Wow, so not only over shooting on the price of the thing but charging for online too.

Nintendo needed to hit it out of the park with this thing and get mass market appeal on day one, instead that's going to be back to back strikes.

You don't need to be empathetic towards me.
That's $400 Canadian.

Lol. D.O.A. It's almost in the PS4 Pro price range.

Wtf, Nintendo.

Typical "Nintendo is Doomed" posts, nothing really unexpected.

Though I bet some of the same people probably paid full launch price for an XB1 or PS4.

sry bro but maybe the majority of the people are not living in a nintendo bubble where you must buy anthying that nintendo throws out

not gonna pay 300 € (i live in europe) in 2017 for a ps3 with a handheld controller when i can get a ps4 pro for 360

I'm sort of blown away that people think $299 is too much.

299 with those specs and two stronger competitors with far superior current game selection for the same price AND paid online? I was interested but will wait until a sale or price drop. That also translate to a higher price in different regions. With a pc, ps4, ps4 pro, xbox one s and scorpio coming that is a hard sell to anyone besides hardcore fans.

Wtf Nintendo I dont have baby hands, those Joycon buttons are tiny af. Im waiting for a Switch XL or something, fuck this shit. Im not paying $299 US plus being forced into purchasing a Pro Controller as well.

I was expecting $250 and cautiously hoping for $199... $299 is DOA for me until a massive price drop... shits more expensive than a more powerful Xbox One S that plays 4K HDR Blurays even though the Switch has essentially the hardware of $50 china tablet sans Maxwell Tegra

This is some system wars nonsense right here.

"sry bro" but I'm not in that bubble either. I skipped Wii U.

Would have preferred 249 but 299 doesn't kill it for me.

I UNDERSTAND THAT MAY BE TOO MUCH FOR PEOPLE ON A BUDGET, but the DOA posts sound like hyperbole.

The vast vocal minority of people think they are charging too much.

Fixed that for you.

$299 and paid online took this from a definite buy to a "wait until inevitable refresh and price drop" for me. :(

Oh well, at least once I buy it the library will be more filled out than at launch. I bought a 3DS waay after release and love it, seems I'll be doing something similar with the Switch.

That pricing is DOA territory, imho. Too close to the PS4/Xbone and based on what they've shown so far (or not considering they haven't said anything about specs), they haven't justified it at all.

Incredibly Naive
Wow I was all aboard the hype train with switch... This coupled with the online announcement with the rumored specs? Yuuuuuck

Maxwell Tegra is expensive. Nvidia gonna make a killing.

PS4, X1 have proven massive third party support and the hardware to match it's price. Nintendo does not.

Do you have a piece by piece price list for the Switch components handy?

How is this system wars nonsense when the post i quoting seemingly is ignoring competition?

But whatever im sure the majority is overreacting kappa

You rendered people on board with this as living in the "Nintendo bubble" (my last Nintendo console was a SNES in 1997) and boiled the product down to a "PS3 with a handheld controller" (sure). Sounds like nonsense to me.

The price is higher than expected. Uhh, paid online too? Its not DoA for me, but gonna wait for a definite price drop first and good games of course. That Nvidia tax ain't helping Nintendo.

Could we wait before it's finished before claiming doa?

People are saying that is too high a price for them, me included. $299 plus paid online with tax is approaching $380-$400! Clearly the price is turning a lot of gamers away. It's in same price range as the ps4 and xbox one s with weaker hardware and lineup. It's going to be a hard sale to anyone besides the hardcore day one fans.

Do you? Nintendo has proven to be fairly out of touch with the market, so far from what I've seen 299 is a huge mistake and I think they are going to not get near the sales

You're the one who seems to be in the know on the price, don't try and turn this around on me. There's no point in arguing over what the future sales are going to be because I don't have a crystal ball, I can just say they have one in me and I'm pretty happy with the price.

Way tooo much. Nintendo is out of reality on this one and in console gaming in general. The system will struggle at this price with its less graphics.

I do not get why you guys seem married to a number that, in my opinion, was not at all grounded in any reality or facts at all. This thing was never going to be $250, ever. The flabbergasted, entitled responses from some people in this thread are incredible.
Are you serious? People don't want to pay 300 for some weak ass hardware and then 60 for a game and probably 50 or 60 for online play are entitled? Lol gtfo with that shit. Nintendo knows they're always re secondary console so asking for this much when they're in that position is laughable.

This is exactly what I'm talking about.

This thing plus a game, subscription and tax will run over 400 dollars. Probably another $60 for a pro controller too. That's a big nope.

Boy Nintendo better have their online networking and OS in top shape if they're asking people to pay to play online.

Still can't believe this seeing as they're going after a cross section of the mobile market which paid online access is laughable.
