I lost a Quake 3 CD
Bioshock Infinite released in a sorry state?
1. For new comers to the series could you go into a brief history of the Def Jam series. [ Kudo said:: DEF JAM: ICON is the 3rd game in the Def Jam series but the first that is truly a hip hop inspired game. The first two Def Jam games were based on a wrestling type gameplay that never really matched the spirit of hip hop. Basically they were wrestling games with a hip hop window dressing. To me, the pairing of wrestling and hip hop was broken more than that movie Pearl Harbor missed the point – it just did not make any sense.
Elephant in the room...
GoldenEye 007
Definitely the one that hurts the most for meFinal Fantasy Versus XIII.
Microsoft published Ninja Gaiden II (Xbox 360) was rushed out to go toe-to-toe with the PS3's MGS4, in addition to shenanigans that got Itagaki out the door. It clearly suffered from not having a few more months to polish the back half of the game and tweak enemies. It could have been better than Ninja Gaiden Black.
And that Final Fantasy VI tech demo for the N64. At the time I thought it was going to be a real game, even calling it Final Fantasy 64. Then Square dumped Nintendo in favor of Sony.
I heard the original version of Mother 3 had a much darker ending and while I absolutely love the ending we got, I'm still very curious to see what that darker ending would have been like.Earthbound 64. I know Japan eventually got Mother 3. But I remember seeing videos for EB64 and being excited.

The reason why AKI lost it is also really awful
I don't know what it was called or what system it was made for (Something tells me it was a PS3 or PS3/360 console exclusive) but I distinctly remember a great looking cover based third person shooter for the last console generation. The video looked like it was a slightly upgraded gameplay demo featuring a slim, long haired guy at a gas station in the middle of a desert.
The video started with the main protagonist (we'll call him the Gas Man) minding his own business, and he looked anxious for reasons that would be made clear in a few seconds. Then all of a sudden a gang of armed men surrounded the Gas Man and a gun battle ensued. At this point you saw the camera shift from a cinematic to real gameplay. And during the video you saw Gas Man move from car to car, realistically shuffling his feet as he shifted his body weight to change direction. It was right around the time Gears of War came out (if not slightly before. I'm pretty sure I saw the video on Cinematec on G4 as well) and I remember being floored by how realistic Gas Man looked as he dodged gunfire and ran from cover to cover. The explosions looked pretty cool too.
I've been avidly following gaming news since I was in the first grade (I'm almost thirty now) and yet I have never been able to find out what this game was called and what ever happened to it. I would be really surprised if it transformed into something else, but my gut's telling me it was canned without any aplomb.
Eight Days?
No mention of Starcraft: Ghost yet?
I remember playing the demo at E3. It was pretty underwhelming, but felt like it had TONS of potential to be great.
Star Wars Galaxies - Pre-NGE
Body Harvest never developing into a franchise.
It still stings and always will, would've gladly waited 5 more years or so but thats not how business works.Final Fantasy Versus XIII.
My personal tragedy back in the day was the English version of the PSX Dragon Quest IV remake getting cancelled. A remake of my all time favorite video game and I don't get to play it. Took me a long time to get over it.
Earthbound 64 getting canceled is a travesty.
I worked at LGS and used to have a Deep Cover ISO and the ROM of Mini Racers. Many many many hard drives ago.Damn, now I'm going to wishing this was a thing. That sounds like it would have been really unique
Ahhh. There was the AI game that turned into Sea Blade and Access Software was working on something, but I forgot what genre it was.Everything Ive recovered is from Radical Entertainment. Two Simpsons builds, two (or more actually) builds of Dark Summit, and one of AI The Circuit, the arena fighting game.
