Well, at least the chances of getting his Rearmed skin as a DLC costume is basically 100% since Spencer isn't exactly brimming with alternate costume options.
I do think going with Rearmed as the default would have been a nice idea, if only to make him feel a little less recycled from MvC3.

They both deserve their spots in terms how known/popular the characters are, don't get me wrong, just to me they're not the most exciting designs in comparison to other potential Marvel characters.
Guy in a black body suit who will likely have acrobatic/speedy/clawing moves and, at a guess, play some kind of rushdown style that won't interest me, and a woman in a black body suit who will likely have acrobatic/speedy/gun moves. Yawn.
I can think of tons of characters who would stand out visually and potentially have awesome, crazy plays styles such as Doc Ock, Ms. Marvel, Sandman, Mysterio, Squirrel Girl, Loki, Scarlet Witch etc.
Hopefully we'll see some of these as future DLC. As it is it just feels like Capcom (by way of Marvel) are playing it super safe with the character choices, unlike in the past where there were always some oddball roster choices (Shuma, Blackheart, MODOK, Marrow... Rocket and Dormammu when they were first revealed etc)

Here's hoping we get Flash Thompson Venom. Dude was legit the best Venom they had. Wouldn't mind if he had an "install form" like some folks get that swaps his moveset and turns him into the old Venom though. I've seen him lose full control over the parasite in the comic book and roid out like that before so it'd fit.

"Meltdowns" might be a little strong, but there would be a definite backlash from fans if the "Black Widow" that got in is an obscure character from a Capcom wrestling game, and not Scarlet Johansson.
Still, in the end it doesn't really matter to me if the Marvel Black Widow or Capcom Black Widow make it in. If we get Marvel Black Widow, the whatev--it's another safe MCU character. If Capcom Black Widow gets in then yay, it's a character more obscure than Norimaro.
Meh, Marvel has their reasons but Capcom can go anywhere on their roster though.

There's 0.01 chance that it isn't Natasha, whom is long overdue for this series anyway.

I want more females but I have never found Black Widow interesting. Give me She-Hulk any day of the week.
Yep, especially for a Marvel game. But I guess since she and Gamora are the only female heroes in the MCU (with Cap Marvel coming after them) they got priority.
I wonder if Capcom is bring two veterans from Marvel 3 and giving them to owners for free. That's the only explanation I can think of.
They're both good characters. Unless you're just talking about the MCU(still like her in the movies) I don't see how Widow could be uninteresting. If its because she has no powers...look at the rest of the Marvel side.

I admit I'm only really familiar with MCU Widow so if she's better in the comics I'm sorry.
She's just a character I've not really taken too. I find her design boring. As for no powers I'm not a fan of that ether because unlike say Hawkeye I don't think she would have a gimic I would find interesting.
Again Medusa,Kamala, Spider-Woman(Pick one,any one), Wasp, Hazmat, Nico just so many characters I would rather have.
I hear you but games like this are going to have the popular characters first and really none of those would ever get in over her. Widow SHOULD have been in the base roster which would open up some more slots for creativity but they shit the bed in that regard so we'll have to wait for some better female picks.

I think something happened with 3rd capcom character during development (maybe technical issues just like Ant-Man) so they probably figured that it's better for them to delay the character into 2018.

I love the MvC2 Venom sprite work so much. This model and animations better not disappoint.
Really should have gone with the F(x)-men for the OT. Don't know if the OT will change though once Widow or Monster Hunter joins the roster.
As for "Slammasters" Black Widow over Marvel's Black Widow, that would piss off alot more people than just Black Widow fanboys.
Mainly that you could have had Asura... You could have had Gene... But the person they go with is someone like that instead over them? The Hate Train would be doubling down from there.
Yawn on Black Widow and Winter Soldier (both being mostly athletic humans with guns, one would assume) and surprise at the lack of an additional Capcom character when there are so many that people are clamoring for (in my case: Captain Commando, Regina, Son Son, Amingo, Talbain, Asura, Gene, Jack Baker, and most of all, Ruby Heart).
Screw Marvel characters being a bigger draw than Capcom ones, a cross-over game needs an even roster imo. And no, older Capcom characters not helping to sell any new games is no excuse for a lack of roster parity either...
Venom is great to be confirmed though.

