Game soundtracks on vinyl | Analogue Gen 33fps

Ya know, they've already fully funded the album and then some, but they're still charging a massive premium for the vinyl. Suddenly their relationship with iam8bit makes total sense.

I mean... if you put it in context you might see it differently. This kickstarter isn't for a Vinyl release only and the Vinyl is ONLY for backers. Currently there are 16 backers wanting a vinyl with 14 hours to go. I can't imagine pressing 16 vinyls will grant a lot of profit, but please prove me wrong :)
If it turns out that they pressed 500-1000 copies to sell on the 8-bit store, then it would be another story ;)

I asked them about this and they didn't give a clear answer, so I think it's more likely a backer exclusive version (like they did with Zelda and are doing with the other Pokémon album).

EDIT: As someone on Facebook reminded me - it's worth keeping in mind that iam8bit and Materia Collective are working together on what they call "Series 88", which is a series of video game arrangement piano albums. This would fit quite well in that series.

And this is why they most likely will do an exclusive version. First of all no pressing plant will do such a low run (unless we're talking lathe cuts, but thankfully I strongly doubt they'd do that). However, they can do a small run in one color and a larger "non-limited" run in another no problem.

I'm not a fan of their response on Kickstarter btw. Not if you just wanted the vinyl at any rate (possible cheaper in a shop later).

Which Zelda arrangement are you talking about? My google search yielded these:
https://www.kickstarter.com/projects/samostudios/zelda-cinematica-symphonic-tribute-album
https://www.kickstarter.com/projects/materiacollective/materia-collective-presents-hero-of-time
I can't see any description explaining a backer exclusive vinyl. The "Time" vinyl on 8-bit is also 10$ cheaper than the kickstarter option, but the kickstarter gives you more goodies including a signed card.

The kickstarter I was talking about in my last post is way too vague and the response in the comment section tells me that there is no way they would pay for a pressing of 16 vinyls only. Saying you are making a "limited edition" of something does not mean there will be "plenty-of-the-regular-edition" for sale too. Smells shady marketing.

They are also the ones that said if you don't like the delays you can get your vinyl somewhere else.

Not gaming related but more SDCC vinyl stuff
Logan, Deadpool, Kingsman: The Secret Service, Dawn of the Planet of the Apes, and Rise of the Planet of the Apes are all getting vinyl pressings for their soundtracks, and come with a Blu-Ray, DVD, and Digital HD copy of the particular film. There’s no word yet on price, but you can grab these at Fox Booth #4229.
There will be a limit of one of each album per customer.

Check your tracking if your Ninja Gaiden vinyl shipped from Bravewave... My DHL status says "Address information needed; contact DHL"

Have never seen that before.

EDIT: Just got off the phone, they left off the second line of my address (company name, suite number) and listed my contact info as 0123456789. Checked my order, I provided both. This was the signed, limited edition vinyl box set. Any time I've had to make changes to a DHL delivery it has delayed packages by weeks and caused no end to frustration... We'll see what happens. So much for delivery today, though.

Did yours say that it "Departed Facility in PARIS - FRANCE" before it said "Address information needed; contact DHL" ?
Right now, mine looks okay... but I'll be checking it regularly.

I was contacted on FB by someone else with the same issue, so it's definitely a good idea to check the tracking info if your copy shipped. I've posted PSAs on my FB and Twitter as well. Hopefully noone misses out on their copy because of this.

That's what I was posting about yesterday. My second address line was not there on the DHL details but I had definitely entered it during checkout of my order. This has happened with DHL before.

By the sound of it, I'm guessing this is happening widespread?

Either way, I quickly updated it to add the second address line and it did not affect the delivery estimate. At least, not so far as I can tell. It's in the air at the moment, according to the tracking. Says estimated delivery is Monday for me.

Not right before. There were 13 tracking entries between Departed Facility in PARIS - FRANCE and contact DHL.

Glad to help get the word out there!

I've gotten tons of things delivered here via DHL as I order stuff from all over frequently. Have never had this happen. If I had to guess, it was probably an issue with the bulk address import tool Big Wax (who handled shipping for Bravewave) used to ship DHL. I've seen that type of thing happen before.

C'mon now, they're making cover albums of Zelda and Pokemon soundtracks. Those are rather obscure, so that should tell you they're doing it for the artistry, not for exploitation/profit.

