Two cannibals are eating a clown. One turns to the other and says "does something taste funny to you?"
5-0 with jeskai in the modern gp thus far. Deck feels good.

I didn't buy into the stupid shipping stuff at all, but I was, uh, pretty taken aback at some of their friendlier moments offstage. Maybe I'm just not around people wgo physically show affection that much to friends.
What I heard is that it actually is true. Which made me feel bad for shipping them since, well, you know.

It's not a GP until you've had a picture taken next to a cardboard cutout of Jace. Throwing a shaka is not optional.

All of these Invocations are feel bad opens. Even Damnation isn't worth much since MM2.

Finished the day 7-2. Fairly disappointed after the the 5-0 start, but I'll still play day2 instead of the ptq.

That puts you in the 96th percentile though. You are practically shitting out Four-Leaf clovers.

oh, that's a rare. Might have been interesting for one less mana

well actually, that would totally break it in combination with pump spells. Card is in an akward spot, t3 it isn't relevant anymore and t2 you could make the opponent discard their entire hand

Oh, bitch bitch bitch.
Why do all the god invocations look so boring. It's like the art director made sure they weren't doing anything interesting.

I actually really like the Scorpion God invocation art, but not as Invocation art. It's kind of... menacing, in a Shadow of the Colossus sort of way. A glimpse at this terrifying monstrosity wandering a ruined landscape from a distance, hoping it doesn't notice you... very evocative.

But yeah it should be more action-y.

Scorpion God invocation art needs some smaller things in their for scale purposes, like some birds or zombies. As it stands, it's just the god itself and these massive structures that dwarf it, so it looks pretty small by comparison.

The art would sell it being this menacing giant monster more if their were just a handful of dudes running around on the ground to show how big it is.

Went to play some draft Friday night but didn't have enough people show. LGS was pretty cool and handed out some random promos for us sticking around and playing. Ended up getting Archfiend of Ifnir from the buy a box promo. Got to borrow someone's Kithkin Commander deck and play that format for the first time. Ended the night with power going out though and just now got it back.

While trying to stay busy with no power we stopped by Target and checked out their stuff. They had those random decks in a box things there and ended up getting the Nahiri and Freyalise 2014 commander decks + some older pre-con decks thrown in for 30$ each. Gonna play with my wife tonight with those two.

Went 2-1-1 today playing Temur Emerge. The deck is fine, but it lacks the inevitability the old version offered with Emrakul. It's hard to play and slow and exhausting aaaaaand I'm probably not gonna play it anymore. Switching over to Temur Energy, which is not nearly as fancy, but still fun and consistent. I'm curious about the BG matchup though, it seems rough.

So now it's artifacts that get worse the more you use them. Shit, I'll take that over garbage like Pyramid of the Pantheons that actively does nothing for three turns. The only brick counter card I've ever used is Edifice of Authority, and that's only because building up counters fits with the grindy nature of the card.

Make one of them aggressive as all hell and I'll be tempted to try it out.

Ha, now that everything is getting wrecked you remove the brick counters.

I like how this reflects how looters plied off the casing limestone and precious metals on the surface of pyramids.
EDIT: In fact, isn't this really damn good compared to Jayemdae Tome, which Wizards considers to be good in Limited?

Brick Counters as a mechanic did not need to exist

My kids got me some Magic product for Father's Day and I opened some Amonkhet packs. I don't typically buy Standard format packs so these were my first. I was really surprised to see the punch-out card with the bricks and the -1/-1 counters.

The bricks I won't use but the -1 counters were pretty neat, I thought.

Finally a good choice for a card! Even if the art is blergh

EDIT: I understand Grixis Death Shadow is the most popular deck in the top tables, but showing it every single round is rather tiring.

Oh, bitch bitch bitch.
Does anyone else feel the color usage and art direction feels particularly uniform in the HOU cards we have seen so far

Brick Counters as a mechanic did not need to exist

It's just charge counters done with local flavor so they can simulate something about the setting. I think it's actually a great mechanic because it's self-explanatory, takes up almost no space, and hits a setting trope. I'm jealous I didn't think of it when I did an Egypt set.
