I just got back from the vigil happening at Hollywood Transit Center tonight. I go by there multiple times a week, and it's so scary to know this happened there. Portland has a long history of acute racism, with active white supremacist organizing from day one, but fuck this is still shocking and terrifying. I'm so proud of the people who intervened, and I hope it helps other white dudes question their assumptions and complacency.

I heard about this the other day and it's just awful.

I won't stop looking out for my fellow man, but it should go without saying to be careful when choosing to confront someone. These men were heroes, and it breaks my heart that the world lost two good ones. We need more men and women like them. My heart goes out to their families. What a fucking tragedy.

It just makes me so sad and angry when I think about this story.

Why?

It's never a good idea to confront unstable or angry people. Avoid conflict.

However, in this situation, the bystanders were protecting the victims. I applaud them for that. If they had ignored the guy, he might have assaulted the victims further. But what happened is horrible.

This man should be charged with some kind of terrorism charge. He wasn't just being a murderer, he was violently attacking innocent people because of bigoted ideology.

The act of those two heroes will not be forgotten. We should all stand up to people that incite hate and publicly attack innocent people.

The most energy I spent was laughing when I saw Cernovich's name. I didn't say you were right or wrong dude. What I'm saying is that if you want people to look at information, maybe don't quote a bigoted conspiracy theorist. If he was a Bernie supporter I'm not gonna take Mike Cernovich's word for it, especially when he's claiming that this was a false flag operation in the same damn tweet.

And even if Trump supporters did report him, it doesn't somehow absolve them from voting for a person that pandered to these people​ and created an environment where Nazis can thrive.

If you're gonna try to post credible information, don't come at me with the Pizzagate guy is all I'm saying.
