Agents of Mayhem bombs in the UK (shocking news /s)

To be fair to Deep Silver, I have see billboards for this game. Bethesda is the only other publisher that actually advertises games in the UK.

Marketing is the least of this game's problem.

Many games with far lesser marketing are able to generate swells of interest organically, either by virtue of controversy, interesting premise, cool idea, concept, or whatever. Something that excites people to pay attention to a game, etc.

Agents of Mayhem is a game that I see is treated on the same level as games like Gravity Rush.

Complete & utter apathy/disinterest from mainstream audience.

Sadly, somehow it just fails to excite or turn people's head, quality notwithstanding.

I'm in the same boat as a few others, I had just assumed this was an online multiplayer and not been interested enough in it to bother reading any reviews or watching any videos. I might go take a look now I know what it is.

That's not true. Most of them advertise here (Especially EA and Ubisoft). I was posting earlier about F1 being all over TV last night and that's small time Codemasters.

Bombed but still 4th in the charts ? Ok then, must be really slow at the moment then. I guess everyone is still buying Crash and GTA.

I remember Saints Row 4 being advertised heavily on TV here in the UK in the run up to and after launch.
I haven't seen a single ad for this though.

I plan to get it, but not until the PC version is sub-£20.

Same. The only reason I recognise the name at all is because of the thread on GAF asking if anyone was excited for it - I'd never heard of it before then and didn't realise it had actually been released until now.

Seemed interesting before I found out it was single player only and then the video I saw of some boss fight that looked boring as fuck.

Good. If we're lucky, this cookie cutter multiplayer only bullshit will continue to bomb and maybe this industry will finally wake up

Lol

That said, this post highlights a huge problem with this assumptions people had about this game

I hope Volition survives this. I'm still for a return to the formula of Red Faction Guerilla, maybe even remake that to save money. The destruction could be glorious on a new generation of hardware.

Doesnt help that the PC version is atrocious. Didnt look interesting enough to buy in the humble bundle or on its own.

This is a post I can get behind.

Just complete disinterest.

Yikes. Read up on the source material before throwing shit at least. It is a single player only game...

I saw it coming a mile away. That is why I figured Crash wouldn't be dethroned until next week with stuff like UC, Madden, etc... launching.

Ehhh it looked alright. But honestly it needed to come out cheaper. Not seen the marketing for it anywhere.
Looked kinda fun but wouldnt homd my attention for long

Ironically, having co-op would have enticed me to buy the game. Most of my Saints Row enjoyment came from playing them with friends frankly.

Didn't even know this game existed until I read the "What will be the bomba of 2017" thread.

Still haven't read/seen anything about it.

Not surprised. Marketing for the game was barely there and what was did not do a good job in any way. Everyone thought it was multiplayer or co-op and not single player only.

Reviews were very mixed too. But it's actually a really fun game, though not without it's problems. Don't blame anyone not wanting to drop $60 on it. But I really wish it did well enough for Volition to make a sequel. It's a great concept and core gameplay/combat, but just needs more refinement and unique content.

I rented it out of the Redbox for the night. Really enjoyed what I played of it. I would have purchased it but I knew the price would drop like a rock in the near future. Holding out for a sale.

I bought it digital since the physical was expected to land 3 days after release. If tjat was the case elsewhere I suspect many ithers did the same.

The game definitely has problems but what is there is fun.

There was literally no marketing or rumblings about the game until a couple weeks before release. They went months being silent and I legit forgot it was coming/existed after the initial e3 reveal.

I'm getting this game after price drops. Just have a huge backlog that I've been trying to slog through. So wallet only opens for game sales

Reading this thread and I too am just finding out it's single-player only. I watched the reveal trailer (I think that was it, with the character on the motorcycle) and thought it was a hero-based multiplayer-only game.

I got the digital version for free on PS4. Played for a bit, it's fine. Just very much unremarkable. I cannot see myself finishing the campaign any time soon. Platinum is out of the question because you need to grind a thousand hours for some of those stupid daily community challenges.

Also, some highly questionable, PS2 era design choices in menus here.
