it, nothing serious enough to add hitches to user experience or anything. It did the job well, and it has a lot of options for customization that I appreciated. Was sleek, quick, you name it.

E: Oh, Spark isn't on Mac yet. I'm gonna have a look at the iOS app, either way, just to get a taste. Mac version is in the works, it seems.

Ew. That sounds annoying. Especially since Apple seemed to have finally nailed graphical performance (in an initial release, no less!) with Metal with the release of El Capitan.

Did the Public Beta ever get the second GM for OSX Sierra? I don't remember ever updating but nothing pops up in the App Store either.

I'm still on Public Beta 8 "10.12 Beta (16A313a)". No update is showing up for me yet. I guess I'll just end up on the final version when it comes out.

Anyway, I really hate that iCloud Drive doesn't sync my folder settings and custom icons. I have all my folders set up the way I want them and they don't appear the same on the other end. So stupid. If anything it should support custom icons and show them in the iOS app as well as syncing them to other Macs.

Also I wish I could buy a 100GB tier for $2 instead of having to go to 200GB for $3. 50GB just isn't enough.

It was annoying, first GM did not seem decent to me at all. Also, had issues with storage management which people reported to Apple. Keep in mind I did complete secure wipe of my rMBP & installed GM after did not add any of my apps or anything as fresh of an install as one can get and still felt very "beta" for GM.

They ended up putting up new GM which you have to manually request and DL again. Better just to wait for final which should be out in another 7-8 hours for me. I'll make sure to report back on final release :)

Also, good to see peeps chatting about MacOS feels like step child these days. :p still my fav OS. Super powerful tools too if you know your way around terminal, while offering normal users hassle free operation.

Are you in the US? Maybe it has something to do with me being in Europe.

I am. But that shouldn't matter. I know a lot of people had issues with no having the image search. I'm positive I saw posts on how to fix it in one of these threads but I don't know where..

Is OSX Sierra going to be up for download at midnight Cupertino time?

i believe it always goes live at a similar time as iOS does, so like noon in the US, 6-7pm in Europe.

really excited for that universal clipboard and having my desktop folder synced to iCloud Drive. As someone who uses CleanMyMac, i wonder how the built in "storage saving" features perform.
