Is it 'Itsy Bitsy Spider' or 'Incy Wincy Spider'

How do you take your spider?

As a non-native speaker, this blows my mind. Never knew "incy wincy" was real.

It's easy to confuse the two because they can look similar but a biscuit is this lovely light buttery flaky cloud of heaven and a scone is a horrible sad angry rock.

I had to stifle a laugh at work because somehow the choice of words and rhythm of this sentence are perfect to me. Plus for some reason I keep reading "a scone is a horrible sad angry cock", and that's even funnier. Thanks, man.

Sounds nice. But nothing can beat a lovely jam and cream scone.

That's JAM, not jelly.

Jam:

Jelly:

Jam and Jelly that both look like your picture of jam are two entirely different things.

Oh also the original version of the song is the "blooming, bloody spider" so the off-putting pride in a regional difference is weird.

Some silly Americans getting their just desserts in here.

Speaking of dessert... geez I could go for some pudding right now.

It's way better than this shitty cup of cheap custard.

Itsy bitsy.

Incy wincy, fuck this shit.

Its eensy-weensy, meaning tiny, derived from teensy-weensey not incy wincy.

I've heard both variations in Queensland, Australian, I think eensy-weency is the one I've heard most thought, that was as a child in the late eighties to mid 90s.

The Thor 2: Dark World Spider went up the Asgard spout
Down came Ragnarok and washed the Spider out
Up came Valhalla and dried up all the pain
And the Thor 2: Dark World Spider went up spout again

Ahahahahahaha

I'm stoned (the pot kind not the drunk kind you treacherous outsiders) and that is magnificent.

Speaking of though what's the non-USA word for being high? Or is that somehow universal?

Dusk Golem

A 21st Century Rockefeller
The Itsy Bitsy Spider crawled up the water spout
Down came the rain, and washed the spider out
Up came the sun, and dried up all the rain
So the Itsy Bitsy Spider crawled up the spout again

So I just looked into it,

APPARENTLY, the origin is neither Itsy Bitsy or Incy Wincy, it's ACTUALLY...

Blooming. Bloody Spider

No really, here is apparently where the poem sprung from, originally from Camp and Camino in Lower California (1910) known simply as "Spider Song":

Oh, the blooming, bloody spider went up the spider web,
The blooming, bloody rain came down and washed the spider out,
The blooming, bloody sun came out and dried up all the rain,
And the blooming, bloody spider came up the web again.

It originated from America and spread worldwide, and the song changed form. Apparently Itsy Bitsy also predates Incy Wincy.

I demand a picture of a spider wearing a polka dot bikini

Also it is incy wincy - at least for me in England. Maybe that changed slowly as we got exposed to more American versions?

No, it's still Incy Wincy here. They just change stuff for words they already know.

Case closed. Look upon the United States' cultural domination and weep.

Please, other nations, create more and better content and export it!

People said it would be trump,Putin or Brexit that would divide Gaf.

But in the end, the civil war was caused by a fictional spider in a fucking pipe.
