Rise of the Tomb Raider PS4 vs Xbox One Graphics Comparison/ Frame-Rate Test

PS4: 1920*1080 gameplay, 1920*1080 cutscenes, 30fps
XB1: 1920*1080 gameplay, 1440*1080 cutscenes, 30fps (+ minor tearing only on original XB1 model)

Both versions suffer from input latency, only the 360 and PC version fare better.

So looks like the input lag wasn't the console's fault.

This comparison highlights what an astonishing job was done on the 360 port.

I'm amazed that the input lag is still there. Holy shit.

I played this on the Xbox and it was noticeable immediately.

Lol what the hell were these guys doing for a year? Definitely not getting now until it hits 9.99.

Well I'll be crossing off Nixxes as one of the good remaster devs.

Good question. I think the issue is partly to do with deadzones too. Or at least it was on XB1 when I played it. If the PS4 version solves either one I'd be glad. Must say I'm a bit disappointed in Nixxes.

Shadows, SSAO solution and specular reflection quality is better on PS4 than on xbox1. Also motion blur is used more frequently, nice!

They should have worked on fixing the dead zone/input lag issues instead of wasting resources on that terrible VR mode.
 
Seriously this is a bad look if they're trying to get the PS4 player money considering they have UC4 and this came a year late with an arguably worse version. Like maybe they shouldn't even have made an effort?

shame the input lag couldnt be fixed. i thought it was great on xbox one so if you have no other means to play it it doesnt look like the ps4 version is bad by most means. just not much better

I played the whole game on the higher difficulties. In my opinion, it's waaay overstated here. It's fine, though you may notice it. Look back at the cross-section of reviews when the original release came out. It was on several "best of" lists.

Did you default to poison arrows for every combat encounter? Cause that was what I had to do with the Xbox One version of the game, just to get halfway through it, before giving up due to how boring it made the game (and finding out that the PC version would be released in January, a mere three months later).
 
Remember how ND detailed how they induced 1 frame of latency to make TLOU 60 fps on PS4? I wonder if a multithreading set up is similar in this game on the jaguar to make it reach 30 fps on xb1 and ps4.. hence the increased input latency on those machines vs. PC and xb360 @ 30hz.

The game is overly, overly forgiving when it comes to difficulty. You can miss half your shots and still beat it on hard without breaking a sweat.

But it's still not an excuse. Being able to aim accurately and swifty... is fun.
 
Not having to deal with screen tearing is nice but I expected more with the extra year of development and the overall hardware gap. No temporal AA is a huge disappointment, and then you have that input lag.

As someone who completed this game on Xbox One, and loved every minute of it, I'm happy that PS4 gamers have just as good of an experience to play through now.
