What is going on in this thread? I'm very confused.

This thread is a reference to the Simpsons episode where Barney Gumble and Wade Boggs (rip) argue over the thread title with Barney eventually knocking out Boggs.

Thread never stood a chance.

Thomas a Beckett or Thomas More? Who was the best Catholic leader named Thomas to initially befriend, but later be killed by a king named Henry?

Pitt the Elder.

One could make the argument that if Pitt and his cabinet had not contributed to Britain's triumph in the Seven Years War, then the American .. and subsequently the French Revolution would not have occurred.

Who cares about those cheese eating surrender monkeys.

The above gif is Barney getting knocked out by Joe Frazier in an unrelated argument. Barney actually won his altercation with Wade Boggs.

Whaaaaat? The version of me who used to watch Simpsons reruns every night (which I haven't done in at least 10 years) is very disappointed in me right now.

The answer is obvious. If Pitt the Elder was really that great, he wouldn't require the "Elder" qualification.

But when you talk about George Bush 'sr.' is mentioned almost every time, even tho he was a better president by most standards.
