This is actually listed as a campaign event for 2020, his campaign is paying for it.
President Obama would occasionally hold rallies to push his legislative agenda.
He just needs his ego stroked 24/7.

You are correct. Dude is like 2 years plus early.
Of course we know what it is. He gets hammered by the media, well pretty much everybody but his die hards, so he needs a good stroking from them now and again so he can feel like a special boy.
His reelection campaign started as soon as he was the confirmed winner. I believe he trademarked the slogan for his 2020 bid like a month before the official election.

I'm guessing he will start out sticking pretty close to the teleprompter/script. From there, it'll depend entirely on the crowd. If the crowd responds strongly to the teleprompter script, then he'll probably stick close to it for the whole rally.
...but if the crowd seems rather lukewarm, then Trump will go off script and then all bets are off. Trump isn't doing this to promote healthcare, tax reform, or even his 2020 reelection. As others have said, this is a ego-stroking event. So if he feels the crowd isn't responding well to the teleprompter, he'll say whatever he needs to, to get the crowd shouting and cheering to satisfy his ego.
I do think some in the media are over-hyping this though. They're acting like mass violence is going to break-out and Trump is going to wear a white pointy hat shouting nazi slogans. By that standard, it's going to be very easy for Trump supporters and conservative media to claim victory.
