Famitsu review scores (3/1/17) - Zelda: Breath of the Wild gets perfect score (40/40)

Good score but it is famitsu, I'm sure Zelda will get a lot of other fantastic reviews.

Anyways some of the salt from some people regarding BOTW 's perfect score from edge and famitsu is quite entertaining lol

I don't particularly trust in famitsu reviews and scores but so far every thread about good zelda botw reviews has been full of "x gave game y a 10 so I don't care about their reviews" and it is extremly annoying and makes no sense.

Expect a lot more of it tomorrow.

Dismissing famitsu is not the same as real outlets

What's your reason going to be for dismissing the first 4/5 it gets from any outlet?

I won't dismiss any score, it's that particular reviewers opinion. Plus I won't even get to play the game until Friday so arguing over scores for a game I've yet to play seems ultimately pointless.

I do like the implication that I'd be unhappy over a less than perfect score though. For the record I really, really disliked both SS and TP and the high scores for those games makes me wish I saw what the vast majority of reviewers saw in them! I hope BotW won't be as equally disappointing for me personally!

People actually think this game won't review well?

A lot of people seem to think that after a couple of previews. I think it will review extremely well. I'm predicting it's the only game (for any platform) to hit 95 or higher on Metacritic from this point forward.

EDIT: "From this point forward" meaning the rest of 2017. Oops!

I know it was already linked but that day was amazing.

It's interesting how in every other famitsu review thread it's generally accepted that famitsu's reviews are essentially meaningless but when it's brought up in this thread you're just salty 🤔

Here is the thing, while that is true, the 3 reviews for botw have been a 10/10 from a place that doesn't give them out very often in Edge, a 94? From a magazine which is second highest score in magazine history, and now this where even if famitsu scores are suspect this is still only the 24th perfect score. The tea leaves seem to be pointing towards botw being a special game where famitsu's review might not be too far from the average.

Yeah its really bizarre.

Like nobody in this thread is seriously saying BoTW doesnt deserve the praise but some of you are going full defense force for Famitsu of all things.

It's Famitsu, they are irrelevant and don't have any editorial line. Their scores mean nothing. EDGE 10 on the other hand...

I have no doubt it's going to review extremely well, but just because a person doesn't put weight into a famitsu score doesn't make them "salty". I have the game and the switch on preorder and can't wait to play it but I couldn't really care less about what famitsu says about the game because they hand out high review scores like candy.

GTA and 3D Mario will always have a chance to hit 95 or above.

Oh yeah definitely. I forgot to add that I was just talking about the rest of 2017. I think there's plenty of games that can reach that level. I'm expecting an RDR2 delay (2018 release), but Mario Odyssey will have that chance.

I regret not preordering the limited edition but then again ... I wasn't totally onboard with switch until it has more softwares I want.

When XIII-2 got a 40 I stopped putting any credit whatsoever in famitsu reviews. I'm sure Zelda is insane but this review should be taken with a grain of salt.

This thread has now made me want to buy Nintendogs
Wait for a potential Switch version, it could be pretty amazing with HD graphics and make good use of HD Rumble besides touchscreen controls.

They already have a HD dog model, made for Smash.

People thinking this game is going to be a Nintendogs / JoJo / any other shit game on Famitsu's perfect score list type situation

lol

I know it "doesn't mean anything" from Famitsu but their list of perfect scores has some real good games in there. Not every one deserved a perfect score maybe, but the list is filled with some of my fondest gaming memories.

So, first Edge is overrated and now Famitsu is untrustworthy. Which is trustworthy exactly? Polygon?

This is like the last area in RE7.

every review outlet that gave a good score to GTA IV or Skyward Sword is untrustworthy. unless they give a low score to BotW. then they're trustworthy.

Same score as Skyward Sword!
A someone who was very critical over Skyward Swords
Playing it was fun
Characters were excellent
And the story was engaging
But the overworld was pathetic and that one fuckin boss that escaped from Mario Galaxy ruined it a little for me

Highly subjective - I hated it. Played through it completion twice, too, to make sure I wasn't crazy.

What characters besides groose and maaaybe ghirahim would you describe as "excellent"? Zelda is adorable, but I would classify her character as such.

Engaging how? It felt very stock fantasy / anime to me and was possibly the least interesting way they could have gone about starting off the legend of Zelda

Means nothing. Very eye-rolling.

Come off it. Brand name is what most games ride off of. That goes for any industry.

It's just getting a pass because it's Zelda.

That is such a romanticised piece of artwork that it's actually cheesy.

Means nothing. Very eye-rolling.

If I only experienced the first and last 10 minutes of a Zelda story, I personally don't feel I'd be missing much.

When I play a Zelda game, I know for a fact the story isn't going to surprise me. The story of a Zelda game always reaches a middle bar and never goes past it, and that's okay, because I'm not asking for a deep story from Zelda; I have Xenoblade to provide me a story-focused experience.

Why are people avoiding story spoilers for Zelda? It's literally the same story every time :p

That forced high voice was awful. It sounds so sarcastic and fake.

Not as bad as the Deku Tree's. It's really amateurish voice acting I would expect from a cheap, budget title. I thought Nintendo were all about quality?

They gave Skyward Sword a 10. It's just brand name at the end of the day.

Because it's Zelda or because it really is a good game?

Alright bro...we get it...
