Rocksmith 2014 |OT| - Everything is improved, except the OT.

And me. They need to fix that shit, although I will say the new calibration seems to have made an obvious difference at my end.

Funny you're here Toy, as I'm just about to read your TRR Green Day speculation.

Edit - oh, you're not Ted. Anyway, I look forward to the meltdown when they put Brain Stew in the game without Jaded attached to it.

I had a work day and then straight to the TDEP concert after, no time to write that article so ted handled it.

I think they'd put in Jaded, at least I hope they would since they got the full Gypsy Queen outro with Santana

Dillinger eh? I've heard good things but never really got around to listening to them for whatever reason (apart from the comedy Justin Timberlake cover with Mike Patton). I should give them a go.

Did you see there's new NIN, by the way?

Fingers crossed for Brain Stew, but wasn't there a Judas Priest song they didn't do it with?

JINX TOY

Just had to check the song out - it only came out this year? I quite liked it given they've spent most if their time since Insomniac churning out total dreck, although when did Billie Joe's vocals start sounding processed? He's going to hit Rihanna levels if he's not careful.

Just thought I'd ask, the USB cable is universal right? I'm thinking of picking up the PS4 version since it's on sale just to have a copy for when the PC version gets too finnicky.

Also, does the game still have the audio lag problem with HDMI connections?

I use my cable with the PC and Xbox One versions.

Cable in universal, you can alleviate lag issues by using optical out to a stereo (if one happens to be located near your ps4 and tv).

So, I only have an acoustic guitar and noticed they added microphone support for picking up on acoustics which is tempting me to pick the game up on PS4. I also just ordered a Blue Yeti mic for other reasons, so I am hoping it works well once I set it up for this mode. Has anyone tried this mode out yet?

I've only used Microphone Mode briefly but it does seem promising. The Rock Band microphone I had already plugged in didn't put out a hot enough signal for reliable note detection, but it was already promising so a decent microphone + preamp setup should solve that. I have more than enough gear around the house to try it out properly once I return from a tropical holiday vacation. I brought my guitar but not a console. Priorities.

I just bought this.

Wow! That's quite a commitment to Rocksmith!

Naturally the goal is to wean myself off of it. But when you consider the fact that outside of going on vacation, I've made myself play a bit pretty much every day since I bought the game like 2-3 years ago. I think I can justify the expense.

Also, I need to spend some money to hit a spending goal for my credit card sign-up bonus.

Some day when I have more money saved up I want to get myself a nice guitar in that price range as well. Either a nice Strat or perhaps a Les Paul.

It actually seems to work really good! It could tell when I wasn't playing the right fret with pinpoint accuracy. My blue yeti mic picks up everything so I need to find the right time of day to enjoy it. I have a 8 week old so I need to play when she isn't feeling fussy.

I hate U2. Would only be in for Sunday Bloody Sunday.

No love for New Years Day?

The only U2 album I've ever loved was Achtung Baby, so anything from that or some early classic singles would be great. I have a feeling it will be Beautiful Day and similar toss instead though. Fucking Discoteque.

Anyway, at least we have a choice to buy it and the songs aren't forced into our libraries in the next update, unlike my phone.

I actually hate that song because when I took drum lessons in elementary school, one kid had that as his practice song during class and I heard it like a million times.

I think there's a time, maybe when they released One, where every song they did
became overplayed that way. And then of course there's Bono, all you need to do is mention his name in a room and everyone's backs will be up.

Speaking of One, ever seen the Chris Cornell video? Brb

Local Gamestop has a retail copy of the 2014 Remastered PC edition with cable for $30. A better deal than buying it online. I guess I'll give it a shot.

I'm a blues guy- are there a decent amount of songs?

I'll be using acoustic as well.

I might have to return my new guitar.

At first I wasn't going to worry about it, the description on the site only mentioned minor scratches. But when I got it there was a pinhead sized chip in the headstock down to the wood as well as some flaws in the finish and pick guard. Also, the serial number and "Made in America" on the back of the headstock is barely legible through the finish. Overall minor, but annoying issues.

Was gonna give that a pass until I went through the soft case that came with the guitar for documentation. There's an inspection card from Gibson with the date, serial number, and name of inspector. Along with a dated picture of the guitar when it was inspected.

It was a different guitar. Different serial number on the card and the picture was of a Heritage Cherry SG with different pickups versus my Ebony black one.

I think (hope) if they can send me the proper documentation and maybe a gift card or something as compensation for it not being the quality listed on the website I'll keep it, otherwise I might send it back.

Sorry to hear it. I had always assumed Musician's Friend was reputable, so hopefully it's just a simple mix-up they can straighten out. Some cosmetic quirks in a guitar shouldn't be a big deal and can certainly save you some money up front. After all, wear and tear on an instrument you're actually playing is inevitable.

My primary focus is on the feel, tone, and mechanical soundness of the instrument. Do the tuners move smoothly or do they stick? Can intonation be set correctly? If the action is set low enough to enable easy playability, is it still relatively free of fret buzz in typical trouble spots?

Plays fine. And yeah, I wasn't too concerned about the cosmetic stuff at first. It's just that, combined with the fact that it wasn't listed that way in the website and the wrong documentation is what got me concerned. A modest gift card and the proper documents and I'll be right as rain.

So I bought the retail version of RS for PC and I had an old acoustic pickup lying around- unfortunately the pickup has a wired 1/4" jack so I have to find a 1/4" coupler somewhere.

I hope I can find some decent acoustic blues tracks somewhere.

PSN did their thang and leaked the U2 pack. And yes, Rocksmith didn't include a song called 'New Year's Day' in their first pack of a new year because that would make sense.

And yes, Beautiful Day is in because fuck my life.

Sunday Bloody Sunday will be day one for me, the rest of it is completely uninspired. Nothing from Achtung Baby, despite The Fly and Zoo Station and One being on that album.

Vertigo
Sunday Bloody Sunday
Where The Streets Have No Name
With Or Without You
Beautiful Day

Is it easy to convert songs over with Customsforge? I like old R&B/Blues and there isn't really any of that directly available.

You could play acoustic through an USB microphone

There's some blues content in Rocksmith. With 950+ songs there's probably some stuff you'd enjoy

If you are asking if it's easy to make the song yourself for the game, then no. It takes quite a bit of effort to make a good and playable song for the game. The first time I made a song I probably worked on it for like 15 hours in total over 3 days learning the tools and shit.

If you are asking about adding songs you download from customsforge, then that's fairly easy on PC. You just need to own 1 DLC song (the standard song people agreed to be the default song was Cherub Rock since it was a pre-order bonus and if you own anything else you need to re-pack the file with the right steam-ID) and then add a file to the game installation folder.

You need a modded console if you have it on PS3/360, doesn't work on PS4/XB1.

U2 Song Pack – $11.99

U2 ”Beautiful Day"
U2 ”Sunday Bloody Sunday" – Eb Standard
U2 ”Vertigo"
U2 ”Where The Streets Have No Name"
U2 ”With Or Without You" – Alt. Lead / Alt. Bass [Drop D]

There's only one blues pack that I know of and it has some OK songs. Expensive tho.

There are some decent R&B/Blues tracks on Customforge tho. Surprisingly there are no accoustic blues tracks, all electric (Freddie King, Albert King, etc) and no Muddy Waters.

At least I can learn rhythm of a few Marvin Gaye tunes if I want.

If I can learn Freddie King's Hide Away it will be well worth the cost and then some.
