Wubby, what plastics do i avoid using the nippers on? i know someone mentioned avoid clear plastics.

Hard clear plastics. Like the kind you will find for canopies on aircraft models. I haven't had any issue with using them to cut clear parts on Bandai kits though. Bandai uses a softer plastic than other kit makers, though some of their old old kits can have plastic that is a bit hard. I do believe the package says not to cut anything larger than 3mm as well. If you are cutting anything thick make sure to do it at the bottom and not at the tips.

How do you best cut the nubs on clear parts, then?

I need opinions. Looking to get a new action base for my RG Build Strike. Should I get that GP Base or just a clear blue Action Base 2? I can't decide.

Currently working on a 1/100 Vidar, trying to use a pink Gundam marker (the paint tip ones, not the actual ultra fine ones that are actually meant for this) to panel line it because I was so in love with this piece from Ippei;

I really like the way its coming out, but the amount of clean-up on each piece is like tripling my build time- been chipping away at it for the last month, and I'm only now almost done with the inner frame, most of which is going to be covered up anyway. A lot of fun though; can't wait for the finished product, and hope it looks as good in-person as it does in my head.

Is that the Full Mechanics Vidar? You mind posting some pictures of what you've got so far? I'm tempted to get it but I'm still on the fence.
Also, how detailed is the model? The prices I'm seeing for it leads me to believe it's on par with a HG.

Bandai plastic? Can be tricky sometimes. Some clears like to crack easily when cutting. cutting thin layers at a time with sharp nippers like god hands can work ok. Like shaving off a little at a time. Those small photo-etch saws also work well ( http://hlj.com/product/HSGTP-3 ) like these. Or the ultimate, the ultrasonic cutter! ( http://hlj.com/product/ECT58040 )

Come on, do I look like I'm made of money? I didn't even spend that much on the air compressor!

Working on this guy. It was on my wish list for so long, but when I popped into Tatsu the other day they happened to have it! :D

Going to do a first for myself and use ZERO stickers.

Keep us updated on your progress!

I blame you people for this. I had some Christmas downtime and decided to build the 3.0. And it was fun. I was just going to straight build, then I was just going to line, then I was just going to flat coat. But that was it!

Now I have built the 3.0, the Zeong, Wing Proto Zero, a Rick Dom, Barbatos, and am 90% on a Gouf Custom. I also have a backlog of 3 mega size kits, Nu ver Ka, Kampfer, Zaku, Gouf 2.0, Sniper II, Strike, Turn A and an HG Hy-Gogg to start practicing painting. Yes, that's right. I now also have an airbrush, and am a painting booth and compressor away from painting some kits.

I moved and have way too much downtime, so I needed a hobby. I really just enjoy building when I've got a game in the background. I'm actually hoping I'll be able to do a decent job painting and break even reselling kits on eBay, and only keep my absolute favorites.

TURN A GUNDAM #40 Sea Battle on the Moon

Dont like Turn A's space so far, I miss the large colony of Gundam Wing/Seed Origin and what not. The moonbase is also of weird design, why couldnt it be like Wings or gAGEs? A city underneath a water canal filled with whales is too unrealistic (how are there whales on the moon?) and too risky.

Also why are they in wooden houses and still using like early 1900's era stuff? Just hard to believe considering the fact its a moonbase.

Maybe if we just go back to more missiles and such the show will be entertaining somewhat.

It's the Full Mechanics, yeah. I feel like I should stress that I haven't fully cleaned up some of the lines yet, so they're still a little rough looking- the 1/100 IBO stuff is definitely less detailed than an MG, but it's more than the HGs- it feels closer to a 1/100 scale RG or something to me.

Oh? I've never built a RG (my RG Sinanju is still sitting in the box :p) but I often saw RG's described as a mix of all three main grades, where they have the size of a (standard) HG, the inner frame of a MG and the level of detail of a PG. Is this not the case?

Thanks for the photo's btw!

Waiting to see how IBO ends before buying Vidar lol. You never know when a gundam character will do something stupid and turn you off to them.

Is this referring to Riddhe? :p

I love me some Macross! I've watched and at least "liked" every single series/ova/movie. Does anyone make Valkyrie kits a la gunpla?
Bandai makes a lot of snap-fit Valkyrie kits for various Macross series. Here's a recent Macross Delta kit, for example.
Love me some Macross Frontier
I built that. Many people were mad I fumbled the transformation on the show hah.
never paid attention much to macross kits these days, feels like a 15-25 dollar RG kit will blow away any macross kit. imo

rg's more detailed than the old MG's, definately not less, i guess the 2.0 MG's are equal to RG details?

I was watching IBO last night. My roommate saw it and was like
ihVe no clue what's going on but that blonde dude is obvious the main villain and that blue haired dude is a bad ass.

I kind of agree with him.

I started working on my Proto Zero again after 2 years of sitting on the shelf when I noticed how much paint was scraping off through the clear coat.
So while I am preparing this guy for re-painting, I'm taking this chance to detail him up, LED's plaplate, custom parts, and anything else I can think of before I run out of ideas.

Really cannot stand the legs and colors. Looks like two mechs grafted together in the worst way possible. The rest is alright.

Base Vidar is king.

Gundam Origin 4

RIP Dr. Minovsky, what a terrible and tragic way to die

I hope Amuro father wont have anything bad or such happen to him, kind of want to see their father son relationship more in the coming episodes, but also to see him at least advance things with technology.

The Kimaris Trooper and the Vidar are probably my two favorite designs to come out of IBO, but I kinda feel like this has none of the charm of either. I dunno, maybe it'll grow on me when we see it in action.
