Way I was taught, 2 things go on a hotdog or any sausage in a bun configuration.

Ketchup is great on pretty much everything that doesn't already come with a sauce e.g. curry/pasta.

Fried fish, steak, hot dogs, burgers, chicken, sometimes even like a little on Mac and cheese or potato chips. (Hot dog with ketchup and then Mac and cheese on top is great too)

Don't like it on things that are already quite sweet, like corn. It goes best on salty/savory stuff.