It looks like a new label will be working on VGM vinyl. They're called Pixel Wax Records and there's no word on what they're working on, but they have a newsletter sign-up on their site for anyone interested: http://www.pixelwaxrecords.com/

This reminds me of whatever that label was called who was totally getting the rights to MGS and Kingdom Hearts (before closing down because they couldn't get the rights). If pixel wax has the rights to something and is already working on a release then great for them but not even having a full website page and a vague "we will release video game soundtracks" doesn't give me any confidence.

Have any of you kind souls heard anything more about the Dark Souls LP releases? Dark Souls II is a must have for this Chosen Undead right here.... Kinda jonesing to hear that beautiful orchestra on wax.

From the original announcement:

SOMETHING DARK THIS WAY COMES!
Spacelab9 and Namco join forces to bring this trilogy of terror to vinyl.
Coming July 2017 - more news soon!

But that's as specific a date as we have for now. We also know it'll be sold through Bandai Namco's store.

I haven't played much Dark Souls. The music pretty good in it and worth a vinyl buy? Any select choices you'd recommend I listen to?

Hrm, good question. I've only played 1 and 2, and vastly prefer the tunes of 2 to 1. I feel like a lot of 1 is very repetitive and pretty blagh removed from its context, except two literally perfect themes in Firelink Shrine and Daughters of Chaos. The rest is, well, here is a sample and here is another sample and a third sample. It's all great stuff, sure, but the chanting just kind of turns me off more than endears me.

Dark Souls 2 seems to have struck a different balance, opting for more contained and structured bombast- which is exactly what I seek.
Majula
Departure
Mytha The Baneful Queen
King Vendrick
Queen of Vangelic

Anyways. They're all easily accessible on Youtube, your mileage may completely vary since you have no real connection to the fights and creatures and myths of these admitted encounter themes. Now that 3 just received its GOTY edition, I'll eventually make my way toward completing the trilogy.

Goddamn it where is my copy? I don't even know if I've received a shipping notice for mine.

I'd really like to know this too. Mondo is really off their game lately; for awhile there they were the most reliable when it came to timely shipping, but I currently have three unfulfilled (four if you count Ninja Gaiden) orders just sitting around since June, or earlier. They mentioned moving warehouses in their last email to me, but that was a few weeks ago and the communication has been wretched. The timing is terrible, as I'm moving out of state in two weeks and am approaching that weird period where if something ships it may not reach me in time.

Did you order the split? It sounded like only the splatters shipped out. I purchased the split variant and I've not received a shipping notification either. That said, Mondo's usually pretty good about communication or forecasting accurate dates for things, so don't freak just yet. Might want to try them on Twitter or something if you're really worried.

I got shipping notification for Ninja Gaiden this morning. I'm guessing it's here next week.

Mine says "our for delivery" today. Let's see if the DHL gods are nice and they leave it at my doorstep.

My Ninja Gaiden updated over the weekend with all the international stuff (went from France to Belgium to Ohio, to my state) and says it's "with delivery courier" now. Hopefully it means I get it today without an issue.

I ordered the split of CV as well, and haven't received a shipping notice yet. Not too worried, as Mondo is reliable.

I'm betting you get it by the end of this week. For reference, mine was picked up in France on Thursday, and now in my local vicinity as of 6am this morning. :D

edit: Mondo store will have red/blue split of Contra on Wednesday.

I've been patiently waiting here for news, still nothing.

Also, while DS2 music is great, for me DS3 is just magnificent.

Please don't be limited as Witcher 3, still salty about missing out on that. I'm tired of missing out on music to people who'll just store the record on a collector's shelf.

I have been so busy lately that I have had a mountain of vinyl piling up to clean and get into protective sleeves. Got a good chunk of it done today, including a bunch of video game stuff I haven't gotten the chance to listen to yet.

Really disappointed in how lame the cover art is for this one, but I love the soundtrack so much, I had to have it. It is witty that you have to match the symbols on the back sleeve up to the record to know what side it is.

I don't know why the fuck this has such lame cover art, when the records themselves have that awesome as fuck label art on them.

And, I am completely running out of space on my shelves:

Still have more to get clean and put on there. Before I had the last cube dedicated to video games music, and the cube before dedicated to movie soundtracks. For now I've moved most of the video game stuff to my fancy crate:

I did have my 45's in there. For now they'll just live in my closet. Gonna have to go get another shelf soon, though.

Gonna go spend the rest of my afternoon off cleaning the house and listening to some VGM vinyl.

Did you see the runout texts on Bastion? Thought that was a pretty neat touch :)

So my "signed" Ninja Gaiden arrived... But it's sealed, with no indication that it's actually signed at all. No way I'm opening it to find out it's the wrong one....

Anyone else?
