Its finally here : https://www.reddit.com/r/skyrimmods/comments/6zlgxk/skse64_200_alpha/

for those in the dark :

The Skyrim Script Extender (SKSE) is a tool used by many Skyrim mods that expands scripting capabilities and adds additional functionality to the game. .

Basically it is the essential cornerstone to allow most of the amazing Mods On Skyrim to actually work .

SKSE64 was the version that was in Development for Skyrim :Special Edition but got put on hold until further notice due to lack of time , required skills and motivation .

For a time things seemed like it would stay stuck in Development hell forever....

Until now !

Now before Everyone jumps of their seat and gets too excited :THEY MADE THIS VERY CLEAR :

Here is an alpha version of SKSE64. It is currently not intended for use by most users. It will be primarily interesting for mod authors and people who want to test things.

even so this is a Major Step in modding Skyrim :SE to hell and back .

Mod this thread to hell if needed .

That's ok. Bethesda will implement their amazing community workshop and kill scripting weekly!

Anyways, downloaded. Now hopefully we will get proper interface mods.

Dope.

The modding scene for this game is insane. Decked out my skyrim the other day and it's almost unrecognizable from the base game.

SSE actually looks really really good in some places, perhaps even better as vanilla than with ENB's, so this is good to hear.

My 11,000th playthrough of Skyrim is imminent. And by playthrough I mean download and install 300 mods, play for 10 minutes, delete game.

I usually just see how many visual mods I can get before I max out my computer or start crashing lol, I want to do a proper playthrough with 100+ mods but my near-LOD load times get insane, which might be due to my Hard Drive's speed, same for Fallout 4

You really want an SSD to solve that. It helps tremendously.

SkyUI already works in SE. At least, I have it working. I don't remember how though. I think there was a special version you had to install.

It kinda works but is missing TONS of functionalities.

Edit: People on reddit are saying that they got SkyUI working no the alpha SKSE64 but converting it manually. I really want to that if nobody upload a funcional version.

It's SkyUI. I expect a functional release on Nexusmods by the end of the week.

Yeah you had to get a pre-SKSE version, which I think was maybe 1.3 but don't quote me on that. It was lacking a lot of nice features though.

Edit: See that was already quoted though with a similar response.

Is there any reason why Bethesda didn't already bake this into Skyrim SE and FO4 from the start given that it was a huge aspect of all their past game's modding communities so why limit it given the huge importance that is to their game's success on PCs?

Why put any effort into anything when the fans will do it for free?

Not saying that's a good way to see things, just that Bethesda probably does :p

Just seems odd with how huge a push they've been making with the Modding scene since FO4's release and SEs release, which was in large part entirely focused on that aspect, but I guess that's been more console oriented than anything else and the SE doesn't extend to that front. So it's a waste in that regard I guess.

Might be way off, but I would imagine they'd had a much easier time implementing it given their direct access to everything than it is for Silverlock people.

Is there any reason to even choose SE over modded vanilla on PC? Does it have better optimization or something?

Until this morning, no.

Now? Well...check back in in a month or so.

Edit: NM, that's a large thread about many things, not specifically this

Why am I so excited? I don't need to spend more than the 500 hours I spent on the original game on this version...

I play with a controller so I don't use SkyUI, but I'm hyped for some of the bigger mods, add-ons, etc.

SkyUI is a boon to everyone regardless whether you use a controller or not. Skyrim's shitty interface has very little to do with being designed for controllers. It's just plain bad period.

Sky UI is essential even for controller users. In my opinion. I play with a controller too and it has always been fine with it.

Many reasons. It's 64 bit and more stable with a bunch of mods. Runs smoother. I haven't went back after it came out. Old Skyrim is very outdated.

Personally i always found SkyUI intolerable somehow. Added functions were largely useless for me, and it wasn't exactly controller friendly. The standard UI isn't great but controls better with a controller. At least as long as you ain't casting spells... but then spellcasting in Skyrim sucks no matter how you approach it, regardless of UI.

That said, many mods need MCM that is, for some reason, only bundled with SkyUI. Because of that, i used SkyUI and SkyUIAway to get MCM but not need to deal with SkyUI.

I'm starting to wonder why they haven't been hired at this point or this isn't being done internally prior to launch. Script Enhancers are obviously really important and a lot of people won't even touch the game until they are released.
