They need tp hire someone to make a Pokemon game that doesn't suffer from the framerate drops during battles.
Because the 3DS didn't even run Sun and Moon well in a lot of spots. Plus, lets be honest, these games need a visual upgrade. Why would anyone want the next game to be on 8 year old hardware unless they aren't planning to own a Switch?
It should be pretty clear why people want them to move on. Nintendo put out a new system that Pokemon would look a lot better on.
It doesn't necessarily contradict it, as those people with Wii U and Vita experience could be getting hired for the theoretical 2019 first pair of generation 8 (Switch) games. And they could just be hiring this one programmer now to work on a 3DS version of Stars for this year (I don't think it's absolutely impossible for them to hire an additional programmer in June to work on Stars' 3DS version if it launches in November, and then have them work on the patches/updates for that).Wasn't there a thread not long ago about Game Freak hiring HD developers to work on "one of the world's most famous franchises" or something?
Wouldn't that contradict the assumption in the thread title?
EDIT: This thread- http://www.neogaf.com/forum/showthread.php?t=1353857
I was close I guess.
3DS and Switch aren't wirelessly compatible with each other, so next mainline Pokémon game won't be cross platform.
snip.

Possibly but a lot of programmers work on these games so it doesn't seem impossible they could replace one who has to leave the project for some reason or add an additional one.I guess it doesn't contradict it, but you'd think a job listing from several months ago would be for a project coming before a later job listing. Especially if we expect a title to be releasing in ~5 months... I don't know how common it is to hire a new programmer less than 5 months before launch.
But really I read the thread title as assuming the next Pokemon installment (not Stars, but whatever new gen game comes) will be on 3DS, and if you're just referring to the one likely happening this year then yeah, what you're suggesting makes sense. I definitely wouldn't be surprised to see it be 3DS/Switch cross platform, or even new 3DS/Switch.
I just would hate to see the backlash if it's just 3DS/new 3DS and no Switch.
Nah.Game Freak works on games that aren't Pokemon.
Yeap, but overall answer should be a cross-gen release. So 3DS version for that customer base and Switch version for those who left 3DS in the dustbin.Of course it will be on 3DS. They have an immense market in kids. The Switch is too expensive for kids, so, it's either a pokemon for mobile or 3DS.

Give us Breath of the Wild style Pokemon Red please
Diamond/Pearl remakes.
This seems kinda late to be staffing up?
Even for the 3ds hiring for a project now probably means whatever this isn't something scheduled for 2017?
Idk just feels really late. Like I get that the 3ds is still gonna get some games, but you'd think a lot of those titles would already be in production.
It is late. There will be no Pokemon Stars (there was not a Pokemon Z). Gamefreak is starting development on Gen 8 and release on 3DS.

I'm building a Masuda shrine in my room if GF releases the next Pokémon game on 3D5.
The less $400 systems I have to buy the better.
The majority doesn't care about visuals on Pokémon.
A complete waste of money and time for something that makes absoluty no difference to most people.
Who cares about most people? I'm telling you and the person I quoted why people that don't want the next Pokemon game on 3DS don't want the next Pokemon game on 3DS. It shouldn't be that hard to figure out. It's ugly and it runs poorly in places.I'm building a Masuda shrine in my room if GF releases the next Pokémon game on 3D5.

Isn't GF less than 100 employees? Not exactly what I'd call massive.Jesus. A single opening for a massive company like GF? I would hate to work for their HR dept.
Your eyes aren't worth 300 dollars? I can't look at 3DS games anymore.
Oh you poor thing. Your eyes have become too refined for 3DS games. That's a shame.
I regularly go back to old handhelds. Love me some Game Boy Micro.
Well, Laura Kate Dale said very early this year that she expects Pokémon Stars at E3. It's clear she has some connections to industry people, so we could very well see the game at E3, unless it's gotten delayed.Interesting. The possibility of a 2017 Pokemon game is slowly diminishing though, if they want it out by the end of this year the marketing cycle should be starting any day now.
People really need to stop bringing this up. The Pokemon models were in HD since X & Y as way of future proofing. It literally means nothing that S/M had HD models when X/Y has HD models too.The Sun/Moon models are already prepared for HD.
I swear to god if Game Freak does not support another Nintendo console.
The graphics on most Game Boy Advance games are great compared to X/Y or Sun/Moon though. If not only for the reason that a lot of them are pixel based, and that art style holds up a lot better than 3D models.Oh you poor thing. Your eyes have become too refined for 3DS games. That's a shame.
