Pokémon Sun & Moon |OT| Ultra Beasts and where to find them

My current one is Adamant with:

Hanmer Arm
Earthquake
Shadow Claw
Rock Slide

I may change Rock Slide for Ice Punch when I get the chance.

Is it? There are a lot of things that can counter it and kill it in one hit. It's fairly slow and healthy or after a burn it has trouble killing its counters in 2 or 3 hits depending on the build.

It's good to switch in but it's not indestructible or particularly difficult to KO.

Apparently the fortune teller tents can give you iconic lines from previous generations.

My favorite one from looking at the list is the engrish Looker intro.

A lot of things that OHKO Bewear? I'd like to see that list.

My success in Battle Tree can be attributed to the following infuriating strategy:

1) Red Card Mimikyu Sword Dances until the opponent attacks, breaking his disguise and swapping the opposing Pokemon out.
2) Mimikyu sweeps with either Shadow Claw or Play Rough and OHKOs one or two Pokemon.
3) Mimikyu dies and depending on the remaining Pokemon I either swap in Black Sludge Toxapex who stalls forever with Toxic and Recover or Metagross who cleans up.

It's been working.

It sounds like you are having a pleasant time. I'm still trying to figure out what team I want to finish the game with. That and realizing I've side-tracked my progress with over 60 hours of breeding. At least I have some well bred Pokemon to work with.

I'm sure I'm just one bad dice roll from being annihilated but so far it's been a relatively dependable team.

Assuming you're running that particular attack nature and even with full bulking investments. Anything with a good special attack running moonblast, psyshock will kill in one hit. Most other cases, it's in 2 and a good amount can outbulk the bear, more so with a burn.

This changes if you choose a defensive nature for it's bulk over an attack one but...

+ Mega

Will kill in 2 and will outbulk it.
zukan_468_290.jpg

Can 2KO with flinch and can out bulk/out survive it.

And more.

I misphrased it, but there are counters to the bear and ways to work through it without it doing too much back.

Edit: Things with high attack + Brave Bird, Play Rough, etc.

Alakazam and Reuniclus aren't going to switch into a shadow claw with a smile. Sylveon isn't thrilled about taking an Earthquake either. I'll give you Togekiss, but that's a list of checks rather than hard counters.

Has anyone confirmed the Synchronize bug? (Fainted Pokemon in front of party will apply their nature to Synchronize even if they aren't running the ability, as long as the active Pokemon has it.)

Seems like a convoluted cop-out to just breeding your own Synchro army, but it would be nice to know.

In circumstance where it's not a switch in, they will win out.

Sylveon also outspeeds it.

If you're able to get a burn on the bear, it becomes all the more manageable.

Im not saying this to be aggressive or anything, I just disagree that it is a top walling threat when there are ways to deal with it. Both doubles and singles.

It has uses, but it also has drawbacks to itself, especially since it doesn't have a means of healing itself. Unless of course drain punch and other tutor moves is patched in.

Edit: Lucario + Close Combat and anything else with decently high attack will kill it as well.

Bewear under Aurora Veil fears nothing

That's also situational, requires hail, will get hurt by hail, and is beat by fire.

It works with Compoundeyes, for what it's worth.

You know what'd be great?

If the Masked Royal and the Professor appeared at the same time and it turned out it was a different person all along.

it'd be like how everybody expected the Unova gym leader trio to be Plasma's Shadow Triad until a BW2 flashback cutscene had both of them in the same scene.

Staraptor? Are you counting Fluffy, because a Jolly Reckless Brave Bird isn't a OHKO after even a little defence investment and the following Ice Punch will be death.

I never said bewear was an unbeatable wall, just that switching in becomes more difficult when you can't rely on any stray Fire move to kill it.

With Choice, most players will run choice on it and it still kills.

Lucario will kill too.

Edit: Actually my mistake there, the calculator doesn't automatically cut for contact moves but for fighting types it would still kill.

Yup. My personal favorite is the "Begone... Intruders" from Gen 1's Channelers, but there're 1 or 2 I love that I can't remember.

I know one of them's about Cut, which got me thinking... The only former HM's I've seen are Rock Smash, Flash, & Fly. I know Surf's the only somewhat-useful one since the only strong one is Strength (Which is a worse Return), but did any others make the Cut?

