Loooooooooooooooooved the concept but just can't get used to the controls. Wish there is a better option besides the janky keyboard/mouse setup they have.

It's cool, tank controls have been pretty rare these days so for most people it's learning an entirely new scheme. I can tell you right now it's a solid control scheme, just takes time to adapt-- up to you whether it's worth it. But remember the first time you played an FPS? Learning mouselook / twinstick FPS took FOREVER the first time around, but no one calls those control schemes janky. Just takes time. In testing we've found it takes ~1 hour for people to start getting comfortable.

A lot of indie devs seem to be big fans of the movie "Field of Dreams". "If you build it, they will come" is a stupid fantasy that people need to let go of.

If you don't market your game, you won't sell your game, it's that simple. PS: Shotgunning out thousands of review keys to random youtubers is not enough.

This is such complete nonsense, it's literally a reskin of 'lazy devs' and equally as silly.

I'm not normally this harsh but just because a game doesn't show up all across PC Gamer/Polygon/IGN doesn't mean developers didn't market it.

Brigador is fucking awesome and I hope everyone else enjoys it as much as I do.

I honestly don't think 10k is a lot of advertising money in today's marketplace. Yes, it is a lot for tiny DIY people, but as compared to the competition...

Doesn't change the fact that quality always sells, niches are called so for a reason, and Steam users love to purchase anything at 50% off.

Enjoying the game more since I started holding down the E key for the temp mouselook. Really fun little game to churn out a mission or two here or there.

Has anyone finished the campaign? How long is it? I'm only 5-6 missions in.

Picked this up on sale last night, absolutely loving the aesthetic but the controls are sooo tough to get used to.

Sometimes I feel like I have a handle on it, then when things get hectic suddenly I'm randomly spinning around with no idea which direction I'm facing.

I can definitely see the gameplay being really satisfying though if the controls ever click.

So I'm listening to the Giant Bomb Goty and they are on best music. Brigador getting recognition here. Anyhow I went to go look at the game page on steam and it looks like it's been getting some good support and updates. Anyone tried the new control scheme yet? I'm going to jump back into this and try it out a bit later.

I also heard about this one from the Giant Bomb GOTY stuff, it looks awesome but I'm a console gamer. I presume this won't be coming to PS4 at all based on the issues they have had?

Would a port be possible anyway with the mouse/keyboard set up?

We looked into porting but the original programmers are no longer with the team (amicable parting, they left for solid gigs in AAA and California sunshine) so the only option is to hire a porting house. Normally that would be fine but a wrinkle to writing your own engine is that it suddenly becomes much more expensive to port if you can't do it yourself. Between our current number of sales, the fact that controllers aren't the ideal control interface, and that porting would cost us 1.5x-2x the normal rate it's just not something I can justify investing in. And we'd go for a rev-share model to diffuse risk except that the same combination of low sales and increased cost because of the engine means that porting houses are only willing to operate on a cash basis. Whaddaya gonna do.

We added twin-stick style controls as well as game speed slider-- you can drop it down to 50% if you want. The idea came from talking with AbleGamers at a convention, since there are many who'd enjoy playing games that require fast reaction times but are physically incapable of doing so. For them we built the time scalar, but it turns out that's also a really good way to modulate difficulty. We've had a lot of people on our forums who've had trouble learning the game drop speed down around 60-70% to make the game really click, then they slowly increase the speed back up as they get more comfortable with it.

For anyone playing on a controller we recommend 80% speed as a default, and if you're having trouble with the game at all it's also a nice way to ease into things. Hope that helps.

Also, here's a guide I'm slowly working on for cheat codes and editing game data. If you just want to roll godmode and blow shit up, here's your guide: http://imgur.com/a/ElgMV

That's a really cool solution. Nicely done!

Got the game gifted to me during the sale by a friend.

LOVE this game. One of those games I've always wanted in my head but never had. Until now, of course. Just so incredibly satisfying to play. Can see myself messing around with this for a good, long while.

