Nintendo going all Tonya Harding on Switch.
I really don't get their strategy at this point.
I'm thinking it's more of a game to capitalize on FE Mobile game coming out.

Fire Emblem Direct pointed even more to the direction where Nintendo wants one more full year for the 3DS with Switch acting as this year's home console. I mean, this has to be it, right?

For myself, over 300k would be a good start, over 400k would be very good, over 500k would be amazing. What would some of you consider "good" for the Switch launch?
Well there is no way to know without enough supply. My point is even if it wasn't chances of it selling very much is low. That's why they're in no rush to restock it. I doubt retailers are begging for more stock.

The fact Pro weekly sales continue the same (~8k) even after big drop in hardware to all others shows supply is holding it.
Thanks for tracking this. I've got a small request. If it's cool with you. Can you add the previous week as well as the current week? Just to get an idea of what PS3 sold in its comparable week.
Revenue wise, it's slightly iOS tilted, but companies will sometimes release on Android first if they want to see if their pricing needs adjustment prior to the iOS launch. They might also be concerned about potential day one server traffic.wait, is Japan more favorable to iOS or Android, relative to the worldwide market?
Because Sony restocks somewhere and get sold out again? That is the point of supply constrained. The fact it's selling that 8k consistently also means it's not extremely sold out either. People that want it can find it somewhere.

I don't think there is enough gen for that... PS5 will come early than PS4 to PS3 but PS4 already beat the peak year of PS3 in Japan.PS4 is gonna outsell Ps3 on Japan and maybe even Wii, what a turn around.

I suppose the Fire Emblem Gaiden remake is a project not as resource-intensive as other main titles of the series (see the smaller window compared to the one between Awakening and Fates), so they can have a nice send-off for the main series on the platform, while diverting most of their resources on the Switch game, coming out next year.
About FE Switch, I'm actually glad they've already announced it, despite no visual at all, since it sends the message that's where the series will go next.
Sincerly, not comprehending that much why Musou is also coming exclusively to New 3DS: it won't do that much, and the Switch version should still be the best selling version. I suppose this goes in line with trying to support the 3DS, even if with mostly outsourced / smaller titles.
Ehh. They still want to make money while Switch gets up and running .They did basically announce that the future of the franchise is on Switch.
today Direct is a good move for Nintendo Switch communication.
finaly they started to build actual bridge across 3DS and Switch, confirming one of their most important potable series coming to the console next year with a main brand new exclusive episode, with a spinoff clearly "better" on Switch than on New 3DS
I'm pretty sure tht possible Switch buyers will know the performance gap between the two versions and will not distracted by a New3ds version, while they already know that the franchise is coming next year (not a "just started development")
They would need something similar for AC, Pokemon and possibly MH.
This is exactly the kind of move the lack of which I was complaining about in the past weeks
Bandai Namco also announced Dragon Ball Heroes: Ultimate Mission X for 3DS. It's out April 27th.
3DS Dragon Ball Heroes: Ultimate Mission - 90.119 / 299.001 Bandai Namco 2/28/2013

Did not expect that, is Dragon Ball Heroes still that popular? I mean, it's been almost 3 years since the last 3DS game.
Hi guys, remember me? Now with a new FE announced for 3DS and FE Musou coming to New 3DS, how do we feel about the Switch as a Nintendo portable for 2017? Lolololol.

Question for you sales nuts:
Since Switch is a hybrid device, will you guys see it as a failure if it doesn't sell at least LTD Wii U + 3DS Numbers?
I forgot about that SMT game. Seems like Nintendo and all major Japanese publishers are working under the assumption the 3DS is still the major platform hence MHXX etc. As far as support goes 3DS seems to still be getting a fairly substantial amount. Can't wait for Chris to come tell me how there won't be anymore major 3DS releases in 2017 from Nintendo!!!!!!
Atlus isn't Nintendo!!!! Haha.

The fact they're not putting a bullet in the 3DS immediately is absolutely no surprise.
It always looked like they were slowly winding it down this year before transitioning the handheld franchises to the Switch, and it turns out that that's precisely what they're doing; the addition of a presumably-low budget Fire Emblem remake in no way changes that, and they've announced way ahead of time that the future of the series is to be found on the Switch. This is the first tangible move they've made to show that one of their stalwart handheld franchises is making the transition; the fact that they aren't immediately dropping the 3DS doesn't change that.
Also, just look at that Echoes footage; that would either look entirely unacceptable on a HD platform, or would require a lot more work than the project probably merits.
It's not going to, so by that criteria it would definitely be a failure. I'm going to say it's a success if it does roughly PS3 or Wii levels.