Blame tight marketing $. You'd be surprised at how freaking expensive reveal trailers can get and they didn't move the needle last time. Ant Farm and Artifact (two popular creative shops) for example can charge anywhere from tens of thousands of $ per trailer depending on the level of complexity/if they have to capture footage themselves or generate art and assets from scratch. Multiply that by 10 character reveals and it gets extraneous...
Just theorizing here since it seemed like Capcom did character reveal trailers and just stopped at a certain point with this game after the negative E3 response. If it sells hopefully we'll get the cool reveal stuff.

Ironically they probably want you to buy the DLC you don't want in order to fund development for the DLC that you do want...

I remember the days were I waited for some of the big events and expected for some character trailers, those were great times...

If the gameplay of the already announced characters seems fun, I would probably end up buying them.
Capcom/Marvel could let us know if there's a way to affect the characters that are chosen for the DLC.
I feel like Black Widow is just going to be a clone of Jill from MvC3. It's a perfect choice for recycling animations.
Winter Soldier is a big snoozer for me but I get it.
Venom and Monster Hunter are cool, though.
It's funny that the MvC3 devs said some characters didn't make the cut because they wanted to avoid having too many "punchy" fighters and MvCI DGAF.

I wouldn't mind seeing BW being some form of Jill's clone as long as she returns with a new moveset or an updated version of the moves she had in 2.

It feels like they've cheaped out of the promotion or it's being badly handled.
For MvC3 you had character trailers for every new addition, and there was a certain amount of hype for each reveal.
Now it's dropped at the end of a statement. I've seen more trailers for preorders and DLC costumes than new characters for Infinite. :/
Jill's MvC3 move set was tailor-made for Jill, with 90% of her attacks based on animations from Resident Evil 5. Capcom isn't going to give Black Widow an RE5 move set, especially with oversight from Marvel. She might be a nimble martial artist like Jill, but she'll have her own fighting aesthetic, and she'll have unique gadgets to further set her apart.
My first thought as well. Otherwise what's with the uneven representation in this batch?

The characters built from the ground up have been pretty sound so far. I feel comfortable Venom will be fine.
I get the feeling Black Widow will play like a mix of Jill and C.Viper

I do not understand why Jill is continuing to be mentioned. Her Feral stuff was done through her P30 control device or whatever. They're not going to play the same.

I do kind of wonder what they're going to be doing with Winter Soldier in the end. His bionic arm doesn't really do much, unlike Spencer's, and Chris has the gun game covered for the most part. While I didn't particularly want Black Widow, I get the merit of adding her in, but not Winter Soldier on top of that since its all street level guns and spy stuff with both of them.
On the surface, Dante, Deadpool, and Gamora have swords and dual-wielded handguns, but they use their weapons in distinct ways and have unique tools and animation styles. Chris is a stationary, distanced weapons expert. I imagine Winter Soldier firing guns as he walks forward and then using command grabs after closing the distance. He could even have a ground pound, knife parry, and other stuff that Chris doesn't. I have faith that he'll be interesting enough. Despite all of MvCI's faults, Capcom still has a really good character design team. All of the newcomers are well-made.

Unless these are free characters that will be added to the game with a patch, the OT title is still completely relevant.
The base version of MvC:I still only has 4 female characters in its roster.
Winter Soldier did use a Sniper Rifle at some points, and knives, so maybe he'll get to do that here, too? I doubt he'd detach his arm to use for stuff here, but that'd be funny. EMP and short range burst with his arm could give him something non-Spencer like. If not for the addition of a grenade to Spencer's arsenal, I'd suggest he get them too.
Maybe Natasha won't use guns at all, and will just depend on electric pulses and pure Martial arts and acrobatic moves. That'd place her nicely as a Marvel compliment to Chun Li, in a way.
I really do hope they take this chance to make both characters "90s Capcom Interesting". They made characters like Silver Samurai and Blackheart and Spiral incredibly fun and interesting, maybe they'll pull that off here?