On the other hand, I kind of suck at it. I'm midway through the campaign and trying to get through these missions with light vehicles is proving more than I can handle. Even the tried-and-true tactic of hit-and-run requires quite a bit of finesse. I have to admire the skills (and guts) of anyone who can make it work. I want to do it, though. I really want to turn all of those circles into diamonds!

It's criminal that this game isn't being talked about more, frankly. Deserves a whole helluva lot more attention than it has right now. Good stuff.

Put some more time into the game, and I have come to the conclusion that the game really is HARD AS BALLS.

I mean, I'm consistently getting my ass kicked before I can finish a 4-level freelance run at level five difficulty... and the game goes all the way to difficulty thirteen! Of course, a significant part of that is my unwillingness to try not killing everything in sight and my tendency to stand my ground in bad situations, but still... I haven't failed this many times in a row in any game I've played in recent memory.

Nonetheless, I do sometimes manage to make it to the end. And I have managed some pretty decent payouts. Still, my track record so far is... not impressive. I clearly need to work on my skills.

This is the best I've managed so far:

Hopefully it won't take me too long to best it. This was only on a 4-level freelance run, too! I can hardly imagine doing a full linear Solo Nobre run. Goodness me.

I did play the game again after the new year and I did try out the twin stick controls and the the speed slider. I was very excited to see that and I did knock it down to 80% and it was very, very good. The game is so snappy that reducing the speed doesn't introduce sluggishness in a noticeable way.

The control pad config is nice, too. A good translation of a a keyboard and mouse game to control pad.

Is is a spacer thing that their tanks slowdown instead of boost?

Not exclusively, though I'm currently re-evaluating that ability entirely, may just switch all tanks over to a more conventional boost rather than the downshift ram.

And I'm glad you guys have been enjoying the game, we've got another update in the pipe for this weekend, plus plenty more over the next few months.

Cool beans. Yeah, the downshift, while useful, tends to seem rather counter-productive when it's used on the larger tanks which are already incredibly good at ramming through things, and their main issue is getting around in the first place. I certainly wouldn't complain about getting the regular boost instead.

I noticed there are a lot of unused lighting profiles in the game's files. I assume there are plans to introduce these and you guys haven't gotten around to it yet? Seems like a waste to put in that work and then have the game always default to the same one in freelance missions.

Speaking of lighting, I am enjoying messing around with the editor for that. Here's a really subdued night time profile I made:

All the story missions have custom lighting setups, while for Freelance we'd intended to have particular progressions for each but... well they don't currently, but that'll be coming later.

New Campaign

New vehicles

New graphics and effects

http://steamcommunity.com/games/274500/announcements/detail/1252410330038923310

It's also 30% off - http://store.steampowered.com/app/274500/Brigador_UpArmored_Edition/

This is one of the best indie games ever made imo. Maybe the best soundtrack as well.

I sort of feel like this news deserves a new thread, this game is slept on like a motherfucker.

It's also in this month's humble monthly bundle, so a bunch of new players are jumping in.

Been diving into this again thanks to the update, and it's even better than I remember. I recall having a hard time with the controls before, but maybe I just acclimated better now.

I just got this from the humble bundle.

MAN is this fun. Destructible terrain, stomping on little humans, really great-feeling weapons. This is a great game for any mech or military vehicle fan. Nice music, too!

Splattering humans with your guns makes you feel really really powerful in this

I've been playing it off and on for a while. I haven't booted it up recently, but if they've added anything since I've last played I should give it a shot.

Some of the missions are damn hard. But the game is a lot of fun.

Had meant to play this at launch but never ended up finding the time but with the relaunch...YEAH this feels pretty rad.

Once I edited in deadzone to my controller in the JSON file, that is. Excellent vibe and music.

digging this a loooot - kinda reminds me of the 1984 terminator future war scenes in terms of ray gun despair with driving synths
