Holy crap. His voice was probably the voice of the grunge era, even more so than Eddie Vedder. Just so distinctive and powerful

Just heard the news... fuck me, this was out of left field. Soundgarden, Temple of the Dog - the whole "grunge" thing was my jam back then and he was a massive part of it. Luckily I got to see him play with Audioslave. That voice. That fuckin' voice.

Thanks for the music and the memories, man. RIP.

Damn, I had just created a playlist with some of my music from the 90s and a lot was him and his bands.

Maybe it was an asphyxiation accident.

Temple of the Dog was one of the bands that got me into rock and roll. Cornell's lyricism moved me in ways very few others do.

May he Rest in Peace.

Is currently staging a hunger strike outside Gearbox HQ while trying to hate them to death
I seen him do an acoustic version of Like a Stone in Houston in 2007, it was mesmerising. His voice is even better live. Of all the deaths we have had recently, this one hurts the most for me. I'm going to see Eddie Vedder in a couple of weeks, if he plays Hunger Strike, I'll be in bits.

I'm devastated. I wasn't expecting that. NOBODY was expecting that...

Chris Cornell is my favorite singer of all time. He inspired me in so many ways. I love to sing his songs. Hell, Soundgarden is my favorite band.

I'm crying here. Shit. Why did this happen?! I can't believe...

R.I.P., Mr. Chris Cornell. You were one of the greatest. No. You are one of the greatest. Maybe the greatest. A legend.

I saw Soundgarden a few weeks ago. Crazy seeing this today. Guess I will listen to Spoonman now.

Other than Robert Smith, Cornell might have been my favorite male vocalist. I know we all have our demons but dude just seemed like a pleasant guy at least on Twitter.

My buddy was at the show last night. He can't believe it.

I saw temple of the dog in philly this past November. It was fantastic. Sad, sad day.

He is my favorite vocalist. King Animal is one of my favorite Soundgarden albums. He still got it! Sucks we don't get to hear more. RIP

The news just hit my feed, damn. I loved Chris and he will be missed. RIP.

When I was 14, I walked into a PacSun store and the Badmotorfinger album was playing. I stayed there and listened to almost the whole album, all the while asking the worker who had put it on about the band. He said the album had just dropped that day so he put it on the store sound system. I immediately left the store when it was done playing, ran to the music store(probably Sam Goody at the time) and bought a copy for myself.

I have listened to that album so many times, and I will be listening to it tonight trying not to cry.
