Final Fantasy XII The Zodiac Age |OT| You Had One Job!

Finally wrapped up the story today. I'd nearly forgotten how good those ending cutscenes are tbh. They were more emotional than I expected. Anyways, the game is still fantastic and holds up extremely well. I'll probably go back to do Yiazmat at some point in the future, but for now I'm done.

EDIT: Also here's a link if anyone wants to listen to the Exclusive Arrangement bonus tracks.

Deidars is the best method for Orichalcum, you only need 3 I think. They're not that hard to farm, and the red bridges yield some good items as well. I stole one from Vishno and the other 2 I farmed from Deidars.

I came to the conclusion that poaching is useless. I poached a Coeurl for the trippet, which you can also get at Sandsea and Feywood anyway. I guess its nice if you want 3. But thats the only time I used poach and I have made all the ultimate weapons. Even for those Wargods bands, which took me the longest time to gather as I didn't abuse the rare game, I first poached those horses for 30 minutes and nothing. Then I decided to just kill with monograph and I think it took me an hour to get 4.

Just finished. Game definitely gets weaker after the mid point but still an amazing and complete game.

Square NEED to make another Ivalice game.

I'm not quite done, few more hours to go, but I completely agree. I think it's because after the midpoint the areas you travel through become so big, and it feels like you're just walking from one point to another forever (fast forward helps a lot). I still have loooved my time with it but as I get closer to the end it's starting to feel a tad like a chore.

What's the best headgear for non-heavy armor users like WM/Mach, Monk/BM etc?

The highest level armor of each type (light/mystic/heavy) generally has two best options that you ought to balance against each other. But yeah, it's Circlet vs. Renewing Morion vs. Dueling Mask, generally. Really depends what you're building the character toward, though.

Does new arrows even improve the damage calculation for bows much? What's the difference between 1 damage arrows and 2 damage arrows?

Not a big difference, really. Elemental/status stuff is largely what ammunition is about; the raw strength for guns matters more since they are generally low attack but ignore enemy defense.

That said, every little bit helps and ammunition is super cheap to buy. There's no disadvantage to picking up one of every new ammunition type that becomes available in stores.

Uhh, I just finished every license board for every character and didn't unlock runeweaver and jack of all trades trophies...

Am I screwed with this playthrough? I have one of each class and I still didn't get it...

Need advice for two espers. I'm using the My Party Jobs for my team on the Zodac Google Sheet:

https://docs.google.com/spreadsheet...KvC5yipu9Yfh0IZ6YE-mh_e59g/htmlview?sle=true#

Adrammelech - Should I give this to Penelo or wait until or wait until Hashmal? I feel like I should give this to Penelo since Basch would get better spells with Hashmal even though I would lose out on an extra Quickening for Penelo.

Shemhazai - Either Vaan for Cleanse/Esuna or Fran for Heavy Armor. Not sure which would be better. Seems like there are other opportunites for Fran to get Heavy Armor as an Archer but these are the strongest 3 variants.

You just need to have all magick and technick in your inventory. No need to to learn them.

In Sochen Cave Palace for the first time. There routes blocked by waterfalls and a couple of doors with inscriptions and hints at a puzzle, attempting to open them yields nothing. There's also an area seemingly unreachable.

Are these things I should be able to solve in a future visit, or did I miss a key part of a puzzle?

You can open those doors and paths the first time through, though one of them will lead to a locked door you can't open yet.

I'm at the final dungeon, I will finish the story first before taking care of the remaining rare games, hunts and summons.

Once I'm done with that,I will move on to Trail mode.
Never beat it in IZJS, but it's time to change that.
I don't mind trying it again, since the final boss fight is awesome.

Finally got the grand armor after giving up Helvineks. For those looking for Grand Armor also, I grabbed it from Cerobi Steppe by RNG manipulation. The chest is in The Northsward, exactly at the centre of the northern edge behind a rock.

I used this: http://www.fftogether.com/guides/30c226cef86df1fd5989597494c35832.txt

Here's how I did it exactly:

Play Reks until save point, kill the 3 soldiers on the stairs and return to the savepoint. Make a new save. Exit to title. Then play your regular game to Cerobi steppe, completely clean the northsward area up, a rare game will spawn in the middle. Kill him as well. Then remove all buff items from your chars, disable gambits. And make a 1 man party that has no weapons equipped, but only gear and Diamond Armlet, I tend to use my MCH/WM as he can't damage himself. Phase out via the southwest exit (Crossroads), phase in to create an autosave. Close application.

Start game and load Reks (nalbina fortress save). And cure until he gets 94,97,87. Should kick in at around the 8th cure or so. Exit to menu and load up Cerobi Steppe autosave. Now this isn't mentioned in the guide, but it seems that if you approach from the centre, the flan might spawn which fucks you up. I also fucked up once by activating a trap next to the chest right side. Keep at the left edge of the map, and run north towards the chest, thus approaching it from the left side.

