Final Fantasy XII The Zodiac Age |OT| You Had One Job!

Balthier Machinist/White Mage
Basch Uhlan/Time Mage
Vaan Shikari/Foebreaker

If this ends up working....Well...hell yeah haha. But thing is I want to use the other 3 as my "main" endgame party. I'm just afraid Red Mage won't be a good enough healer for the big bosses. I don't care for optimal builds here. Just to know that my Girl Power team can go through the endgame.

It will work. The healing is indeed a bit of a problem, but that just means your Samurai/Knight will have to stop hitting for a bit to cast Curaja. Your Monk can do the same.

I really want to hear impressions from first-timers. FFXII holds a special place in my heart and I know a ton of people skipped it because PS3 and FFX being "the last good FF".

ULTROS!

People seem to like me because I am polite and I am rarely late. I like to eat ice cream and I really enjoy a nice pair of slacks.
Fast forward is god sent. I'm starting to have a blast with the game.

Plus, FFXII:TZA is now above FFXIII and FFV in my FF rankings, heh.

Lol I'm the same way, I get easily sidetracked in this game and I love every bit of it.

Can't decide where to put her first, lol. I'll start grinding again shorly, lol.

Can't decide, just kill.....

Gotta love 2x speed... :)

Haven't even turned in the rotten tomato quest....

Wracked with indecision about which jobs to pick. Might go with this. Only downsides, I'm not too keen on keeping Balthier on guns. Might swap around Vaan, Ashe, and Penelo's choices too; never used Vaan or Fran much in my vanilla playthroughs, aside from keeping them at equal level to everyone else.

Vaan - Shikari/Red Mage
Balthier - Machinist/White Mage
Fran - Monk/Foebreaker
Basch - Bushi/Uhlan
Ashe - Knight/Time Mage
Penelo - Black Mage/Archer

Can't stop grinding the trials. Almost filled the two boards for Ashe already lol, and I just unlocked the second one.

It's just so easy!!

Can't say if I'm glad or not that the Trials don't give any EXP, cause I'd be 10 levels overleveled too if they did

That's my favorite setup. Vaan can swap with anyone no problem.

Why does this Nidhogg hunt get to attack 5/6 straight times in a row when it's hp is low? The last 5% of this hunt is bullshit with the borderline one shots.

OK, fast forward alone makes this version 10x the game the original was. Played 5 hours of Zodiac Age, reached Bhujerba, and I've had 2x speed toggled like 95% of the time. I didn't exactly enjoy vanilla XII, but how in the fuck did I even tolerate it at normal speed. Zodiac Age is a fuckin' great video game. Watching my AI murder squad roll up on motherfuckers and automatically body them in a flash is so damn satisfying.

I'm not that far into the game right now, but I really like Balthier and Vaan's chemistry. Makes me wonder if people would hate him less if he wasn't advertised as the main character.

Anyway I'm really enjoying the updated class system. I'm thinking these will be my choices.
Vaan: Shikari, Machinist
Balthier: Ulhan, Time mage
Fran: Red Mage, Bushido
Ashe: Black Mage, Knight
Basche: Foebreaker, Archer
Penelo: White Mage, Monk

I hope it sells well, would love a proper sequel TT

This the party I've ran with:

Vaan: Shikari, Foebreaker
Penelo: Black Mage, Monk
Balthier: Machinist, White Mage
Fran: Archer, Red Mage
Basch: Knight, Bushi
Ashe: Uhlan, Time Mage

It works well. Like, really, really well. For those who can't decide: this makes use of all twelve jobs, is lore-friendly for the most part, and is incredibly effective no matter which three people are in the current party. Basch in particular is ludicrously OP.

side note: Dustia chaining/farming still works! :D

Man this job stuff seems complicated, I keep going over potential parties but I can never decide on which to actually go with.

Right now I'm thinking

Vaan – Bushi – Monk
Penelo – Redmage – Time Battlemage
Basch – Knight - Bushi
Balthier – White Mage-Machinist
Fran – Archer – Uhlan
Ashe – Black Mage -Bushi

but I'm not sure what 3 person party each person would go into yet.

Does Boost mode actually do anything for this, since the 4K support is kind of worthless?

It's locked 30fps, so i wouldn't have thought so.

Doesn't Boost sometimes help with load times?

The game is Pro-enabled, meaning Boost Mode does nothing.

Boost Mode is only for non-Pro-enabled games.

Being a Pro-supported game, the game is already using all of the Pro's resources.

The licences are kind of broken no? I've not even fought the first esper and I have Curaja open already. Licence points are being shelled out like crazy too

...and that, kids, was the first time I sucked a dick for crack
For some reason I thought this also had the 'auto heal' option like FFVII Re-release does?

I cant tell if its just me but it feels like theres some input lag here. I can remember if it was like this for the original or not. Not too big of a deal since this isnt an action rpg but its kinda annoying moving the camera and chars.

Going with this... should be fun!

Vaan: Shikari / White Mage
Balthier: Machinist / Uhlan
Fran: Red Mage / Archer
Basch: Bushi / Foebreaker
Ashe: Knight / Time Mage
Penelo: Black Mage / Monk

But you don't actually have Curaja.

True, but with so many battlelore and hp upgrades unlocked now I'm feeling rather unstoppable. I guess I just didn't expect it to be so easily within reach on the board. I've not looked up locations, but I figure the shop that stocks it is likely gated off until sometime around the long journey north. Still it means I could unlock ridiculous weapons licences easy, and can't we port OP weapons of from the trials or something?

Not that I'm planning to. Kinda looking forward to the difficulty catching me back up a bit instead.

Think I'm going to keep the music at OST. Seem to like it more.

And I made Vaan into a Samurai. Something different this time. Probably make him a White mage too later on. They get 2 jobs yes?

There absolutely is input lag to everything you do. It's most noticeable in the battle menu, to the point that I simply can't get used to that lag. Everything else I've sort of gotten used to.

I don't think so, no. I've been stealing around in the trials and haven't gotten anything particularly OP. In fact, I've only got one piece of gear (a small upgrade to Vaan's light armor), rest has been potions and such.

Enemies don't drop anything in the Trials, they only give LP.

I'm very sad to hear the voice audio is still compressed. It stuck out like a sore thumb to me back on PS2, and I was really really really hoping they would fix them on this release. I just ordered my copy anywho. It really killed my immersion on PS2, but I'm a bit of a nut with audio.

Question: why are people listing two jobs for their characters? I thought you could only pick one. Or is there some hybrid system I'm not aware of?

Anyway, glad to finally jump back into FF12! I put around 100 hours into the ps2 version after several blockbuster rentals

This version adds the ability to two. It's new!

I love how ridiculous the armor is in this game. Reks is just prancing around in his boxer-briefs with some leather straps and scraps of armor.

Yoshichan

And they made him a Lord of Cinder. Not for virtue, but for might. Such is a lord, I suppose. But here I ask. Do we have a sodding chance?
Solid 16h session today.

Heading to bed, could barely concentrate near the end. I'm getting weak :(

Ah, for some reason I thought I heard something about somebody stealing an end game weapon in the trials last night.

Does 2X speed literally double the speed of everything?

I spend a lot of time in equipment and character screens too so probably not half as long.

Only gameplay, everything else plays out at normal speed, but you can use it and 4x speed to really shrink grinding times etc.
