The SEGA Renaissance (Even if they're not that involved) - where to now?

Treasure and Platinum Games presents Alien Soldier

Tri-Ace: Either Resonance of Fate 2 or join together with Sonic Team and Remake Phantasy Star I-IV

Atlus can drop Story of Thor 3, I don't want to call it "Oasis" and get it mixed with that other game that ain't Story of Thor.

SOME FUCKING ARCADE PORTS

Was also thinking of making a thread about Sega killing it this year. They're name is plastered on some of the greatest releases this year.

Persona 5 one of the greatest jrpg's ever made. Puyo Puyo Tetris, the best console version of both Tetris and Puyo Puyo. And Sonic Mania, which is a fantastic game and already in the conversation for best Sonic game. Not to mention Yakuza 0, a GOTY contender that released in January.

I don't know about a renaissance but it's a serious return to form. Hope they can keep it up!

I only said partner with Nintendo for Bayonetta 3 because I think Nintendo would fund it properly to make sure it was a quality game.

I'd actually prefer if the agreement allowed for later PC ports of both the second and third game (which would maybe require Sega to provide more of the funding). Like Lost World and other games that Nintendo partnered on for Wii U that then hit other platforms.

Yeah, when I saw the thread title I thought this was going to be about Yakuza 0 along with all the great games like Persona 5 and Endless Space 2 from studios they've bought. The new blood they've brought in (and deftly allowed to flourish without a heavy hand) has really revitalized the company and the brand in my eyes.

But to OP's question, I'd love to see a proper Valkyria Chronicles sequel on PS4. And some racing games would be nice.

Actually Golden Axe: Revenge of Death Adder was never released outside of arcades. I'd love to get that, maybe an enhanced version if that would add to the game.

New Streets of Rage, Shinobi and Phantasy Star V.

Sprite graphics like Sonic Mania. Most people won't care for some multi million dollar remake.

Anyone know a good email address for sending proposals to Sega? Figure it's worth a shot.

EDIT: Cool, someone at Sega contacted me and said he'd pass my details on to the right people. :)

Shining Force 3 (discs 1, 2, 3 and Premium Disc) finally released as one remastered collection and translated. Very few played all of the Shining Force 3 games even in japan where the first 3 discs released (other countries only got disc 1), because Premium Disc required you to collect tabs from the first 3 disc game releases and then send them off to get the final installment Premium Disc to complete the saga.

Sound far fetched to bring this back? Well Shining Force Central for YEARS have been translating these games and have them playable. If they can partner with talented fans to preserve Sonic I think it'd be more than wise to partner with this project to finally release one of the most sought after titles in a series in a complete form finally. I'm honestly pushing this to Degica who are looking for new projects to try and seek out and localize since they have experience in just this sorta thing. Here's hoping it takes off.

I'm surprised no one's mention Moonwalker yet - I'd happily go for another dance-platformer action game (would even fit the meme of Platinum games making it).

These are the ones I used last year on the 25th anniversary of Streets Of Rage:

help@sega.co.uk
help@sega.com
support@sega.de
soporte@sega.es
supportclient@sega.fr

I found those addresses on this site: http://www.sega.nl/support

Reaching Sega of Japan is a bit trickier. They have a web form you can fill in, but everything is in Japanese (obviously): https://sega.jp/contact/web/

Here's how to make sense of the webform:

What you are inquiring about: (Choose the bottom one. It means 'Other')
Your name:
E-mail address:
Your comments:

Select the right-most option after completing the form.

Another web form for Sega of Japan: https://sega.jp/opinion/
This one is similar to the one above, but I think the boxes for 'your name' and 'e-mail address' are flipped.

Here's the message I sent last year, if anyone's wondering:

Dear SEGA,

First of all: happy 25th anniversary, Streets of Rage!

Now that Sonic Mania's reveal has been met with a chorus of approval, many people are wondering if the long-neglected Streets of Rage franchise will finally receive a new installment. If starting from scratch would be too much work, please remember that a lot of the groundwork has already been done by Bombergames, the creators of Streets of Rage Remake. Perhaps SEGA can recruit Bombergames to do the same thing for Streets of Rage as Christian Whitehead did for Sonic.

Streets of Rage is a fantastic series, beloved by countless people all over the world. Now would be a good time to consider its return.

Kind regards,
Retroman

Bring back Shining Force. It could be the perfect counterpart for the Fire Emblem's newfound popularity if they wouldn't fuck it up.

MrArseFace
Shenmue 1&2 HD
Powerstone collection HD
Virtua collection (fighter, racing, on)
Racing collection (virtua racing, Daytona 1&2, axis race, Sega rally 1&2)

I'd also quite like a release of the older games like outrun/powerdrift etc on console (basically ports of the 3DS collections)

The well's kinda poisoned on the use of Michael Jackson, and who'd even be as iconically associated with dancing nowadays to such an extent?

They can keep on keeping on localizing Yakuza games if Sony's funds can keep the good will going, or maybe it's doing alright enough for them to just do it on their own for goodness sake.I'm not even that skeptical about PC ports of Yakuza anymore. Persona will be a huge money source in any case, non-stop-infinite milking of that franchise seems to have a solid future.

A Streets of Rage Mania with Bombergames makes a lot of sense. Maybe a Shining Force Mania involving the fans at SFC. Those and Sonic seem like the 3 with the most passionate fan communities.

As an option sure. As long as they didn't have to casual it down like Namco's Mario Kart.

Remember that Ancient, creators of Beyond Oasis and Gotta Protectors on 3DS, are still around.

They consist of at least a couple of key members of the SoR team, namely Ayano and Yuzo Koshiro. I'd trust them to develop a new installment the most. At least, I'd have someone like Bombergames or Arc System Works to collaborate with them.

I'm super grateful these are happening as they're really, really good (the ones released so far anyway). But I won't believe there's a renaissance until Streets of Rage's comeback finally happens! Also OutRun 3.

Oh and mandatory nonsense request: Fantasy Zone Mania :(

In a perfect world I'd have Bombersgames put out some kind of Streets of Rage Remake+ and in the meantime give Ancient plenty of time to make Streets of Rage 4 proper.

This thread is basically what's going through my head every day, as I sit here and listen to Jet Set Radio Live or continue with my current playthrough of Shining the Holy Ark or whatever I may be doing at the moment.
They did. Code of Princess kinda sucked unfortunately.
And then Treasure revisited Guardian Heroes for the XBLA re-release and somehow actually made the game better in every way.

Time for Jet Blast Radio by Insomniac.

Panzer Dragoon Safa by an Atlus team would be more realistic.

Or Ecco the Dolphin, but by the Limbo/Inside team.

Almost every way. Unfortunately there's no way to do 6 player local multi on Xbox 360, but I suppose that's a limitation of the system itself since it can only handle 4 controllers max.

I would say this is probably offset by the fact that you can do 12 players online, while also having a frame rate.
