I was gonna add from software wasn't sure if it was ready to show tho I suppose it should be tho right?SP is 100 percent and a From Software exclusive is a safe bet. I could easily see DMC5 as well so that would make three. Most of that stuff listed is probably not realistic for any year though.

Hope they show the vr game too! From should definitely have new a game ready to reveal whether it is exclusive or not. They work fast and have multiple teams.
im still pissed of how sony handled playstation all-stars.
what a waste of potential
Problem #1 was using it as a marketing tool for other games as opposed to featuring actual Playstation All-Star. Big Daddy never has and never will be viewed as that. But it was nice marketing for Bioshock Infinite.
I think I'd take a yearly Assassin's Creed over 90% of other things. Something about the franchise just pulls all the right strings for me.
I still like the core ideas behind AC, but if this new soft reboot is not significantly revamped and improved from the last two then I want nothing to do with it. It needed to be shelved. Combat suck, exploration was a joke and the story was going nowhere.
The upcoming rumoured Assassin Creed set in Egypt is the only AC game I'm hyped for it'll be a day one buy and the closest to a Prince of Persia game I'll get, the rest of AC games i don't care for, it's also nice they're not rushing this one like the previous two they took a 2 year gap so far for this one and not yearly like the othersI want Ubisoft's teams/talent to be able to create something new that's not tied to a old tired franchise. Especially since shitty movie is now attached to it.

For me, that's actually a bit disappointing. What set The Last of Us apart was its quiet moments. Hell, Left Behind was so good precisely because it recognized that the story it wanted to tell didn't require much violence, was okay with that, and filled the space with a quiet and effective story. I wish they had gone even further in that direction. Violence certainly had a place in The Last of Us, but it was a unique and interesting game in part because it frequently treated violence as incidentalrather than fundamentalto its storytelling.

Had PSASBR had an actual All-Star roster it still would have had plenty of issues. (Four versions of 'to have' combo!!!)
For a sequel, step one would be to make a competent, fun to play fighter - whether that's evolving the current formula or scrapping it for something new or more like Smash. Step two is to secure at the very least Crash and Spyro.
The Crash remakes give me hope the step 2 can now be accomplished. Step one will still have to be proven. And that's coming from someone who took the time to platinum the original.
Totally. I'm with you in thinking that the team working on it will deliver another excellent game. I just think I'll have some of the same criticisms that I did with the first game. But again, I think it's great.Well, when it comes to storytelling, i've full confidence in ND. I'm sure there will be a lot of quite, emotional moments. Isnt Ellie playing the guitar in that teaser indicates this?(off course after all the violence part)
I'm not even sure I'd call that problem #1 of the character problem subset of problems, more like #2. #1 was not securing appearances by key Playstation legacy characters like Crash, Lara, Cloud, Sephiroth, Sora, etc.
But yes, Big Daddy and Nu-Dante (instead of real Dante) were egregious marketing inclusions. Raiden was more of a grey area because although it was his Revengeance appearance as default, and he isn't Snake, he was a major character in MGS2 and MGS4, 2 of the most significant games in Playstation history. No problems with Heihachi, in fact of all the characters from all the fighting franchises that have ever appeared on Sony's hardware, he'd probably be my top pick for representation.
I agree, but it wouldn't have been made otherwise. Taking inspiration from something is one thing, but trying to replicate a Nintendo game like Smash is another.
Fun game, but I'm surprised it got that far.
Since psasbr is viewed as a failure I imagine it's going to be even harder now for Sony to convince 3rd party developers to lend their characters, especially the beloved ones like Snake, Dante, Tomb Raider etc. Nintendo has clout so devs fall over themselves to have their character represented. Sony has a hell of a lot more to prove now, and if they are just going to cheapen out again there's little point for a do over. Go big this time or go home.
I mean, I can understand why they couldn't get Sora as Disney may be a bit hesitant to allow him into it. But what happened with some of the others was ridiculous. A character reboot Dante should've been a skin for the original take on the character, if there was a version of him in it at all. But that gets into the marketing aspect that I talked about. Capcom was pushing the reboot so instead of getting the character that people associate with the brand, we instead got a completely different character with the same name.
Then to be blunt, it shouldn't have been made. If they couldn't secure actual iconic PS characters, then they never should've greenlighted the project.
If there ever is a new PSASBR-style game, then Sony's first should be to go out and make sure they can secure the proper characters. If they can't, then should just kill the project before any serious resources have been dumped into it. And I know that when PSASBR was announced there were some mocking the idea of iconic PS characters. But the reality is that a lot of gamers grew up in that era. They're nostalgic for characters created then rather than the Mario's, Zelda's, and Simon Belmont's of the world. So, there is a market there if it's done right.
If they were to make one today, the lineup for the first game shouldn't be difficult
First Party:
Kat
Aloy
Drake
Parappa
Spike
Sweet Tooth
Toro
Dart
Ratchet & Clank
Jak & Daxter
Sly
Robbit
Ellie or Joel
Atoi/Iota
Third Party:
Alucard
Jill Valentine
Solid Snake
Raziel
Lenneth
Cloud
Crash
Spyro
Kazuya
Reiko Nagase
Lara
Dante
Kiryu
Chie
At least for the first game/reboot, something like that would be great. Obviously some big names from first and third party games are missing, but you need to reserve some from sequels. But those are all PS All-Star characters on some level. Characters that people absolutely associate with those consoles.
As far as gameplay goes, i've said it before, but a PS fighting game should be 3D. It makes sense for Smash to be 2D as most of the characters in those games originated in a 2D world. But most of the famous PS characters originated in a 3D world. So, something like Power Stone would be absolutely perfect for that type of game. It would allow for most of the characters to be what you'd expect them to be as we're used to seeing them navigate 3D worlds as opposed to running left and right.
If you're expecting an Assassin's Creed game that takes a lot of cues from Wild Hunt, I don't think you're going to be satisfied. Those two games are just incredibly different. Taking a year off will almost certainly result in a better and more clearly differentiated game, but I'm not expecting the sort of transformation that you're suggesting.
The game is going for a Witcher feel, with player progression, freeform combat system.
nah i think there could be def. more (bloodborne 2/FS new IP, DMC5, Japan Studio)
If they're going to take the sting out of anything Microsoft have to show then they need to continue doing what they're doing. Drop bombs and boss it. But they know they need to keep up going a year or two from now which is why they'll continue to show on going projects.
WiLD hasn't had an E3 showing yet.

Give me Claire, Kat, and Aloy and we're good to go.

Most importantly, it frigging needs a cohesive art style. Can't stress how bad the different art style combinations looked in psasbr. It can be a story point, all characters taken from their respective world and put in a parallel universe where they all appear cohesive.
I would also like a Final Fantasy protagonist, but wouldn't pick Cloud due to his association with Smash now. I would be pretty happy with any of the following:
Tifa, Vincent, Tidus, Yuna, Squall, Steiner, Vivi, Lightning, or maybe even one of the pretty boys from FFXV (have not played it).
They are going to announce more than one new big exclusive. When has output ever been that low?
Hmm that's a solid roster, much better than whatever Sony was thinking of at the time. Felt more like a game to market unrelated characters from new games than a game to celebrate iconic Sony associated characters. If there ever is a new PSASBR-style game, then Sony's first should be to go out and make sure they can secure the proper characters. I remember a few years back someone hinted that another playstation mascot brawler would happen.
PS All-Stars/ Playstation Racing or whatever is the perfect game for PSX, if a new PS Mascot game is happening, which i really really hope, it should be revealed at PSX.
