Public Policy Poll finds country in favor of impeachment 48-41, would elect The Rock

Interesting how everyone focuses on the 5-point lead The Rock gets while ignoring that Bernie Sanders, Joe Biden, Elizabeth Warren, Al Franken and Cory Booker all lead Trump by far more significant margins.

They really need to divide all these from being averages into Republicans and Democrats feelings only. None of the questions about impeachment matter for instance if its only Democrats and independents who favor it. Saying its 48 - 41 is misleading if the 41% is every Republican in the country. 48% as an average gives the impressions some Republicans are in favor of it, which seems pretty unlikely.
They do, on pg 32 of the pdf.

75% of Democrats, 17% of Republicans and 44% of independents support impeaching Trump.

Fuck Rock

Especially after he protected his friend, CEO of Under Armor, when he came out as a huge Trump supporter earlier this year.

Only 43% of voters think Trump is actually going to end up serving his full term as President, while 45% think he won't, and 12% aren't sure one way or the other.
This part is really hilarious. I can't think of any time in modern history where 67% of voters weren't sure if the president is going to make it through their term. Not too mention we're only 4 months into this.

As for the Rock, please no more celebrities I don't mind it if they have earned sufficient credentials or experience in politics but I don't think believe the Rock has. Also most of the Rock's movies are not that great.

How about you actually elect a politician for the job next time, America?
It's time to end this cult of personality madness which has destroyed your presidential legacy.

Cult of personality was always around and will never go away. The much bigger issue is the divide between the basically only two options. Obama tried to fix it and the Republican answer was nothing but racism and hate.

for a regular citizen, that's fine

but not for political candidate who as an adult who adhered to a certain ideolgy at age 20 something then 20 years later decide to run for office on a different banner . It's what is inside the hear that matters.

and what is inside his heart economically? He is still most likely still Conervative on social programs on fiscal issues and would fall into line signing Cogress' shitty laws.

I like the Rock, don't get me wrong but he never ever spoke out on any important issues ever, and when pressed, he just uses platitudes.

Heck, John Cena went more vocal voicing his stance on social issues than the Rock ever did. We know where Jonn Cena lies on Progressive issues... the Rock never said anything but slogans.

I continue to enjoy watching his movies but I don't give a shit about his political aspirations because he never ever adressed any sentisitve issue on current events ever but just platitudes and slogans

I am in the same boat as you. I am just saying people's opinions change over time especially after 20 years.

Shouldn't be giving that thought the time of day. Just because Trump is so far under the bar doesn't mean we should lower the bar to match.

If Dwayne wants to get involved in politics, he can start with school board, state assembly, and house of representative positions.

Well, obviously.

How did he protect him? All I'm finding are articles talking about him criticizing the CEO.

I'm surprised Biden has the biggest lead out of all of them. Wonder how much he regrets not running

If the race were between The Rock and Trump. I'd pick The Rock. If the race were between a rock and Trump, I'd pick a rock. Trump wouldn't gain any voters in theoretical election.

I imagine a very significant portion of people voted for Trump off of "He's that guy I know off the TV!" The Rock would probably gain some of Trump's voters.

They should just hire the Rock to do things like the state of the union address and let people well versed in politics run the government.

If Trump can do it, The Rock can DEFINITELY do it.

That being said, I want a real political figure in the whitehouse...

I would vote for The Rock as long as he was portraying the character the entire time. Stay kayfabe and the job is yours.

Which Rock though? The Corporate Champion or the People's Champion? Or Hell, what if he was Hollywood Rock??

These could all have very different impacts to the country!

I agree,
but I question the authencity of what they belive in especially when they have said nothing of value throughout their adult life

I get that. He did do that HBO boot camp documentary not sure how good it is or if it even aired yet. Other then that I can't tell you what he thinks on some matters.

Probably because he was a competent VP, linked to a competent president and has universal recognition. Voters say in this poll they'd rather have Obama than Trump by a 16-point margin, that matches Biden's numbers fairly closely.

I think any politician being dragged down into the D vs. R rough-and-tumble would see their numbers go down eventually, though. Hillary posted huge leads over GOP opponents until she actually declared her candidacy, politicians always poll better as hypotheticals. Even if Obama magically was able to run for a third term you'd probably see the same thing happen.

You raise good points. In response, I will rescind my endorsement and instead vote to live in the United States of Jericho.

Good to know 25% of democrats, 83% of Republicans and 56% of Independents are officially idiots.

It's a shame PPP feels the need to feed the clickbait trolls because I never know how seriously to take their polls.

I can see taking the Rock over Trump, hopefully it doesn't come to that and the country gets serious about who leads it.

How big a gap does the generic ballot has to grow to for the 2018 mid-terms to be considered a "wave" election?

If these numbers actually translate to turnout, it may already be there. But it has to actually translate to voting turnout. Regardless, thes numbers this early in is looking optimistic for Dems right now

Eh, that's probably my fault for putting it in the headline. To be fair, I put it in more because I found it amusing than that I thought he was a serious candidate; as you say, the other democratic figures poll even better.

The enthusiasm gap is pretty strong in this poll, too (asking people of each party how excited they are to vote in the 2018 midterms).

Is that the biggest percent for impeachment ever recorded?

Which makes sense, the delusional Trump supporters may still support him, but it's tough for that delusion to translate to motivation with everything happening.
