North Korea's foreign minister says Trump's latest statement was "declaration of war"

DietRob

i've been begging for over 5 years.
Right now this is just typical NK bluster. Shit gets incredibly real if they decide to fire off a shot at the bombers we are flying over them.

This is the troubling part. Since we're doing drills near their border, this is less yawn-inducing then the standard saber rattling.

These drills are gonna be tense to follow. Whether the US makes any "adjustments" to not incur North Korean retaliation will be something to look for.

If they actually shoot at american planes, Trump will have all the excuse he needs. Hopefully they aren't that crazy/ stupid.

Now to wait for the actual President tweet imitating the art.

Normally I'd say this is just another bit of saber rattling, but with things how they are...

Unless I'm mistaken, the US and North Korea technically are still at war from the 50s

No you're correct from what I know as well. I thought the poster indicated N.Korea mention "war" with the US similar to this.

These two need to stop with the Tsundere and just kiss already. Trump and Kim both know they secretly admire each other.

So North and South Korea are still at war, but have an armistice since 1953. Should hostilities return, America will take military control over the South Korean forces.

Can you "declare" war, when your technically still in it?

Surprised no one has assassinated this dweeb yet...

Like seriously none of his staff has thought "hmmm i need to stop the utter destruction of my entire nation"

And trump is as usual... Trash

I doubt Kim is shooting down any bombers until his nuclear arsenal is pretty solidified and fully operational. It's scary to say that, but I really do believe that if they had say 10 operational ICBMs that he would try to take a bomber out.

Probably. A declaration of war is a political statement and there really aren't any rules against political statements. Besides, Russia and Japan are still technically at war, and if violence breaks out between the two, you'd expect their leaders to raise a storm about it. On a more practical note, it's out of fashion to properly declare war nowadays. The US hasn't done it since World War II, and others have followed suit recently.

So they raised the bet again. They said "this is a declaration of war", what will the counterpart say?

A) Will he Call the bet saying "Yes, it is"
B) Will he check saying "chill out NK"
C) Fold

Tune in at 3 PM

We have been at war with North Korea for over 50 years. War was never “undeclared”, so he’s technically wrong.

All the man is trying to point out is they can shoot down our bombers buzzing their borders.

at least it is still just talk and no action has been taken

Lets drop Trump from an airplane into NK.

Build a battlefield on the moon. Send Kim Jong-un and all his NK stans, as well as Trump and all his stans, and have them ALL just fight it out, barefisted, no weapons. While the oppressed people of North Korea and all the rest of us in American celebrate in unison. The winner, that ain't important. Let them all fuckin' rot up there.

They used this language last year.

Seems more directed as justifying future tests, and provocations as being caused by the US.

This is from July of last year (right before a nuclear test FYI)

PYONGYANG, North Korea — North Korea’s top diplomat for U.S. affairs told The Associated Press on Thursday that Washington “crossed the red line” and effectively declared war by putting leader Kim Jong Un on its list of sanctioned individuals, and said a vicious showdown could erupt if the U.S. and South Korea hold annual war games as planned next month.

Han Song Ryol, director-general of the U.S. affairs department at the North’s Foreign Ministry, said in an interview that recent U.S. actions have put the situation on the Korean Peninsula on a war footing.

The United States and South Korea regularly conduct joint military exercises south of the Demilitarized Zone, and Pyongyang typically responds to them with tough talk and threats of retaliation.

“The Obama administration went so far to have the impudence to challenge the supreme dignity of the DPRK in order to get rid of its unfavorable position during the political and military showdown with the DPRK,” Han said, using the acronym for North Korea’s official name, the Democratic People’s Republic of Korea.

“The United States has crossed the red line in our showdown,” he said. “We regard this thrice-cursed crime as a declaration of war.”

Echoing earlier state-media reports, Han ridiculed Mark Lippert, the U.S. ambassador to South Korea, for a flight on a U.S. Air Force F-16 based in South Korea that he said was an action “unfit for a diplomat.”

