Why do I have to keep adjusting the screen size every time I put the colsole back in the dock? Sometimes it needs to be 100% and then it'll need to be 96% next time I undock/dock it.

Don't think so, just e-shop and friends. Which you won't be able to use anyway.

Does the Switch do local shared updates - i know the options to do games is there (or is it? sure i read that somewhere). If you come across another switch user you might be able to update via him or her.

That's not bad. So im jot really missing anythingm This thing seems delicate so I probably wouldn't go to best buy or mcdonalds for their wifi to update this thing.

Dammit, just realized I left my charging cable on a job in SF. Dont want to have to go all the way back there to get it, espcially as tomorrow is my first day off in almost 3 weeks.
Was planning on playing Zelda most of the day.

So whats the quickest, cheapest way to get a new charger that would work with the dock? Would BB have anything good?

Is there an all around agreed upon "best" screen protector? Is it tempered glass? Any particular one?

I've got the screen protector that came with the official case on my Switch now, but I definitely see some little scuffs (I guess from the dock, sigh). Would tempered glass be just as susceptible I guess?

Edit - also, since I see that this nyko charger exists: Nyko Power Kit - Nintendo Switch https://www.amazon.com/dp/B01NB0G478/?tag=neogaf0e-20

Does anyone know if this works properly with the dock? I'm ordering another dock from store.nintendo.com but it doesn't come with a charge plug, and I'd rather not spend $30 on the official one. What's the most cost efficient solution for providing power to the dock?

Unless the dock is extremely abrasive, glass protectors should be ok unlike the plastic films that are most screen protectors.

However, even glass can be scratched, but if the dock manages to scratch glass, Nintendo has f'd up.

The lack of gameplay time was bad enough but the parental control app also lies.

I downloaded the demo of Snipperclips and accidentally launched it. Closed straight away (X on menu) before it launched.

PC app says I've played 1:10hr of it, even though I've been in another room the whole time.

The way I see it, it's much better to scuff up your screen guard than the screen itself. At least you can easily replace those on the cheap.

I got the $8 PDP officially licensed screen protector. It's total dog shit. Total pain to get on (it's literally the exact same size of the console sans bezel) and impossible to get on air bubble free. Glass is the way to go, they're just not readily available yet, Amazon says mine won't be here till next week.

There is a tiny bit of wiggle on the joycons when connected to the tablet, I'm assuming that's normal? Just a small micro movement. Only asking cuz it doesn't happen with the straps but then those suckers are clearly locked in way tighter.

The Eshop is a currently web-based thing, right? The 3DS and Wii U Eshops were native, why not this? Seems strange...

Has anyone had issues with HDMI switches? I tried plugging the dock into mine I use for all my consoles and I can't get it to output to TV, but as soon as I plug it in directly it works fine. It's not a huge problem as I can swap some inputs around, but I did like having all my consoles on the same input.

I have mine connected through a toggle switch and it works great.

I wonder if it matters if we dock it after playing handheld mode for a little bit, where there is still considerable battery life left. I don't want to screw up the battery. I know a lot of new devices have smart cycle counts for the battery, wonder if it is the same for the switch.
Li-ion batteries don't work that way, thankfully. They're best kept "around 50%".

The only real "damage" would be if you continually take it from 100% to 0% and use up all the available charge cycles. I'm not sure how many the Switch battery is quoted as having in that respect. But it'll be hundreds of full charge cycles.

Yes, me too. The only thing I can think is that the NS could maybe be HDMI 1.4 and my HDMI switch and amp are HDMI 1.3?

Edit: even taking my HDMI switch out of the equation my NS still doesn't work with my Amp.

It's an Onkyo HTX-22HD that works fine with Apple TV, PS4, for power state mirroring over HDMI CEC.

Does headphones through USB work? Sony Gold headset for example, bluetooth dongle that goes into USB.
I know you can't pair with bluetooth normally, but just wondered if devices with dongles work, has anyone tried this yet?

Can you use a Ethernet cable in the dock to connect to the internet with the tablet in undocked mode? You could with the wiiu obviously but I can't figure out if it's possible with the switch.

Nvm: answer is in op

Someone offered up this one earlier.

Uch...really? I was holding my screen underneath some daylight to check for scratches after reading about the docking issue. No scratches luckily, but I do have a speck of dust underneath the screen. It's bugging the hell out of me :/

I hope Nintendo will patch in more powering down options as it is not handy at all in my set-up to go to the docked Switch (behind the TV, so yes, also desync issues to boot...) to hold a button to then finally have the option to power the system down completely. Same for turning it on for that matter, unless I'm missing a trick. Both should be possible on the controllers surely?

That said, I continue to be satisfied overall by the controllers and the system itself despite the continuous build up of design issues, oversights and disappointments as being reported here and elsewhere. Fingers crossed Nintendo will manage to fix a few of them through software updates.

I feel like a lucky SOB. No scratches (though I now put felt inside the dock to be sure anyway), kickstand works great, no desyncing, and even running through towns in Zelda no observable slowdown. I almost feel guilty for it.

Almost, because playing Zelda on the TV and then in the morning in your bed is utterly divine.

it's designed to be lot into sleep or standby mode. Wake it up by pressing any button 3 times.

Got it all set up and wow this thing is great!

I can feel myself using this as a handheld like 90% of the time. I have bigger hands and have no problems with the joycons.

Can't wait to get Zelda later today!

Can anyone with the separate official power adapter tell me the length of the cable? I can't seem to find any confirmation of this anywhere... I expect it's the same as the one bundled with the system?

The volume from the headphone jack is absolutely pathetic. Even with super easy to drive ear buds the volume sounds soft at maximum.

Hmm, using Bowers & Wilkins P3 cans and it goes pretty loud for me. Like over my threshold loud so I'm playing on about 3 notches from the top to drown out TV.

You sure the jack is in all the way? Headphones damaged? (Hopefully not!)

Check the special notices and intellectual properties section in the System Settings.

Switch has the Netfront Browser NX built into it. Made by Access.

But it isn't user accessible.

i want everything on this thing

i just want to play every game on this in handheld mode
This is what I'm doing.I guess I'm treating it as more of a game boy successor than a new console.

The games look so much better on the tablet than via the dock too.

Was reverse for me, had to attach them to do the initial setup.

That's weird but I guess its kinda smart they want you to know it all fits together.

Eta- only picked up one game for this launch. For wii u, I picked up two but am having way more fun with switch. I hope there's some mii functionality at some point. It's dumb but fun.