Then hit yourself 27x, and cure 6 times and open the chest.

1. Start with the 3's
2. Mist charge asap
3. Get lucky with the 1's and 2's

Also, mash ike crazy, because than the countdown doesn't go down or at least much slower.

I've been 2 quickenings away from it but as soon as I have to tap r2 and hit a button at that point it's nearly impossible.

I don't think I want the platinum badly enough to do the concurrence trophy. If I accidentally get it at some point then I'd probably be motivated to do everything else, but fuck the quickening chains. I'm so bad at it.

Just beat the Trial Mode and got the Platinum trophy!!!

It was a bit of a slog getting the bestiary and mist trophies but it was worth it to get a platinum for one of my favorite games of all time. It still holds up after all these years.

FF12 sequel? Yes, please!

Strange. Its awkward but once you get use to it I dont feel like they are that difficult to get. Some luck is needed but just find a crystal and you can replenish your mist quickly. This was one of the easier trophies for me but I play this game every other year or so. Did Black Hole on first shot for my play through...hardest part for me was finding a list of all the combos online lol.

Just made it to Old Archades and found a talking Cockatrice... Wot?!

There is a quest line with a few of them

If nothing else helps, you can always just spam blindly.
Don't think about it, just hit whatever is ready, only use r2 if there is nothing to hit.

I'm looking for some job advice please. I have the following jobs pencilled in for my party:

Vaan: Shikari/White Mage
Balthier: Shikari/Bushi
Fran: Monk/Time BattleMage
Basch: Knight/Bushi
Ashe: Black Mage/Red BattleMage
Penelo: Black Mage/Monk

I'm not fussed about using every job, but I do want a party I can earn the Platinum trophy with. I know most job combinations are solid, but how does these theoretically hold up?

Edit:

Job dilemma aside, man do I love this game! This is my first play through having never had the privilege of experiencing the original title. It's up there with my favourites; easily top three.

Heavy armor kind of sucks. there are limited opportunities to have your characters branch out and learn new spells, so unless it makes absolutely no sense, like in a weak mode playthrough, I give extra spells to characters when I can. So IMO Adrammelech should go to Basch and Hashmal to Fran. It's too bad neither of those characters have access to mystic armor, but you don't need it for brave/raise.

Edit - one thing that annoys me about the unlocks via Espers and quickenings is that there are multiple paths to unlock heavy armor and melee weapons for your mages, but no paths to unlock mystic armor for your knight or monk, despite giving them awesome spells later in the game. If you didn't have the foresight to pair those jobs with mystic armor jobs, you are left with weak as hell holy, curaja, etc.

So I've been busting my ass working towards some end game items and weapons, like hunts and club and quests. And I keep seeing people saying "oh I got 3 ribbons from trial mode", "I got zodiac spear from trial mode". I didn't luck out getting a diamond arm let from loot or drop so I've been hustling for a couple days now to get it from hunt club to only find out that's changed to in ZA. But apparently there is a diamond armlet in a chest on the first level of trial mode? Fuckkkk!!!

So I need to basically drop this other stuff and just go into trial mode to get f'ing everything? What are things I should get in trial mode or look out for, obviously zodiac spear and ribbons. How far can I expect to get at level 50 or better? I've been steamrolling places like
necrohol
and clearing rank VI hunts with ease and have most techniques and spells at this point.

There's a diamond armlet in the westersands, among level 8 enemies lol. You can get it near the beginning of the game. (you can also get the one in trial mode at the beginning too)

I find the trial mode to be a bit of a detriment to the game because you can easily make yourself really overpowered very fast, which is kind of pointless and takes away any challenge. You can literally get an end game sword from the 3rd or 4th trial. It's silly.

As to your question, at your level, you should get quite far. Easily far enough to get to the boss who you can steal ribbons from. If I were you I would avoid it though until you've done everything, because like you said, you are already overpowered.

By the way for anyone who isn't aware, this site is your ultimate resource for treasure chest spawns and contents. If you ever wonder if there's anything worth going after in a particular map, this will tell you:

You don't want more than 1 monk (and knight for that matter), because only 1 of them can learn the white mage skills.
Uhlan are awesome dd's, you should get at least 1. Also, you should get 1 Foebreaker for late/post game.
You can savely skip archer and machinist
Are there any trophies that require we use all jobs?
Nope.

What I did was give Adrammelech to Penelo for Cura and Raise, Shemhazai to Vaan for Cleanse and Esuna, and Famfrit to Balthier for Vanishga, Warp / Slowga, Reflectga / Graviga, Hastega