“We regard that as the act of a villain, who is a crazy person,” Han said of the July 12 flight. “All these facts show that the United States is intentionally aggravating the tensions in the Korean Peninsula.”

“Nobody can predict what kind of influence this kind of vicious confrontation between the DPRK and the United States will have upon the situation on the Korean Peninsula,” he said. “By doing these kinds of vicious and hostile acts toward the DPRK, the U.S. has already declared war against the DPRK. So it is our self-defensive right and justifiable action to respond in a very hard way.

“We are all prepared for war, and we are all prepared for peace,” he said. “If the United States forces those kinds of large-scale exercises in August, then the situation caused by that will be the responsibility of the United States.”

They'll find anything to justify their posture, Trump's twitter just makes it super easy

I live about 20 minutes from Osan. Haven't heard any nukes yet. I assume I'm still going to work tomorrow.

Why can't everybody just chill the fuck out and leave each other alone?

both countries' leaders have trouble brewing at home, always good to unite the populace around a common enemy and keep the illusion going.

This is the secret of propaganda: Those who are to be persuaded by it should be completely immersed in the ideas of the propaganda, without ever noticing that they are being immersed in it.
-Joseph Goebbels

Interview with Hermann Göring:

Gilbert: There is one difference. In a democracy, the people have some say in the matter through their elected representatives, and in the United States only Congress can declare wars.

Göring: Oh, that is all well and good, but, voice or no voice, the people can always be brought to the bidding of the leaders. That is easy. All you have to do is tell them they are being attacked and denounce the pacifists for lack of patriotism and exposing the country to danger. It works the same way in any country.

Basically this. They just constantly need enemies and the ire of other countries to keep telling their people how glorious they are in standing up to the world. Trump is just a convenient propaganda factory.

I don't want to downplay the nuclear development, but at the same time, I don't think it's worth jumping out of your seat every time North Korea says this shit.

So N. Korea makes threats CONSTANTLY to everyone around them and it's ok..

But the one time someone finally tells them the same thing.. they lose their minds.

Usually it's N. Korea making threats because they are low on food or other needs. They use the pointless threats as a way to get aid.

Not in this case though, I think those days are done.

Hey remember when North Korea declared war on South Korea in 2013?

Or when they called that James Franco movie an act of war in 2014?

No? OK.

One would hope that a member of the security council, and a major world super-power would be held to a higher standard than North Korea.

Of course, North Korea's diplomacy is crap and has been for decades. That doesn't mean that the US should stoop to that level, but honestly with Trump in charge the US has no dignity, class, or respect anyway, so until 2020 (or sooner if Mueller comes through) I guess that's where we're at.

We accidentally declare war on each other all of the time though, this is nothing.

Plus the Korean war is still a thing

What? N.Korea declared "war" on the US a few weeks ago?

Not to mention firing missiles over countries and threatening to test a hydrogen bomb miles from their coastland pretty much means you are declaring or attempting to set up for war.

Fuck North Korea. Only because of Trump are people sympathizing with a totalitarian state that would make Orwell 1984 blush. 60+ years of brainwash, gulags and concentration camps and executions and generational punishment.

Let's just hope this all a big bluff and NK won't fire at any US airplanes, goddamn. All this time it just sounds like a real childish situation full of bluff from both sides until shit really goes down. And we just don't know. The thing is, Trump clearly is serious that if it comes down to it, he'll have no issues totally wiping out NK and that's a scary thought, or what if NK makes the first move against the US?

Let's just hope all this blows over, it's a messed up situation though, a very odd time we're living in. This Twitter stuff is ridiculous.

You know, I'm deeply concerned for the world, I've been that way for years.

Now, I just have trouble getting through a day without wondering, "is this it?"

I live in fear of Trump Glassing countries because he's a dangerous idiot with a stupendously dotard filled base of racist shitheads that includes my father, who pretty much is disowning me and my mother for not voting for that end of the world piece of shit and his sociopathic friends.
