Dragon Quest Builders demo out now

Cool. I'm curious to see Japan's take on this genre.

Personally looking forward to seeing how a well-established studio with a large amount of resources can handle the genre. I don't think we have a single "builder" game from one. It feels like a bit of an untapped space. Minecraft doesn't really count, as it's still just Mojang working on the main version.

I'm still not sure how to feel about this getting localized. On one hand, I'm happy it is, but on the other - I imported it, assuming it wouldn't. No way I'm double-dipping now.

I can confirm that the game runs fine on Vita, at least!

Yeah, the market has been flooded with terrible clones in the past few years, which is why I wasn't really paying attention to this one as well. But the demo clearly demonstrates a lot of polish so far, already had a good chuckle from some funny writing.

The game is super enjoying and relaxing. Definitely going to be picking it up day one.

I have a 2TB HDD and I'm noticing micro-stutter when turning the camera as well along with slight performance issues.

The 'stutter' is barely noticeable to me. Man, this game seems like it's gonna be fun as hell. Looks like it'll be scratching a certain gaming itch.

Just finished the Vita demo. Seems like a pretty fun game and it runs really well, no complaints. I guess I'll start thinking about importing the physical english version.

I heard that happens when you're looking between the screen and the page rapidly. Just do one or the other man!

I think I'm going to go vita. Mostly concerned about save slots and the potential for my kid to save over mine. On the ps4 I could just switch profiles but on vita I have to be a be cleverer ha.

Also, I'm not sure I'll be done dqvii in time for this and I'm playing every evening haha

I'm really worried about this game. I mean, it looks fun, but I feel like they're making an already niche game more niche, and that they're going to base the future of localizing DQ games on this. Oh, DQ builders didn't sell, DQ must be a lost cause overseas! I am glad we are getting this game though.

Heh. I highly doubt this. We're probably going to get DQHeroes 2, and we're probably going to get DQXI. DQVII just launched on 3DS and DQVIII is slated for next year.

I seem to be stuck, I inspected the second citizen places before the quest and now the map has a Q on empty space where nothing happens :/

Heroes bombed yet here we are with builders. No doubt heroes 2 will come next year with 11 probably being in 2018

I did have a brief go on the Japanese demo but I think the days of me playing untranslated Japanese RPGs are long gone.

Have spent a while playing and have loved what I've played so far and would like to pick the game up at some point. Square seem to be on a bit of a roll this winter, I could quite happily buy this, Final Fantasy XV and World of Final Fantasy at launch but it seems more than a little excessive for games of this type.

I'll surely end up getting all three at some point though.

Bahaha! That's a good one Donnie. I'm actually almost done the second volume. =P One more issue to go!

The demo ends just before you get the mallet that allows you to break stone and cut trees.

They just say "You can enjoy the rest of the game in the final release!", and you can continue your empire of dirt.

Endless potential. After playing it I thought this could be the best thing ever.

My son loves Minecraft which I absolutely hate. Downloaded the demo for him see if he likes it. Gonna play with him and see if anything clicks with me. Has the potential to be a massive blockbuster.

Awesome can't wait to try this out. And now I know what to get my nephews (big Minecraft fans with PS4s) for Christmas!

One of my favorite features of this gen (at least on PS4?) is being able to download something to my PS4 at home while I'm at work!

Liking the demo and I'm almost sure I'll get the game, but I don't think it will be big. Hell, even in Japan Minecraft is still king.

This is not Minecraft with RPG elements, but an RPG with Minecraft elements. It misses a lot of what Minecraft was in terms of freedom and variety.

Only rumored for PC so far right? Dont wanna buy on ps4 and then it comes to PC again like dragon quest heroes

I played the JPN demo. It was fun. Day one.

People compare it to minecraft but it plays very different. A lot of the stuff is superficial comparison

I'm kind of shocked by how good this game is, and also how well it runs on the Vita. I'm also surprised there hasn't been anything quite like this before, where the Minecraft/Terraria formula is taken and spun into a full-fledged RPG.

This just became a definite day-one purchase for me.

Demo for the Vita version as well? Nice! No interest whatsoever in buying that version but at least that means I can try it out while I wait and hope for a PC release.

Always wanted to get into Minecraft but the one time I attempted it, I was put off by the aimlessness of it all. Need a little bit more structure in my games to keep my attention nowadays.
This looks like being that game. Looking forward to downloading tonight.

Well this thread just made my day. Was looking at this game yesterday thinking about getting it when it comes out, now I can try first. Looking forward to trying it after work.

Found a dragon. It kicked my sorry ass so hard lol

Combat is kinda bad, even worse than Minecraft would say. You can't even more while attacking so its so easy to get hit.

I'm really loving it so far. Giving more structure to a building game is an interesting approach, even if I tremendously enjoy creative, 100% free and open ended games. After spending dozens of hours cooping Minecraft, the lack of coop is a disappointment, but we just pass the controller around.

Bonus points for the DQ1 references and all the tongue in cheek narration and dialogue.
