Eh, don't think I'll be taking the game seriously but thanks. It can be fun in small doses, but I don't think it's something I can get competitive in. I'm new, but I can already tell this game relies more on matchup knowledge and gimmicks than anything I'd consider a traditional fighting game. The combo/breaker mechanic is interesting, but a bit too out there for me.

the combo breaker game is what mitigates the guesswork actually

it's what makes it a fair-ish game, instead of "he did that thing again and I took 40% and died"
 
They should let people download other players' AI setups so they can practice against certain things. Like, yeah the Rog thing is great, but if you can't do it yourself, how are you gonna practice it?

I can't seem to get even decent with Kolin. She is a lot of work. Sigh. Meanwhile a cowgirl Karin mod dropped that makes me want to go back to her.

Imagine SFV's training mode could actually display how plus or negative you are after trying a specific setup? So much more data could be exposed with this mode, it's so disappointing that it isn't there.

Thats why I use Hitbox viewer. So much more data on how plus your meaties are , or hitting moves at max range.

I jumped back into S2 to use her and she's a ton of fun, but god damn every match feels like a struggle. After a few losses I get frustrated and go back to Vega.

I don't feel like she's lacking anything though. She'll probably get a lot more playtime over time once people start using all the mix ups, setups, and all the proper punishes I've seen in videos.
 
I just discovered my L1 button (LP+MP+HP) on my stick won't let me V-Reversal. I don't know how this is possible. Inputs shows up fine in training and I can EX off it, but V-Reversal won't work. I have to V-Reversal with L2 (LK+MK+HK) to get the job done.

Dumb question, but are you sure your character has a punch V-reversal? Not all characters do.

Well I'm playing as Mika in training and I don't know what I'm doing with her. If she doesn't have a punch V-Reversal, boy is my face red.

I need to go back to training mode and figure out more stuff with Kolin. First time playing her so its really one dimensional right now.

I thought they weaken jab anti airs? Im still getting hit by those constantly.

Nah, they *said* they'd weaken AA jabs but they kept most in. Hell, the new characters in S2 have some of the best ones.

GGs JTC. Kolin looks like fun. I think her v-skill works on attacks and projectiles, so don;t let a shoto barrage you with fireballs.

It doesn't work on projectiles sadly, and I think she has a lot of trouble with projectile characters.

What are you jumping in with? Because jHK and jHP have terrible hitboxes.

Godammit Capcom. The worst part of it is that you're at the mercy of a free mixup once you get hit by it.

Ive tried jHK, jHP, jLK, and jMK.

Her command dash ice dagger goes through projectiles, and her hail projectile nullifies other projectiles if they touch her hand as she does the motion. It would be far too much if her V-Skill also dealt with projectiles.

dunno what's the obsession with burning hours and hours practicing the perfect combo timing. I'd rather have combos depend more and more on the opponent character size, weight and position so combos are more difficult to do but at the same time, something you cannot just practice mindlessly, but that you have to pull off on the moment

Wut.

What you describe actually means you have to practice combos way more, not less.

I can understand Momochi intent, but it doesn't work like that.

Many people will never have the will to train several hours to be good at a competitive level, especially when it's 1V1 with no excuse upon losing. It's just the way of life.

What you CAN do is putting enough casual content besides the versus modes to make your game as popular as possible and then you can hope to have a tiny percent with that competitive spirit and have fresh blood in your tournament scene.

If you don't have the ressource to do that, you'd better make it Free to Play. Or be happy to stay niche forever and thrive on this small base willing to pay for it.
