The CW Flash has gotten bad

I've been wanting to get this off my chest for the longest. It might be harsh, but that just shows how much this show really means to me as the Flash is my favorite comic book character ever.
Wally West (red head) > Barry Allen
. One of Flash's strengths are its characters. Everyone is likable on the show, but I am VERY disappointed how much this show has fallen and it's not the characters fault, far from it. It's the writing. The amount of times I've cringed in Season 3 is off the charts. Let me start by talking about season 1.

Spoilers ahead if you have not watched any of the Flash seasons. You've been warned.

S1

Season 1 of the Flash was downright incredible. The show was so, so, good. Surprise, after surprise. Season 1 of the Flash was considered by many the best superhero TV show ever competing with the likes of Daredevil S1 for that spot. What made that season great was the villain of the show Harrison Wells aka the Reverse Flash. It was absolutely brilliant how he was using Barry from the very beginning of the very first episode. In terms of best villains ever I consider Reverse Flash top 2 just behind the Joker because he was that good.

Tom Cavanagh really knocked it out of the park with that role. He received adulation for his incredible performance as a villain. Just a little taste on how good this reveal was and damn good acting from him.

Season 1 ended a last great episode with a cliffhanger. That cliffhanger just made me and many other fans wanted to know what will happen next as it looked like Barry was going inside the singularity. But it was not what I thought it was after seeing what happened in S2, nevertheless S1 really set the bar high for the rest of the series. Like damn was it good.

S2
Season 2 wasn't a bad season, but it wasn't as good as S1. I would say it was a pretty good season for what they were trying to do, but fell short of the greatness that was S1. I like the villain Zoom, but he wasn't as impactful as Reverse Flash thanks to the the second half of the show making him look somewhat weak, but he had the most badass moment in the entire show. What he did to Barry was savage.

We were 6 episodes in and I can still remember after this badass moment Zoom was trending number 1 on Twitter. Everyone was talking how badly Barry got his ass handed to him.

That was the moment where I believed that Zoom would become a better and bigger villain compared to Reverse Flash. It was the moment where Zoom became a huge threat for Barry. One not to be messed. But it never happened. Zoom wasn't a let down, it was the writing that made his character somehow look weak in the second half of the show. Barry lost his speed and was paralyzed because of Zoom and the with the disappointing season finale he gets easily defeated by Barry? Like really? In the final episode of S1, Reverse Flash had the upper hand on Barry and almost kills him before Eddie shoots himself to which erases Eobard Thawne from existence. It was the shocking turning events that made it great. Season 2 just played it safe and was disappointing. Although I did like that Zoom became the Black Flash. That was a pretty cool moment and made me excited to see him in S3.

S3
Now for the shit show. Season 3 of the Flash was really, REALLY, bad. Terrible, terrible, writing compared to the previous seasons. I mean where do I begin? How about the bad writing? Each season we see Barry grow and get faster and faster. His top speed calculated was Mach 13.2 even though he was using a device. But even with the speed of Mach 3.3 he had in S2, there is no way in hell a freaking gorilla should be able to tag you.

For a guy who can see things in slow motion, you're telling me Solovar was fast enough to tag you?

Oh, it gets MUUUCH worse.

You see this dirt bike? Nice isn't it. Every time you take it out for a ride, it has something to say.

"My name is Dirt Bike and I am the fastest motorcycle alive. To the outside world I'm an ordinary Dirt Bike, but secretly, with the help of my partner in crime, I out speed speedsters and make them look incompetent."

Yes, I stole this quote and I don't care as I'm trying to make a point. In this scene Plunder who is on the bike managed to go FASTER, yes you heard correctly, faster than Wally West who by the way is able to reach the speeds of Mach 1. Mach freaking 1 which is the speed of sound.

Also, the way Wally is dodging the lasers looks very silly to me.

Remember the CW were doing "Flashpoint" and everyone was excited to see but it was not how we all imaged it would be? I was so disappointed by the season premiere. There's so many cool things they could've did with Flashpoint but failed badly as it was a boring episode and a silly fight between Wally West and this dude...
Sorry, I forgot who he was.

Now on to the disappointing villain. I don't want to talk much about Savitar other than he was disappointing compared to Reverse Flash and Zoom. He definitely couldn't hold their shoes and of course in the season finale he was easily defeated for a guy who calls himself "the God of Speed". I don't want to keep dragging but you get my point. They're many episodes in season 3 that really dragged and was absolutely boring. To much pointless talking. The characters are great for me, but this season was really boring and bad. There's one thing I notice with this show. Basically what it likes to do and it's really played out. This show ALWAYS in every episode tries to give Barry Allen the one on one talk rather it's Iris, Joe, Cisco, etc. I know I'm not the only one who notice this, but they really have to stop doing that every single episode for 3 seasons now.

This is what I mean about the one on one talk. It always has something to do with Barry messing something up and a friend or family have to give him that talk. They do this every episode.

There's plenty more I can talk about how bad S3 was, but I'm going to end it there. I still love this show, but damn I am noticing that each season is getting worse.

Ouch, good op though. I haven't really put much time into Flash outside of like the first 3 episodes. It looked very campy and low budget, so what can you expect?

Season 1 it was my favorite show on TV. I was on board until I fell off in season 3. I don't even know why, I just lost interest.

They just need some changes and better villains. The team has the talent to go back to greatness, as proven by Arrow.

Hopefully they improve with season 4. They basically did a worse version of season 1 with season 2 and season 3 had a poorly done version of flashpoint and had everyone all mopey with a masked villain whose identity everyone guessed halfway through the season.

Season 4 won't have a speedster as the main villain so that's already an improvement.
It's not clear whether or not Barry will be back at the end of the first episode of the season but hopefully not. Give it at least two episodes instead of ending it in one like flashpoint

Man, seeing Zoom demolish Barry was so hype. Patty/Polly/whatever-her-name-was would've saved Sesaon 3 by figuring out Savitar's identity in an instant.

I agree the first season was amazing.

Amazing how the show started to suck so quick.

They jumped the shark extremely fast. I dont care if its close to comic book related. I have no idea if it is or not, I never really read comics.

The shitheads in charge of the show are just leaning into the darker tone like arrow which is hot grimdark garbage (even the highly overrated season 5).

season 4 needs to go back to season 1 in tone and stop with the big bad mystery villain.

I wouldn't say it became bad but it's certainly dipping in writing and it had a predictable and disappointing finale.

Supergirl in the meanwhile become more fun and had a great finale.

Every CW episode of any superhero show of any season is fucking awful. Anyone saying otherwise is lying to your face.

Crashing this plane... with no survivors!
The complaints about the gorilla and dirtbike seem pretty silly to me. The Flash is the poster-child for comic book logic.

It hasn't been a sudden drop off. Season 2 was the start of a slow decline and what's more it exposed a lot of the shortcomings of the show's structure, the writing, even the acting that wasn't as apparent in season1 because of how much fun it was at the time.

Everything about Savitar was fucking terrible, from his design to the reveal of his identity. No more evil speedsters!

Also, that they built up Flashpoint so much and only spent one episode there was insane.

I watched S1, started skipping through episodes of S2 but finished it, then ultimately dropped S3 after a few episodes. Definitely lost it's charm for me.

Also, I saw a couple clips with a practical suit for Savitar later in S3, and wow.. what a plastic mess that is.

I'm definitely pretty down on Flash. Most of the characters are just not likeable. Arrow is definitely more interesting. Been re-watching seasons 1,2, and 5.

A couple of years ago people used to go on and on about how great the shows were, but it seems now I just hear about how bad they've gotten.
