I think 30-40 million lifetime is what Nintendo will have to hit for Switch to at least be the modest success that they need it to be. I don't think that's an unreasonable prediction to make today.
Don't be ridiculous now.Even 10 million by 2020 seems impossible.
They said by the end of 2020, which is about 4 years.By december 31 2020 or January 1 2020? No way it sells 40million in less than 3 years.
GAF is less than 1% of the potential consumers and honestly every thread's just the same 20-30 people losing their minds over every piece of potentially bad news.
That 90s fad? Pffffft. Nintendo hasn't had a fresh new popular ip I'm decades brahYou don't think 15 million in 3 years and this system is getting Pokémon?
Even 10 million by 2020 seems impossible. The reaction on GAF is what, 90-95% fiercely negative? You keep seeing people over and over say they are cancelling their preorders even. No way the first day will sell through with all those cancellations either at this point honestly.
1-1.5 mil of the initial 2 million day one sold out is a safe bet yeah?
No chance in hell. I'm guessing 15 million worldwide by 2020.
What did DFC project for the Wii U?
What did DFC say about the Wii U?
"We are once again lowering our outlook for the Wii U. Right now it is looking to do about what the GameCube did during its lifespan which is mainly be another system for Nintendo first party product," Cole said, referring to GameCube's lifetime sales of under 22 million.
"I think Nintendo is carving out a different audience. I think that being said it is the right strategy. The audience they are going after is not the ones that Sony and Microsoft are going after. Right now they need to go after Nintendo fans first. They should have done that last year but better late than never. So in answer to your question it is the right approach but really Nintendo now is just trying to do as well as the GameCube so they have a base to sell first party software," Cole said.
I wonder what Gamesindustry projected for the Wii U lol

That's not a bad estimate, especially when they start adversting Pokemon games for it.
That's a bit still optimistic no? At $400 with no game (at least in Canada), I don't see it moving that much.
How much did the 3ds sell in four years?
Don't think Switch will do better than that...
That's... bad. Really bad, right?

In the report, the research firm is officially lowering the lifetime sales forecast for Nintendo's struggling Wii U. Analyst David Cole told us that Wii U is now expected to reach global lifetime sales that are only a quarter of what the Wii sold (over 100 million).
Dear, it's 2017 already.I actually don't think that's too unreasonable. Gives it 4 years. The 3DS did 60 million in 6. So it seems entirely doable to me.

25 M units OR less as of 2013 (1 year into the Wii U lifecycle).

It is not Gamesindustry. projecting DFC Intelligence is the research firm who have projected these sales. Gamesindustry is reporting it.

They predicted 25 million in 1 year for WiiU?
Are we sure they arent a joke company?
It's $300, going against cheaper, more powerful, systems with FAR larger libraries.
So no, I don't.
Anyone who thinks pokemon alone is enough is Naive,Once they start taking big franchises from 3DS and putting them on Switch, that makes perfect sense.
Anyone who thinks a dumb online system is enough to make people not want Pokemon is truly naive.

And? It's a hybrid system and those aren't.
