Watching The Book of Henry feels like being gaslit. You want to yell at the screen “This is absurd! Henry’s recorded instructions for Susan predict when she’ll turn the wrong way down the street! Is there going to be any acknowledgement of how insane this is?!” while the movie calmly insists that this is all perfectly natural. That kind of rubbernecking-a-car-crash feeling is the only possible reason to recommend the film, if you’re into that, for whatever reason. Going forward, Colin Trevorrow hopefully won’t be put in charge of anything too impor- oh Jesus, that’s right.

Maybe the title's hyperbolic, but Mike Sampson's a former critic, and I think now he's got a high position with Alamo Drafthouse in New York, and seems like he has a good head on his shoulders. This movie sounds wilder than Collateral Beauty, and possibly worse than the F4 movie that got Trank removed.

Twitter is too over the top from time to time. The Book of Henry is more than those few people are able to see.
I never doubted Colin. And he never disappointed me.

The Book of Henry combines art with a vision.

See it for yourself in the cinema.

He's making Episode 9.

Yeah, after a certain scene in JW, the idea of 'I have no idea what tone is' is hardly surprising. However, I've seen that in so many 2016 movies that I have to wonder if studios aren't seriously understaffed on good editors.

Will need to see the movie to make a serious judgment though.

Its probably not that bad as some are saying, but Jurassic World is not good at all and Safety Not Guaranteed was good but nothing amazing. I hope he does get removed from Star Wars simply because he's a bland director and brings absolutely nothing to the table.

That's... not very encouraging. Though I gotta say, these are very sensationalist. Lots of Star Wars mentions and exaggerated language on how horrifically bad this is ensures site traffic.

Dude got removed because he was high off his head on set, trashing the apartment he was renting, not showing up to work and then pissing off the studio after reviews came in by disowning the movie. Different situation here.

I called this years ago. Dude has no idea what he is doing. Safety was an ok (but not great) mumblecore comedy. JW was a executive-controlled popcorn muncher. I have no idea why Hollywood decided to give this man the reings to two of the biggest franchises ever after one mediocre indie movie.

The Lucasfilm Story Group is there to keep things in the universe consistent, and to give suggestions based on their knowledge of Star Wars. I don't think they hold much power.

Yeah, which is why it's a problem cause it reinforces public misunderstanding of a disorder trumpeted as a metaphor. It's an outdated myth thinking schizophrenia is about split personality. People are usually meaning either bipolar or dissociative identity disorder.

I've said it all along. I don't think he'll be given enough control to fuck things up. At worst Episode IX will be "passable". Disney won't let him make it terrible.

If this blows up enough I'm sure they'll take him off the film. Disney does not want a shitty Marvel or Star Wars movie getting crapped on via RT.


But Jurassic World did still make $1.6 bil...

It sounds like he filmed a shitty script. It happens. Although being a writer himself, he should've known better.