Waterfall is about too.

Hey guys so I'm thinking up a new team for when I restart. So far, I have:

Pichu
Phantump
Popllio
Dratini
????
????

Anyone have any ideas for my last two?

Vast Poni Canyon would be your best bet at this point.

Thanks I will head there.

Is this your fist time fighting the elite four? 55+ should easily handle them. As for grinding areas...that's as good as it's going to get for the moment.

Yeah it's my first time which is why I wanted my team at level 60 so I can prepare for any surprise as I going into the elite 4 blind so I want my team to handle anything, especially since I don't have my trusty Charizard with me and two of my Pokémon lack their final moveset as the TM for Dark Pulse and Earthquake are post game.

This too.

I love it how Talonflame getting hit by the nerfhammer allowed the superior regional bird to shine.

Situational, yes. Lefties make hail (mostly) a non-issue, and it helps confirm a few kills. Fire under Veil is also largely a non-issue. Even without it, I'd just switch it out. It's not like you HAVE to stay in against obvious threats.

So ~22 SOS calls on average for HA? That's reasonable enough...

You mean, having for example a timid fainted pokemon on slot 1, with any ability, and a living synchronize abra in slot 2? Shouldn't be hard to test...

It works with Compoundeyes, for what it's worth.
What do you mean? Compound eye working with a pokemon not in slot 1 if the pokemon in slot 1 is fainted?

Just got challenged by (post game spoiler)
Hau at the league. That was really awesome. His opening stance is different from his usual one too! Hau is great

Finished the game
32 hours
I think this might be my fave pokemon ever and it has dethroned heart gold.
That ending, so good.
If Pokemon Stars really is a thing, I hope its a sequel or something, I want to see what happens next because this story actually interests me.
Lillie the best.

Finished Moon finally alongside my fiancee playing Sun. Took roughly 70 hours with 70~% Pokedex completion so far. Beat E4+Champ just narrowly considering I was completely out of revives, using (all Lv49~55):

Mimikyu
Lurantis
Toucannon
Golisopod
Alolan Sandslash
Toxapex

Highlight was Mimikyu sweeping the entire Fighting E4 roster with Swords Dance -> Play Rough (at that point I only had one revive left). Probably the best Pokemon game with some minor gripes. Only immediate downside I can think of is the Festival Plaza vs X/Y's system.

Onto the post game now and thinking of doing some competitive doubles. I really want to find a way to use Merciless Toxpex.

I can also confirm the Trubbish market hasn't crashed yet.

I probably misunderstood the question since it was worded weirdly, but having a fainted Pokemon in slot 1 with Compoundeyes will still up the chance of a held item appearance.

do you even know what fluffy does lmao?

Because that is not killing a Bewear.

Yes and I reiterated that the calculator I used didn't automatically account when calculating physical moves that make contact for it in the post below?

The point was that regardless it's manageable to take it down without much issue and even more so with a burn?

I didn't know that after you beat the
Elite 4 and become champion and then rechallenge the Elite 4 you're defending your title instead of just becoming champion again. Hau and won and now I'm facing a new character named Ryuki.

This made the game even better for me then what it already was.

Did you take into account an Assault Vest then?

Like p much all the Bewear users are putting on it?

Finally I have finished training my Pokémon for the Elite 4, opted to stick with Mount Lanakila as it was quicker to get back to the Pokémon center.

But seriously that was harder as I normally do my training after fighting trainers in victory road but this time round there is no victory road meaning no trainers and it's dumb.

You mean this one?

As a Pelipper trainer I am proud that my little water bird rose up in the ranks.

Yes... Moonblast and Psyshock both kill it in one hit with choice or orb. If not there are bulky enough Pokemon out there to handle it in 2 turns and come off with not much damage done to it.

Does anybody know any good training spot, trying to train my team to level 60 for the elite 4 and Mount Lanakila just isn't cutting it for me.

60 is a bit overkill for the E4.

Sandile and Rockruff can cover cover rock and ground type for you.

Mudbray can do the same plus steel.

Skarmory covers Steel and Rock, it counters fairies well.

Alola Grimer covers Poison, so it could be a decent fairy counter as well.

Pancham and Stufful cover fighting.
