Third mistrial in for police officer that murdered his daughter's black boyfriend

http://www.newson6.com/story/35836756/third-mistrial-declared-in-kepler-case-due-to-hung-jury

A third mistrial was declared Friday evening in the murder trial of former Tulsa Police Officer Shannon Kepler. He was charged with the deadly shooting of his daughter's boyfriend, Jeremey Lake.
Kepler was tried in November 2016 and again in February 2017. Both also ended in hung juries.

Kunzweiler pointed out that the only person that has a different version of events in Kepler. He says not one witness corroborated his story.

He says Kepler was the aggressor because he sought Lake out by going to his aunt's house in the first place.

Assistant DA Kevin Gray continued to push these ideas in the second closing argument, saying all the neighbors who were at the scene immediately after Lake was shot, gave consistent testimonies.

”They get everything right," Gray said. ”Every single little detail."

They all say Lake was unarmed, that Kepler parked his car in the middle of an intersection, and that he had a silver gun with a black handle.

In case you forgot or never heard about the case, parents kick out their daughter (age 18) out of the house for sneaking out one day. They drop her off a homeless shelter. A black guy befriends her and gives her a home. They become significant others. Furious dad goes to seek them out one day and finds them walking on the street. He confronts them and shoots the boyfriend, claiming black boyfriend had a gun and was going to shoot him. No other gun was found at the scene. Multiple eye witnesses, including his own daughter, claim he was the agressor who shot the boyfriend. All their testimonies are consistent. Only the police officer has a different story. 3 mistrials so far.

In the face of an open and shut murder case against a cop, the US justice system apparently just locks up and crashes.

I remember the story. Seems like someone is actually getting a jury of his peers. Of course his peers probably have murderous intent if their daughter dated a black man.

The largest gang in America continues to kill minorities with impunity, all the mouth breathers and racists will let it all slide in order to protect them. Fucking bullshit.

Read about the Tulsa Race Riots of 1921 (a better name for it is the Tulsa Genocide of 1921).

They literally dropped bombs on Black Wall Street. It was the first bombing on US soil. Before Pearl Harbor. You won't read about it in most history textbooks.

Now try to imagine being black in Tulsa and ever feeling like you're going to have any kind of justice in your life.

I really wish in cases like this it would automatically be booted to a state supreme Court for judgement or something. Though depending on the state that could end poorly too.

There is no winning it seems.

Told y'all I'd say this again before the month was out. White juries will NOT convict a white cop for killing a black person. A black person's death does not mean enough for a white cop to be punished. Black lives do not matter in our justice system as it is currently.

The jurors must have heated arguments about whether or not the victim was threateningly dating his daughter therefore threatening his sacred lineage.

Thanks for the cliffs OP, way better to understand than reading the article.

How is it even possible, just some racist in the jury saying no to everything.

Never date girls who's fathers are cops, career military leaders, CIA, FBI, Senators, Judges, and men that picked up very particular skills over their very long lives, skills that can make your life a living nightmare (or a short death).

In the guys defense the whole dumping at a homeless shelter is a sign they don't want anything to do with her. Why the father flew into a rage after that is mind-boggling.

Tulsa, Oklahoma its police force, its citizens, and the history of the city are prime examples of the american justice system being trash. Jury of peers is some straight bs when not once but twice this year have the citizens of that city proved that a lot of them are racist and bigots to their core. First the officer that killed Terrence Crutcher gets acquitted and now they cannot even convict this officer who was off duty who basically allegedly committed per-meditated murder. They would probably still be split on whether or not he is a murder if they had him on video with at least three forms of identification yelling I hate black people and saying I am going to murder him because he is black.

Probably thought he was teaching her a lesson, and when it turned out she actually didn't need him he lost it.

This is really sad. Don't live in Tulsa while black.

It has a history, unfortunately not well know to even a lot of Oklahomans.

There was a ton of white power punk music coming out of there as recently as the 80s and 90s with lyrics about killing blacks. Stumbled across it all when I was getting into the local music scene around 2004. Local DIY record store owner collected it all out of morbid interest and for preservation.

I always think of this when people talk about violent rap music. I wouldn't be surprised if music like this is still made around the US, but I'm just not plugged into whatever that scene is.

Edit: yep racist fucking skinhead bands still alive and kicking
