"Love for America Requires Love For All its People." -- Donald Trump

I'm sorry, but I just cannot get behind this statement my president said tonight. Love for white supremacists and love for Nazis should not be tolerated. I know we have freedom of speech in this country but this does not mean I have to withstand such horrible people. Is it terrible to say they do not deserve the same rights as I enjoy? The academic side of me abhors that I feel certain people do not deserve such liberty, but I just cannot see why we should let such hate exist. Acknowledging that I must love them legitimizes them. And I cannot be a part of that.

But in the end, this hate that I feel towards another human being, towards these racists, does this not make me any better than they are? How can I, at the same time, abide and advocate, "you should respect all people no matter if they are gay, may be of a different color, or sex" when I do not feel all people includes white supremists? I know I'm conflating the issue in a way where one group is just people and the other represents hate...but they are still just people too, right?

What a time to be alive where I'm having to justify and make excuses for all this nonsense. My county needs to grow up.

Love for America requires love for America, and waving a flag of Confederates or Nazis is waving an anti-American flag.

White nationalists are a zit on the face of America. You can still love a face while helping it to clean its pores.

But in the end, this hate that I feel towards another human being, towards these racists, does this not make me any better than they are? You hate people because all they do is spew hate. They hate people because they're different from them. That's the difference.

It's the same as "All Lives Matter". A statement that sounds good in a vacuum, but in context is used to try to shut people up and enable abuse.

Tolerate all but intolerance, it's very simple. Love everything but hate. Nazis do not deserve love, they do not seek it.

Fuck off dickwad! If it were up to him, I'd be a 2nd class citizen because of the color of my skin.

Well, he's not lying, atleast in his own mind. He just doesn't view those with non-white skin as people.

Technically America doesn't include Nazis and Supremacists as it's people in my point of view. So in that case he's in a very obtuse way, correct.

Besides, I can love people enough to show them that they can be better than who they are now. They need lots of "encouragement". Sometimes through force.

Meanwhile he's breaking up families, deporting law abiding immigrants, and supporting Nazis and Secessionists.

Oh, and working for Russia to undermine our government.

Once we tolerate the people who spew hate we give them a chance to drown out the people who are the most at risk of being hurt by their rhetoric.

There is something to be said for:
But I say unto you, Love your enemies, bless them that curse you, do good to them that hate you, and pray for them which despitefully use you, and persecute you;

That doesn't mean you don't fight against hate, but you do so without malice in your own heart. Hate begets more hate.

Coming from Trump it feels disengenious though.

I mean yes to a certain extent but Trump only pulls out "We should love everyone." when nazis are involved. When it's anyone who isn't his crazy political base like immigrants and black people, he's a little less loving.

I can already see in 10 years a historian scouring dozens of his terrible speeches just to find this quote to put in a wall of his presidential library.

Absolutely hollow.

Thank God I don't have to love any of those people who were born in other countries at least. Thanks for the clarification Mr. President!

Is it dark that I see his quote more about accepting fuckin' Nazis then the people they're targeting?
The lack of self-awareness is insane. There's an entire group that thinks its fine to kill/enslave people because of their race, complaining that if you don't love them you're intolerant and you don't "love" America.
